Chapter 128: Is It Really That Fast?

Lin Yi paused slightly at his words.
The burly man mistakenly thought Lin Yi had been intimidated by them. With a vicious look on his face, he said, “Let go of Miss Xia. Don’t force us to take action. If one of those thin little arms or legs of yours gets broken, it won’t look very nice.”
Xia Yumo was their biggest patron. If they could win her favor, they might not rise to the heavens in a single bound, but at the very least, their futures would be smooth sailing.
The burly man gave the other staff members a meaningful glance.
They moved several steps closer to Lin Yi once again.
Lin Yi released his grip. To outsiders, it looked as though he had become frightened.
Xia Yumo had always been domineering. The moment Lin Yi let go, she raised her hand and swung it viciously toward his face.
But before her palm could come down, Lin Yi seized her wrist with one hand and gripped her throat with the other.
Xia Yumo struggled, twisting her body, but how could her strength compare with Lin Yi’s?
“You’re still this slow.”
Lin Yi spoke indifferently. With a powerful flex of his arm, he lifted Xia Yumo completely off the ground, her feet hanging ten centimeters in the air.
“You little bastard, you’ve gone too far! Get him!”
The burly man’s expression darkened. He swung his fist at Lin Yi.
Lin Yi kicked him in the knee before the punch could land. A burst of agony shot through the man’s leg, and he collapsed onto his knees.
“Damn you! You actually ambushed me!”
The burly man’s face had gone pale. He could no longer feel one of his legs.
The others exchanged glances. The burly man was the strongest among them, and now he had been knocked down in an instant. Fear began to creep into their hearts.
Not everyone enjoyed getting into fights.
But Miss Xia was still in the other man’s hands. If they refused to act, they might lose their jobs.
Chen Mo, standing nearby, saw the remaining staff members frozen in place and cursed loudly, “You idiots! He’s only one man. What are you afraid of?”
The others looked at one another. They had no choice.
Fine. They would fight.
They had little experience in brawling and attacked like children. One tried to wrap his arms around Lin Yi’s waist, only to be thrown to the ground. Another attempted to jab him in the eyes, while yet another opened his mouth and tried to bite him.
Lin Yi glanced at them calmly, then kicked them several times. Like the burly man, they all collapsed helplessly to the ground and were unable to get up for quite some time.
Chen Mo’s expression darkened further. He had not expected this seemingly frail young man to be so capable in a fight.
No matter how useless those staff members were, there had still been several of them. Yet Lin Yi had knocked them all down in just a few moves.
“Young man, do you know who Miss Xia is? If she loses even a single hair, not one person in Lan City will be able to bear the consequences.”
Chen Mo shouted angrily.
Lin Yi could not be bothered to waste any more words on them. He threw Xia Yumo to the ground and said coldly, “You have one minute to get out of my sight. Otherwise, I’ll make sure all of you have to crawl home.”
Xia Yumo knew Lin Yi was not joking. The man was obviously a reckless hothead.
“Damn country bumpkin! I’ll make my father buy Long Lake Bay when I get back. Let’s see how you manage to stay there.”
She glared at Lin Yi with eyes blazing with hatred, wishing she could tear him apart.
Then she turned around and looked at the staff members sprawled on the ground, growing angrier the more she thought about it.
Xia Yumo got to her feet, her expression extremely ugly.
When Lin Yi had thrown her down, she had lost her balance and landed heavily on her backside. The pain was intense.
“You useless fools! You can’t do anything right. We’re leaving.”
After cursing them, Xia Yumo viciously kicked one of the staff members in the leg.
The man did not dare complain in the slightest and could only silently endure it.
The other staff members hurriedly got to their feet despite their pain.
Xia Yumo led them away from Villa No. 8, but they did not go far.
“Damn hillbilly! How dare he treat me like that?”
Xia Yumo’s face was twisted with fury.
She was the daughter of the Xia family. From childhood, she had lived in luxury and been pampered by everyone around her.

