“What! You slept with Pei Yanchuan?” Su Chiyu exclaimed excitedly upon hearing about what had happened last night.

Receiving the disdainful glances from those around her, she belatedly covered her mouth.

Wen Yang sighed helplessly and rubbed her forehead. With Su Su’s carefree nature, such an outburst was entirely expected.

“That bastard Wang Shuo actually drugged you!”

The events of last night were overwhelming; she didn’t know which part to focus on first. “So what happened after you slept together? Your breakup was all over the news. After sleeping with him, did you feel anything? Like your heart fluttering again?”

Wen Yang fell silent.

Ignoring the latter two questions, she said, “Wang Shuo is single-minded. If no one triggers him, he wouldn’t think of targeting me.”

“Could it be your despicable stepfather?” Su Su said boldly now that they were away from the office.

Wen Yang shook her head uncertainly but thought she could find out by coaxing Wang Shuo.

Just as she thought of him, her phone rang.

She glanced at the screen—a timely call.

During the day, she had taken all the original project materials she could and deleted all the data she could. Now, she was just waiting for him to come to her. If Wang Shuo still wanted to win the resort project, he had no choice but to make this call.

Wen Yang pressed to answer calmly, “Hello?”

Wang Shuo breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, she hadn’t blacklisted him. Covering his lips, he whispered, “Wen Yang, did you delete all the files from my computer?”

He glanced cautiously at the man sitting across from him in the private room—Pei Yanchuan paid him no attention, not even lifting an eyelid.

Beside him, Han Ting smiled innocently, as if eagerly awaiting the outcome of this call.

“Manager Wang, don’t make baseless accusations without evidence,” Wen Yang replied, returning his own words from earlier that day. “Besides, with such an important project, why not just spend time rewriting it?”

Wang Shuo felt his anger rise but dared not lose his temper now. “Xiao Wen, I admit I was wrong. Can you send me a copy of the files you kept?”

He had contacted President Han during the day and had expected to have to push hard, but surprisingly, the other party showed great interest in their design plan and suggested a dinner to discuss it further.

However, during the discussion, when asked about some core questions and data in the design drawings, Wang Shuo was at a loss.

He had wanted to check Wen Yang’s original materials but found all the files wiped from his computer.

He could only make an excuse that the files were with his assistant and couldn’t be accessed directly.

Wen Yang clearly didn’t care and simply said, “Oh, I’m currently at Anye Youju. If Manager Wang wants the files, it depends on how sincere you are.”

Then she hung up—typical of her style, calm and decisive.

Obvious that the call had been cut off, Wang Shuo’s refined face turned ugly with a forced smile. “My assistant is busy at Anye right now; she can’t bring them over. President Han and President Pei, could you give me more time?”

Han Ting glanced sideways at the silent man beside him. “Young Master Pei, what do you think?”

Hearing Anye, Pei Yanchuan raised an eyebrow. The man who once couldn’t hold his liquor and got drunk after a sip had now learned to frequent bars.

His knobby fingers drummed lightly on the table as he spoke with a lazy smile, “Since Manager Wang’s assistant is busy at Anye, let’s book a private room there and wait for her.”

Wen Yang saw Wang Shuo half an hour later. He was wearing a suit and paced back and forth inside the bar, squinting and frowning—clearly unfamiliar with such a place, looking completely out of place.

Wen Yang’s fair complexion seemed to glow even in the dim bar light.

The moment Wang Shuo spotted her, it was as if he had found his savior and rushed toward her.

“Wen Yang, can you give me the files quickly?”

Wen Yang sipped her drink, a slight smile curling her lips. “Manager Wang, you’re truly forgetful. You mocked me as an insignificant intern this morning. Now you’re coming to me for such important things.”

“What do you want from me?” Wang Shuo was clearly desperate. “I’ll apologize to you, or beg President Wen to reinstate you at the company. Whatever you want, I can do.”

Su Chiyu glared angrily beside them. “What’s the worth of your apology, you dog of a man? You’ve ruined Yangyang!”

“So, who drugged me?” Wen Yang traced the rim of her glass, asking calmly.

Wang Shuo thought she had already blamed him and would take the opportunity to humiliate him, but she surprised him by guessing someone else.

He glanced upstairs and thought that since President Pei had deigned to come here to wait for this plan, he must value this cooperation highly.

After a long silence, he bit his lip. Wen Yang and that young lady were worlds apart; even if he revealed it, what trouble could an ordinary college student like Wen Yang stir up?

He resolved, “It was the heiress of Xu Real Estate, Xu Qiqi.”

Su Chiyu was stunned, then her mouth dropped open. She hadn’t heard that annoying name in a long time.

Wen Yang remained calm. When Xu Qiqi learned where she interned, she had suspected as much.

“I met her when I went to Xu’s house to deliver the proposal. She’s very interested in you and often asks about you. She said President Han likes you, and if you were introduced to him during negotiations, the deal would surely go through.”

“To hell with her. She’s been calcium-deficient since childhood—like a pot on her head. Nobody would believe what she says! The one who truly likes our Yangyang is obviously Pei…”

“Do you have any proof?” Wen Yang interrupted Su Su.

Wang Shuo suppressed his displeasure. Although anxious, he was still sharp enough to know whom he could offend and whom he couldn’t. Without hesitation, he answered, “No. I only contacted her by phone, no records left.”

Seeing this, Wen Yang understood there was no way to squeeze more information from him.

She sighed softly, as if resigned, and took a USB drive from her bag, tossing it to him.

“So, Xiao Wen, leave some room for others; it’s better for future encounters. When I get back to the company, I’ll plead with President Wen for you again.”

Wang Shuo took the USB without even saying thanks and turned to leave.

Su Chiyu’s blood pressure soared at his obnoxious behavior. She couldn’t help but punch the air toward his retreating back, her voice rising with indignation. “Yangyang, you just gave it to him like that?”

“Don’t worry, I’m not one to suffer losses,” Wen Yang said, shaking off her earlier discouragement and winking slyly.

She noticed Wang Shuo didn’t head for the exit but went upstairs to a private room, sparking a faint suspicion in her heart.

He’s here too?

She reached for her glass but felt the coolness of the rim under her fingers. A shiver ran through her, and her mood involuntarily stirred.
