Chapter 8: Does He Please You More?
After breaking free from Fu Shuhua’s control, I checked the door three times that very night before daring to sleep with the light on.
The next day, my performance during filming was poor; I messed up two or three times.
The director shook his head repeatedly but didn’t dare to scold me as usual; instead, he asked me to step aside and adjust.
In the afternoon, after regaining my composure, the shoot went smoothly.
When the director called “cut,” I rubbed my aching shoulder, and Assistant Xiao Ya promptly handed me a thermos cup.
“Sister Tian Tian, have some water.”
“Thank you.” I smiled sweetly at Xiao Ya, and the young girl immediately lowered her head slightly.
Xiao Ya was a temporary assistant assigned to me by the producer—a treatment I had never received before.
After all the scenes were finished, the crew began to leave one by one.
I glanced at my phone’s time just as a commotion erupted outside the door.
“Two luxury cars just pulled up at once. When did our little set get such a grand arrival?”
“Who knows? Maybe they’re here to pick up Sister Xue?”
The Sister Xue they mentioned was the lead actress in this film, but I distinctly remembered she had hurried out the back gate right after wrap.
Curious, I moved closer to see what was happening.
A flashy red sports car stopped at the set’s entrance, alongside a low-key black Maybach.
My heart sank sharply. I put down the thermos cup and immediately wanted to leave the scene.
But I was a step too slow; someone from one of the cars spotted me.
“Jiang Tian.” The man’s voice was deep and gritted through clenched teeth.
My body shuddered instinctively, and my legs began to weaken.
It was Fu Shuhua.
I had deleted his contact the last time, trying to sever ties completely.
Who would have thought he would come looking for me?
Dressed in a cold, sharp black suit, his expression was so dark it seemed to drip with menace as he strode toward me.
I knew I couldn’t escape and prayed he wouldn’t make a scene at the set.
At that moment, a gentle voice sounded ahead.
“Jiang Tian, what are you standing there for? Come on, get in the car.”
Following the voice, I saw Gu Yan standing by the red sports car, holding a large bouquet of vibrant red roses.
He wore a casual white suit, his expression warm and sunny, like the morning sun in winter, pulling me out of icy waters.

“I’m coming!” I shifted my body, deliberately avoiding Fu Shuhua and ran toward Gu Yan.
There were many people on set, and quite a few recognized either Fu Shuhua or Gu Yan.
At that moment, some were secretly taking photos of us with their phones.
Thanks to Gu Yan’s presence, my nerves settled a bit.
The Fu Group cared about public opinion; Fu Shuhua likely wouldn’t do anything too outrageous.
Gu Yan came up to me and handed me the bouquet, his smile dazzling.
“Jiang Tian, you’ve worked hard. I’m here to pick you up. I booked that restaurant you sent me last time. Come on, let the big star treat you to dinner.”
I sensed his teasing but didn’t refuse. I lifted my head, smiled at Gu Yan, and linked my arm with his.
Just then, Fu Shuhua strode over, snatched the bouquet from my hands, and threw it heavily on the ground, his tone icy.
“Jiang Tian, I’m still here.”
Ignoring Gu Yan, he wrapped his arm possessively around my waist, asserting his claim.
“She’s mine.”
“Oh?” Gu Yan rolled up his sleeves, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes. “I seem to recall Fu’s fiancée doesn’t have the surname Jiang, does she?”
Fu Shuhua said nothing, maintaining his confrontational stance. I was stuck between them, unable to move.
The weather had turned chilly, and I was still wearing the long dress from filming. I couldn’t help but sneeze.
Gu Yan nodded to his assistant, Ken, who quickly fetched a bright red scarf.
“Tian Tian, this is specially for you.”
“Tian Tian” was my nickname—Gu Yan’s first time calling me that made my cheeks flush.
He bent down and wrapped the scarf around me.
The new Burberry scarf was soft and warm, covering half my face.
“Mr. Fu should know the saying: a good dog doesn’t block the road.”
Gu Yan took my hand and gently pushed Fu Shuhua aside.
From the corner of my eye, I saw the man’s face darken with rage.
“Senior…” My voice was barely a whisper, palms sweaty.
Gu Yan seemed to sense my worry and squeezed my hand reassuringly.
“Don’t worry. No one dares to hurt you.”
I shifted slightly to hide behind Gu Yan, trying to keep as far from that lunatic Fu Shuhua as possible.
“Mr. Fu, I have plans tonight. If you want to see me, feel free to visit during work hours next time.”

I smiled faintly and bid Fu Shuhua goodbye.
Though I didn’t want to see this man again, in the entertainment industry, appearances had to be maintained.
Fu Shuhua shot a challenging glance at Gu Yan, his furrowed brows betraying restrained anger.
Gu Yan was equally unyielding, standing firm before me and glaring back.
“Jiang Tian, does he satisfy you better in bed than I do?” Fu Shuhua said coldly.
He turned his face slightly toward me but kept his eyes locked on Gu Yan.
They were about the same height, their standoff a perfect match.
Hearing Fu Shuhua’s words, I almost screamed in shock.
How dare he?!
So many people were on set! And he just said that!
I looked around in panic. The crew had stopped their work, watching us curiously, whispering incessantly.
Many had already raised their cameras to film us.
I was about to suffocate from embarrassment, wishing I could disappear into the ground.
The only consolation was that Fu Shuhua’s overwhelming presence seemed to intimidate the crowd; no one dared approach, and they probably didn’t catch what he said.
Gu Yan frowned slightly, clearly disapproving of Fu Shuhua’s words.
“Mr. Fu, Tian Tian is a good girl. You have no right to speak about her like that.”
I looked gratefully at Gu Yan.
He gripped my hand tightly, and an inexplicable sense of security washed over me.
But no sooner had he spoken than Fu Shuhua snorted lightly.
“Do you know her well?” Without warning, Fu Shuhua yanked me from Gu Yan’s grasp.
He was trained in sanda (Chinese kickboxing), and with Gu Yan unwilling to see me hurt, Fu Shuhua seized the upper hand.
“What are you, to think you can interfere in my business with Jiang Tian?” Fu Shuhua sneered, tightening his arms to imprison me firmly, then scooped me up horizontally and strode toward his black Maybach.
I struggled to break free, but his strength was overwhelming.
Two or three security guards in black surrounded us, blocking Gu Yan’s path. Meanwhile, the onlookers raised their cameras again.
