“President Fu, how can you speak to Sweetie like that?” Before I could say a word, Gu Yan had already stepped forward.

I tugged at his sleeve from behind and shook my head, signaling him to step aside and not get involved in the conflict between Fu Shuhua and me.

Although my initial cooperation with Gu Yan was to break free from Fu Shuhua’s control, his thoughtfulness during our time together made me instinctively hope that he wouldn’t be affected by this lunatic before us.

My tug on Gu Yan’s sleeve caught Fu Shuhua’s attention.

He sneered coldly, “Jiang Tian is my woman. What I say to her has nothing to do with you,” his tone dripping with disdain.

“Fu Shuhua, what do you mean? I’ve told you long ago that you have nothing to do with me!” I glared at the man in front of me.

His sarcastic tone only worsened my already bad mood.

He was clearly about to marry Liang Lei, yet he clung to me relentlessly. It was repulsive.

“Don’t you understand what I mean?” Fu Shuhua’s smile turned even colder.

His eyes swept contemptuously over Gu Yan behind me before settling back on my face.

“Jiang Tian, how did I never realize you’re such a good actress? Pretending to be weak and innocent, and now acting so aloof?”

“Fu Shuhua!” His words ignited a fire within me. I stood up abruptly but felt dizzy from the sudden movement.

Gu Yan hurriedly steadied me, concern etched on his face. “Sweetie, are you alright?”

“I’m fine.” I shook my head, forcing myself to endure the discomfort and looked at Fu Shuhua again. “Mr. Fu, what exactly do you want by coming here today? If you have nothing to say, please leave. You’re not welcome here!”

“Oh? Here?” Fu Shuhua’s tone grew icier. “With Miss Jiang’s wealth, can she even afford to stay in this hospital?”

His gaze sliced toward Gu Yan like a knife. “I want to ask, President Gu, why are you here so late instead of at your company? What do you mean by coming into the ward I pay for to see my woman? Why do you like coveting others’ things so much?”

Gu Yan’s face darkened as he replied sharply, “President Fu, Sweetie is her own person. She belongs to no one, and she’s certainly not some possession you can talk about.”

“Oh?” Fu Shuhua sneered. “President Gu is quite understanding. No wonder our Sweetie ran off with some suddenly appearing man in just a few days. Turns out President Gu has such a silver tongue. I wonder if that mouth of yours…”

“Fu Shuhua, watch your words!” I snapped, unable to hold back. “My relationship with Gu Yan is none of your business!”

Fu Shuhua’s face instantly turned ashen. He fixed me with a deadly stare and said deliberately, “Jiang Tian, what are you still pretending with that innocent act?”

“Do you think I don’t know what kind of man you are? Now that you’ve hooked up with Gu Yan, you want to kick me aside? You think…”

“You…” I trembled with anger, about to retort when Gu Yan cut in.

“Fu Shuhua, you’ve gone too far! You don’t deserve to be with Sweetie!” Gu Yan couldn’t stand it anymore. “You keep calling Sweetie your woman, but do you know what she went through in the parking lot because of you…”

“Gu Yan!” I grabbed his arm, stopping him from continuing.

Fu Shuhua always thought I was with Gu Yan for money, but from the beginning, all I wanted was to survive!

With Liang Lei around and staying by Fu Shuhua’s side, I wouldn’t be safe. But what good would it do if Fu Shuhua knew the truth?

He never had feelings for me—only possessiveness.

Even though he knew Liang Lei would harm me, he couldn’t let go of the woman destined to be his fiancée.

On his scale, I was always the one discarded.

“Whether I deserve it or not is none of your business!” Fu Shuhua roared, suddenly swinging a fist toward Gu Yan’s face.

I didn’t expect his sudden rage and lunged forward, blocking Gu Yan.

“Sweetie!” Gu Yan cried out, hastily steadying me.

Fu Shuhua stopped mid-punch when he saw it was me, but I lost my balance and fell to the side.

“That’s enough, Fu Shuhua.” I weakly pushed Gu Yan away.

“Jiang Tian, you’ve got some nerve, all for this man…” Fu Shuhua clenched his fists, seeming to hold back immense fury.

He opened his mouth as if to say more but ended up silent, swallowing his anger and turning away from the ward.

I remained silent.

Gu Yan wanted to say something but I stopped him.

“Gu Yan, thank you. Please leave me alone for a while.”

Gu Yan sighed and left the ward.

In the parking lot, Fu Shuhua’s car was parked as he sat behind the wheel, his face dark and stormy.

A figure approached and gently tapped on the car window.

Fu Shuhua rolled it down and furrowed his brows. “Why aren’t you gone yet?”

It was his fiancée, Liang Lei.

She looked at him with concern. “Shuhua, what’s wrong? You look awful. Did something happen?”

Fu Shuhua remained silent, rubbing his brow irritably.

Seeing this, Liang Lei’s heart ached even more. She spoke softly, “Shuhua, I know you’re hurting inside, but you have to take care of yourself. Miss Jiang…”

“Don’t mention her!” Fu Shuhua snapped, slamming his hand on the steering wheel.

Jiang Tian.

Just a toy to amuse himself.

That woman didn’t deserve to disturb his thoughts.
