Volume 1, Chapter 33: The Shi Estate
“Take all of these people!”
“All of them? There are more than a hundred people here. How could we possibly put them all to work?” Shopkeeper Qian objected.
“No problem. I’ll have the surplus taken to the estate later. They can help with the harvest and plant some seasonal vegetables for the Shi Family Restaurant.”
“All right. For the sake of our friendship, I’ll help you one more time.”
I secretly reveled in the thought. That meant I could earn another three thousand yuan. Heh. Even if Wanjia Group fired me now, I would still have six thousand yuan. If I spent carefully, it would easily last me two months.
“What do you mean? Of course I was behind you. It’s just that our steps matched and the sounds overlapped. You seem to be imagining things—you’re too tense. Couldn’t you simply call out to me?” In truth, how could she herself not be nervous and afraid?
“What about the child? What happened to the child?” Qin Yongqi seized Yang Liuer by the shoulders and shook her violently.
Immediately afterward, another lantern fell from the mountain cliff. Its light glimmered faintly red; it must have been stained with blood.
An outsider might have seen Xiong Nan and Gao Pengyi exchanging blows, with Xiong Nan being suppressed at every turn and unable to find his footing, until a few moves later he was knocked flat on the ground.
I secretly glanced toward Zheng Pengyun and the others’ campsite not far away. The two masters of traditional martial arts, who had been tense all night, now looked drowsy and half-asleep.
“Ha, the things you brought are really something! All right, I’ll lead the way from here!” You Xiao put on a gas-and-oxygen mask and glanced at Tingting through the lenses.
His eyes swept around the surroundings before settling on the staircase ahead. It was clearly the way to the upstairs room where Naruto Uzumaki slept. Uchiha Kagami strode toward it.
After leaving the dormitory building, I once again saw the three furtive-looking men. I paid them no attention, however, and walked straight toward the park.
When he returned to the office, Shen Wanqing was already working in the adjacent room. Her face remained expressionless, and she appeared unaffected by that phone call, yet Xu Qingmo could always sense that something was wrong.
He truly did not care who inherited the Shengshi Mansion, nor was he interested in who stood behind the scenes. In his eyes, everyone in Hu Wei’s house was already dead—including Cao Feng, who had kept hiding his head until now.
The people he had investigated were actually being compared with Changsun Xuanzhi. That was why he had yet to find a suitable candidate.
After a while, they seemed to start fighting. Several swordlike flashes of light could be seen weaving indistinctly among the crowd. Then the people on the outskirts began to panic and scatter in all directions.
Apart from being astonished by the close bond between Ye Wang and his sister, all he could think about was the young man he had seen in the surveillance footage.
The constables were all standing guard outside. The stench of blood inside the room was simply too overpowering, and even they were unwilling to enter.
Although Dragon Court Beauty Estate was enormous, the farthest distance between the villa district and the foreign-style housing district was no more than two kilometers. Jian Youchen still sent a car to pick up Han Zhuo.
Yun Feng gathered all the weapons covered in that copper-green rust and addressed the middle-aged stallholder.
Morita Nozomu came in as well, awkwardly scratching his neck. “I never imagined this matter would cause you so much trouble. I’m truly sorry—terribly sorry.” As he spoke, he bowed again.
She slipped quietly out of the doctor’s office and was just reaching for the door when a languid voice came from behind her.
She wore a reserved yet courteous smile and moved gracefully forward under the protection of her bodyguards. Suddenly, something was thrown at her and smashed against her forehead. Egg white and yolk streamed down her face.
A strange fragrance drifted through the air, and a radiant golden vortex appeared above the Ancestral Dragon Divine Hall. Amid repeated roars like the cries of coiling dragons, a giant with the head of a dragon and the body of a man flew out of the vortex, seated upon a golden twin throne formed by nine coiling dragons.
