Chapter 17: Unworthy Disciple Mo Jie, Greetings, Master
Page 1/3
The granddaughter and grandfather knelt on the ground, blood streaming down their legs and faces, yet Mo Jie’s gaze was entirely captured by another man sitting on a chair—a seemingly ordinary figure. The man sat there plainly, without even a trace of cultivation aura.
But Mo Jie’s heart trembled violently.
It was him. It was him!
The Great Emperor, Xuan!
In an instant, he seemed to return to his youthful days. That day, his master had said that a group of prodigies would go to a sacred place to give a sermon; they belonged to a vassal sect of that sacred place.
Their sect had one seat available to listen to the sermon, and that seat had been given to him.
He carefully changed into a new Taoist robe and came to the sacred place, only to be blocked outside by a rival sect. Amidst a chorus of mocking laughter, a smiling young boy helped him out of the predicament and allowed him to enter the sacred place.
Later, he saw that boy on the preaching platform, sitting among prodigies with a carefree smile on his face.
And later still, he heard it was that night’s dark battle in which the boy became emperor.
Inside the ship’s cabin, Mo Jie stared at the seated youth, who looked just as before. It was as if he had returned to that night, sitting below, listening to the youth’s sermon.
In a moment, tears streamed down Mo Jie’s wrinkled face.
Meeting again after nine thousand years!
Mo Leng shivered coldly, looking at his grandfather’s tear-streaked face. Ridiculous!
...
At the Tai Long Sect, Li Xuan glanced at the warship above, recognized a familiar figure, and after some thought, nodded slightly.
It turned out to be an old friend from nine thousand years ago.
The once shy and reserved boy outside the sacred place had now become an ancestor.
“Li Xuan! Li family! You’re finished! Even if you kneel now, it won’t save you or the Li family!” Mo Yao stared excitedly at the warship, eyes fixed on Li Xuan. “Daring to offend Brother Bufan, I will avenge him.”
Li Xuan smiled upon hearing this. As the art of war says, attack their rescue, and strike to shatter.
He was hoping to gain some villain points from Mo Yao. Now it seemed he could get much more.
He took both the villain points and lifespan from Mo Yao.
“Your backing is the ancestor of your family?” Li Xuan asked with a smile.
Mo Yao looked proud. “My great-grandfather is a saint! No matter how strong you are, you can’t compare to even a finger of my ancestor!”
Mo Yao glared at Li Xuan, her face swollen. “What? You want to kneel and beg for mercy now? I’m telling you, it’s too late!”
“Even if you kneel and beg, it won’t work! I’m the beloved eldest daughter of my father, grandfather, and ancestor!”
“Ancestor! Save me!”
“The Li family not only wants to kill me, but also wipe out the Mo family! They want to kill Brother Bufan too! Ancestor, hurry and save Brother Bufan!”
Mo Yao looked up and shouted, “Dad, Grandpa, Ancestor, come save me!”
Li Xuan’s lips curled into a smile, his eyes calm as he looked at Mo Yao. The most beloved one?
...
On the Mo family warship, Mo Xiao was puzzled. His son, Mo Leng, had stopped mid-sentence.
Hearing Mo Yao’s cries, the Mo family was restless, many itching to act.
Mo Xiao could no longer contain himself and entered the cabin, seeing his son standing dazedly with his back to him.
“Ancestor, Mo Yao is asking for help. Should we act immediately?”
Mo Xiao was confused. The ancestor’s aura was fully displayed, and his son’s words were half-spoken—now they were stuck in between. How would others perceive them?
Mo Jie’s tears vanished from his face as he stood up, straightening his slightly stooped back with effort. He extended his hand and spiritual energy surged forth, renewing his appearance.
Mo Xiao was stunned, staring at his father. Did his father have this habit before battle? To dress up?
Mo Jie shook his head. “This won’t do.”
He looked at his son. “Bring me a new set of clothes.”
Page 2/3
“What? Mo Xiao opened his mouth, unable to help but ask, “Father, didn’t you kill the Li family with a single finger? Why do you need to change into new clothes?”
Smack.
Mo Jie slapped Mo Xiao’s face. “Speak with respect.”
Mo Xiao was stunned, holding his face in disbelief. Mo Jie looked at him with disdain. “New clothes.”
Mo Xiao swallowed hard, took out a set of new clothes, watched his father change, then left.
Mo Xiao held his face and looked at Mo Leng. “Mo Leng, what’s going on?!”
Mo Leng was dazed, turning to look at his father. “He cried.”
Mo Xiao frowned. “Who cried?”
Mo Leng was vacant, recalling that shocking scene—grandfather’s wrinkled face streaming with tears, like a parched land receiving river waters.
“My grandfather cried!”
Mo Xiao was stunned, scoffed. “Impossible. My father could never cry!”
He didn’t believe it. How could such an absurd thing be true?
His father was a saint, a tough man who endured countless hardships before becoming one. He never knelt, never cried.
Even at death’s door, he never knelt. Everyone who knew him would give a thumbs-up and say he was a tough guy!
Now, they said he cried? Ridiculous!
Mo Leng scratched his head, doubting his own eyes.
After speaking, the two went out.
The Mo family warship hovered high in the sky, with countless people nearby gazing curiously.
Has the Mo family’s ancestor, that saint, lost his aura?
What did the family head mean by speaking halfway?!
They hated two things most: half-spoken words, and—
Is the Mo family just not learning?
In the great city, countless strong cultivators had gathered nearby, eager to witness the saint’s strike. Even if they might not understand, they had to come!