How could she have imagined that she would end up being beaten, driven out, and humiliated like this?
“Miss Xia, in my opinion, we should find some local toughs and teach that brat a proper lesson.”
The burly man limped over to Xia Yumo.
Chen Mo said nothing. Under normal circumstances, he would certainly have stopped the man, but today Lin Yi’s attitude had infuriated him as well.
Xia Yumo’s gaze was vicious. “Fine. Do as you say. Break all four of his limbs first. Let’s see how arrogant he can be after that.”
“That doesn’t seem like a good idea.”
Fang Ru spoke timidly.
Xia Yumo turned a cold gaze on her, and the anger in her heart flared up once again.
Fang Ru quickly lowered her head, her body trembling involuntarily.
“You filthy bitch! You actually dare to speak up for someone else?”
Xia Yumo strode over to Fang Ru and slapped her across the face.
Smack, smack, smack!
After striking her more than a dozen times, Xia Yumo grabbed Fang Ru by the hair and said coldly, “Will you dare to say things like that again?”
Fang Ru’s entire face had swollen. She shook her head and answered in a tearful voice, “No, I won’t.”
“What a lowlife. And now you’re crying? Crying for your mother? The sound is irritating.”
Xia Yumo kicked Fang Ru in the stomach, sending her sprawling to the ground.
No one dared to stand up for her. They simply watched from the side.
After beating Fang Ru, Xia Yumo’s anger had subsided somewhat. She took out her phone and made a call.
“Hello, Uncle Fang. Investigate someone for me—the man living in Villa No. 8 at Long Lake Bay. I want all his information within ten minutes.”
An old voice came from the other end. “Understood.”
Not long afterward, Uncle Fang called back.
“Hello, Miss. The master wants you to stop investigating the owner of Villa No. 8.”
Xia Yumo frowned. “Why?”
Uncle Fang spoke gravely. “The master did not explain. He only said that if you ever meet the owner of that villa, you should avoid him.”
“Why should I?”
Xia Yumo raised her voice.
“Miss, the master is doing this for your own good. Surely you understand by now? The owner of that villa must have powerful connections. Even the master does not want to offend him.”
Uncle Fang sighed.
His young lady had been spoiled rotten since childhood and had offended countless people outside. If the Xia family had not possessed such immense influence, Xia Yumo would have been devoured long ago, bones and all.
The problem was that she never learned from her mistakes. That was why her father, Xia Deshou, had arranged for her to work on a film set.
He had thought she might behave herself for a few days, but instead, Xia Yumo had only become worse. Wherever she went, trouble followed.
Now she had provoked someone whom even her father dared not casually offend.
“Impossible. He’s just a rich second-generation heir from the countryside. How could my father possibly be afraid of offending him?”
Xia Yumo argued back angrily. Then she said furiously, “Fine. If you won’t help me, I’ll settle this my own way.”
After hanging up, Xia Yumo ordered Chen Mo to find the local underworld.
Chen Mo was a famous director and knew many people. Before long, he had contacted Peak Lord, the most powerful underworld figure in Lan City.
Peak Lord’s real name was Ma Feng. He was the genuine underworld boss of Lan City, controlling considerable influence. He owned more than twenty entertainment clubs, each month earning profits in the tens of millions, and maintained ties with numerous wealthy businessmen.
Chen Mo said, “Hello, are you Peak Lord?”
“Yes. Who is this?”
Ma Feng’s voice was deep and resonant, belonging to a man who sounded broad-shouldered and heavily built.
“Don’t worry about who I am. I’ll give you ten million to teach someone a lesson.”
Chen Mo narrowed his eyes.
“Who?”
Ma Feng asked cautiously. People in their line of work feared nothing more than accidentally provoking someone important.
“A minor rich kid. I don’t know his exact name either. I’ll give you the address: Villa No. 8 at Long Lake Bay. Break both of the owner’s legs for me. What do you say? Are you in?”
Chen Mo spoke confidently.
“Heh. Are you making fun of me?”
Ma Feng let out a cold laugh. Everyone knew that the top ten villas in Long Lake Bay belonged to the Ten Great Families.
Unless absolutely necessary, he avoided crossing paths with members of those families. Offending a great family for ten million was simply not worth it.
“One hundred million. If you handle this well, I’ll also help you become the underground boss of the provincial capital.”
Chen Mo continued raising the offer. Naturally, the price had been suggested by Xia Yumo.

“Why should I believe you?”
Ma Feng asked.
“This opportunity comes only once. Whether you believe me is up to you. I’m sure plenty of people would be willing to take the job.”
Chen Mo’s tone was indifferent.
Ma Feng was silent for a moment before saying, “Fine. I accept. Transfer fifty million to me first. I want to see your sincerity.”
“No problem. Give me your account number.”
Ma Feng provided the number, and Chen Mo immediately had the money transferred.
…
Villa No. 8.
Lin Yi was cultivating when a young woman suddenly came running over. It was Fang Ru, who had arrived with Xia Yumo’s group.
“Sir.”
Fang Ru called out from outside.
Lin Yi frowned. He stopped cultivating, went downstairs, and approached her.
“What is it?”
“Sir, you should leave as soon as possible. Miss Xia has hired the Lan City underworld. They’re coming to teach you a lesson.”
Fang Ru kindly warned him.
Lin Yi looked at her expressionlessly. “I understand. Thank you for coming to warn me.”
Fang Ru quickly lowered her head—not out of shyness, but because her cheeks were still badly swollen.
All women cared about their appearance, and in her current state, she could not bear to let anyone see her. Her face had swollen to nearly twice its size, and her eyes were almost squeezed shut.
“As long as you know. I’ll be leaving now.”
Fang Ru muttered softly and turned to go.
But after taking only one step, she was stopped by Lin Yi.
“Was that woman the one who hit you?”
Fang Ru hurriedly shook her head. “No, it wasn’t. I fell down by myself.”
Lin Yi was speechless. Who would believe such a flimsy excuse?
Fang Ru realized how far-fetched it sounded and lowered her head awkwardly.
“Here.”
Lin Yi took out a pill.
It was a healing pill refined by Xiao Qian from ordinary century-old medicinal herbs. Even ordinary people could take it, and its effects were quite good.
“What is this?”
Fang Ru asked curiously.
“You’ll know after you eat it.”
Lin Yi answered indifferently.
Fang Ru hesitated, then gathered her courage. “It isn’t that kind of medicine, is it?”
Lin Yi shook his head with a laugh. “You’re overthinking it. I’m not interested in you at all. It’s just an ordinary snack.”
As he spoke, Lin Yi took out another pill and swallowed it.
Fang Ru looked into his clear eyes and realized that she had misunderstood him.
She had some beauty, but in her current condition, no one could possibly find her attractive. Her face was swollen into a round mass, and her eyes were nearly pressed together.
“Then I’ll eat it.”
Fang Ru swallowed the pill in one gulp. Almost immediately, she felt a warm sensation spread across her face, as if a pair of gentle hands were softly caressing it. The feeling was wonderfully soothing.
She instinctively touched her cheeks and was delighted to discover that the swelling had somehow disappeared.
Fang Ru quickly took out her phone and opened the front-facing camera.
Sure enough, her beautiful appearance had returned. She was both astonished and overjoyed.
“How did this happen? It’s practically magic.”
Fang Ru found it difficult to believe.
With an injury like hers, it should have taken at least several days to recover. Yet a single pill had restored her appearance as if by magic.
Fang Ru put away her phone and turned to thank Lin Yi, only to find that he had already disappeared.
