“Wait.”
Lin Si had just turned to leave when Sikou Yan called him back.
“Take this pastry over there.” Sikou Yan smiled. “That way, perhaps that girl won’t hold a grudge against me next time.”
Remembering what had happened the night before, Lin Si could not help laughing as well. He nodded. “Yes, Your Highness.”
Lin Si left at once and returned before long.
By then, Sikou Yan had put on his outer robe and was reclining on a soft couch in the waterside pavilion. He nibbled on the snacks laid out on the table while gazing at the scenery in the distance.
“Your Highness, the things have been delivered. However, Miss Ji seems to have gone out, so I handed them to the steward,” Lin Si reported respectfully.
“By the way, I heard that Miss Ji did not rise until late this morning. She seems to have returned quite early last night, but the Seventh Princess sent over a great deal of fruit wine yesterday. When the servants went to clean up today, they found quite a few empty wine jugs and jars in the courtyard where Miss Ji resides.”
It was not difficult for Lin Si to obtain information from the Ji family.
Besides, whatever his lord wished to know would be easy to discover. Not to mention a mere general’s residence in the Kingdom of Yu—even information concerning the four great powers could be obtained with ease.
“Wine jars?” The swaying couch suddenly came to a halt. Sikou Yan’s brows drew together slightly. After a moment, he smiled. “That girl must have indulged herself again on the way home.”
But Xin’er was still young. Drinking so much wine could hardly be good for her health.

His gaze darkened as he asked, “The fruit wine was sent by the Seventh Princess?”
“Yes,” Lin Si replied.
Sikou Yan lightly tapped his fingers against the edge of the couch several times. “Go to the palace and tell them that, from now on, they are not to send any more fruit wine or snacks to the general’s residence.”
Aside from being somewhat annoyed that Duan Zi had sent so much fruit wine yesterday and caused that girl to drink too much, he had begun to worry that someone might lure Xin’er away with food.
His fingers, which had been loosely spread, slowly curled inward.
If that happened, he would be even more annoyed.
“I shall obey, Your Highness.” Though Lin Si did not understand his lord’s intentions, he knew exactly how to handle this matter. After receiving the order, he immediately went to carry it out.
After changing her clothes, Ji Tianxin left the residence with Suqing.
“Master, where are we going?” Suqing followed Ji Tianxin as they flew directly to a forest outside Jinan City.
Shiyue, sprawled across Ji Tianxin’s shoulder, also glanced from side to side, seemingly very familiar with this place.
“Inside,” Ji Tianxin replied.
This was where Shiyue had emerged into the world in this realm. There were bound to be spirit herbs or rare treasures near the place of its birth.

That was an inevitable conclusion. All things possessed spirit, and the emergence of a fierce beast required an even greater concentration of spiritual energy.
Even though the spiritual energy on this continent was thin, it would gather densely for a short time, giving rise to other rare treasures of nature.
She had left in haste the last time and had not had the chance to investigate. This time, she had deliberately returned to see whether there were any materials she could use.
She also happened to be preparing to refine medicinal pills for Suqing and Shiyue, so she had come directly after remembering the place.
“Take me to where you were born,” Ji Tianxin said.
“Awoo!”
Shiyue immediately bounded into the forest ahead as though it had been set free.
Ji Tianxin followed. Although she appeared to be walking slowly, she vanished from sight in the blink of an eye, disappearing into the woods.
The place where Shiyue had emerged lay deep within the forest. Compared with their previous visit, the forest had clearly lost some of its murderous aura, and the spiritual energy was no longer as abundant as before.
What they had not expected was that, as soon as they arrived, they saw a person and a giant serpent locked in battle.