When they were old, they could brag about having seen a saint’s attack!
“What’s going on with the Mo family? Could it be in trouble?”
“Trouble? Are you crazy? The Mo family has a saint; what trouble could they have?”
“Even without the ancestor’s intervention, just one elder from the Mo family could crush the Li family, right?”
“...”
They discussed among themselves.
At a tavern, an old man gulped down his free drinks today, drinking more than usual. A little girl beside him bit on a fruit, frowned while listening, and looked up at the old man. “Grandpa, is the Li family going to lose again?”
The old man was stunned. The Li family losing again? Was there any doubt?
Why would the Li family be the rival of the saintly Mo family and the Xi Yue Sacred Place?
The old man stroked his beard and nodded. “Of course. Granddaughter, you must understand: among the strong, there are always stronger ones. The Li family is just not strong enough.”
“Oh.” The little girl nodded. Poor handsome brother. Everyone else doubts you, but Yinyin believes in you. Keep it up!
“Look, someone appeared on the Mo family warship!” A shout rang out, and everyone looked up. The old man and little girl also raised their heads.
“Hiss, the Mo family ancestor has appeared!” someone whispered, awestruck and trembling.
“That is the Mo family’s saintly ancestor. He looks... dignified!” Someone attempted to say “ordinary,” but changed their mind midway.
A strong cultivator at the Refined Void Realm nodded. “As expected of a saint, his cultivation is flawless, like a perfect body. So powerful!”
“Today, we’re truly fortunate to witness a saint’s action!”
“Haha, it’s not us who are lucky, but the Li family, to die at the hands of a saint,” someone teased.
They watched the Mo family saint step out of the warship and enter the Tai Long Sect.
“Strange, why can’t I see him anymore?!” someone exclaimed.
Page 3/3
A Refined Void Realm cultivator sneered. “Why panic? This is the saint’s domain; it doesn’t matter. I have a Divine Eye technique that can see through the saint’s domain. I’ll report what I see.”
He activated the Divine Eye and gazed toward Tai Long Sect. Of course, seeing clearly was impossible; he could only vaguely make out the saint’s silhouette.
He breathed a sigh of relief—the saint did not mind his spying. But strangely, the saint seemed a bit agitated?
His pace fluctuated, even stumbling once. Probably the saint was casting some divine technique.
“The saint is walking toward the Tai Long Sect, casting divine techniques along the way, moving quickly.”
The city fell silent as everyone listened eagerly to the Refined Void cultivator’s commentary, all staring toward Tai Long Sect, hoping to catch a glimpse of the saint’s attack.
“The saint stopped, looked at his body—probably sensed some Li family formations. He flicked his hand and broke them apart.”
“The saint entered Tai Long Sect’s martial arena.”
“The saint passed by Li family members.”
“The saint saved the Mo family’s eldest daughter.”
“The saint is speaking with the Li family’s ancestor…”
“The Li family’s ancestor is about to…”
“The saint…”
In the silent city, the Refined Void cultivator’s narration suddenly stopped. People looked up at him with confusion.
The cultivator’s eyes were fixed in horror, his body trembling, crashing into the window frame with a clang.
It was as if he had seen some terrifying vision.
With a bang, he smashed through the window and fell headlong to the ground, impaled.
Everyone turned around, stunned.
What had this cultivator seen to cause such agitation?!
...
Mo Jie landed on the ground and walked toward Tai Long Sect. He was excited, yet his saintly body was stiff, his speed fluctuating. He stumbled once on a stone.
He stopped and looked at his body—no dust. He breathed a sigh of relief and flicked himself to ensure no dirt remained.
He entered Tai Long Sect, passing by Li family members.
The Li family members watched the Mo family saint heavily; if not for the ancestor’s calming presence, they would have already struck.
The Li family was not afraid to die.
“Ancestor, I’m here! Ancestor, save me! The Li family wants to kill me, you must avenge me! They also want to kill Brother Bufan!”
“Li Xuan has already crippled Brother Bufan, Ancestor, hurry and save him!”
Mo Yao was overjoyed at Mo Jie’s arrival and shouted.
She turned and scornfully regarded Li Xuan. “My ancestor has come. Why aren’t you kneeling down yet?!”
Mo Yao reached out to Mo Jie, pleading coquettishly, “Ancestor, my face and legs are bleeding. Li Xuan wants to cripple me!”
Mo Jie walked past Mo Yao, paying no attention to her behind.
Mo Yao was stunned.
Above, Mo family members appeared, all looking toward Tai Long Sect, ready to watch their ancestor act.
Mo Leng and Mo Xiao were both there. Mo Leng hadn’t come to his senses yet, staring blankly at his grandfather walking on the ground. He asked, “Grandpa, why doesn’t grandpa fly over?”
Mo Xiao was speechless. “Why would your grandpa’s method of attack concern you? Even if he knelt and cried while attacking, it wouldn’t be your business!”
Li Xuan raised his teacup, took a sip, and smiled at Mo Jie. “Long time no see.”
Mo Jie stopped, tears streaming down his face, then knelt deeply, bowing profoundly.
“Unworthy disciple Mo Jie pays respects to the master.”
[You, the Daughter of the Shocking Heavenly Fate, Mo Yao, have gained 10,000 villain points and two additional years of lifespan.]
Above, Mo Leng rubbed his eyes and turned to Mo Xiao. “Father, I dreamed that grandpa really knelt and cried while striking!”
