This was somewhat different from what Ning Huaizhi had imagined an interview would be like.

Although she had never interviewed for a golf caddie position before, wasn’t this line of questioning a bit too hasty?

The attendant standing nearby hesitated, as if wanting to say something.

He tried to speak up but was stopped by An Xingcai.

“Are you any good at golf?” An Xingcai couldn’t help but laugh aloud.

Then, scrutinizing the person before him with a mocking tone, he said, “I honestly don’t know where you get your confidence from. Judging by your appearance, you probably haven’t played much golf at all. How dare you say such things?”

Ning Huaizhi’s clothes were made of very ordinary fabric, cheap enough to look like a sports outfit worth only a few dozen yuan. She couldn’t even afford a decent outfit, let alone a set of golf clubs.

Even decent golf clubs would cost tens of thousands, not to mention the good ones.

That was just the basic equipment. Once you stepped onto the course, the money spent would flow like water. There was no way the person in front of him could afford it.

Lying without any preparation or a hint of guilt was exactly the kind of person he hated most—just like Ning Huaizhi, whom he had bullied before.

An Xingcai had never asked her name and had never seen Ning Huaizhi’s photo, so he didn’t know that the person before him was indeed Ning Huaizhi.

But that didn’t lessen his disdain.

The smile on An Xingcai’s face vanished completely, replaced by a cold and arrogant gaze. Even so, his features remained striking, making him look like a fairy-tale prince.

Faced with such a face, Ning Huaizhi didn’t feel much disgust.

She thought to herself quietly that being good-looking really mattered.

“I’m not lying to you. If you don’t believe me, you can try and see for yourself.”

After all, they were at a golf course; verifying that wouldn’t be difficult.

“All right, since you say so, let’s go see.”

An Xingcai was still fuming over the forum incident from before. Now that someone had come looking for trouble, he was more than happy to oblige.

“Lead the way.” An Xingcai gave a look to the attendant beside him.

The attendant dared not disobey and immediately led the three of them away.

Zhou Jiajia was stunned.

She anxiously grabbed Ning Huaizhi’s sleeve. “Huaizhi, do you really know how to play golf? Maybe we should just leave?”

Zhou Jiajia was full of regret now.

If she had known, she wouldn’t have brought anyone here. This was a high-end golf club frequented by wealthy people, and their attitude toward them wouldn’t be kind.

It was all her fault. Huaizhi hadn’t planned to come, but if she hadn’t insisted, they wouldn’t be here.

Ning Huaizhi seemed to see through her thoughts and patted her reassuringly.

“I’m fine.”

Since they had come, she might as well play along with the young master and show him that there were always others better than him. Such arrogance wouldn’t help in running a golf club.

Soon, An Xingcai stopped.

They had arrived at the locker room; he probably intended to change.

“You go pick out some clothes nearby. I won’t charge you, so you can’t say I’m bullying you.”

“No need,” Ning Huaizhi waved off his offer.

An Xingcai’s eyes widened. “Do you know how much the clothes here cost? They’re all brand new, each piece worth tens of thousands. You probably won’t ever get to wear clothes like these in your lifetime, and you still refuse?”

“Young master, I don’t need them. Even if I don’t wear those clothes, it won’t affect me at all.”

Ning Huaizhi spoke calmly, without raising her tone or boasting. It was as if this matter was natural and unquestionable.

“Hmph,” An Xingcai laughed, though whether it was amusement or irritation was unclear. “Then I’ll be looking forward to seeing your skills.”

With that, he took the clothes handed to him by the attendant and entered the locker room.

Zhou Jiajia grew even more worried.

“Huaizhi, are you really sure? Clothes worth tens of thousands must have something special about them, right? If the young master wears them and you don’t, won’t that be…”

“No,” Ning Huaizhi interrupted. “Good clothes do help one play better, but if not, wearing sportswear is fine too. See? I’m wearing sportswear myself. So, it’s okay.”

Zhou Jiajia hesitated but saw the determination in Ning Huaizhi’s eyes and finally fell silent.

Well, if Huaizhi chose this, there must be a reason.

An Xingcai stormed out and went into the locker room, quickly attracting the attention of others.

Although the golf club had been open for some time, it was the young master’s first visit. Many people wanted to make themselves known in his presence.

So once they learned what had happened, they immediately began to attack Ning Huaizhi.

“Now anyone can play golf?”

“I don’t think she can. The young master already exposed her, yet she still insists she can. If I were her, I’d leave immediately. Staying here is just embarrassing.”

“Look at her shabby appearance; she probably never wore clothes worth tens of thousands. No wonder the young master told her to change. She’s too scared to, afraid she’ll ruin the clothes.”

“It’s better she doesn’t wear them. If she wears them and they get tainted with her cheap vibe, the guests would notice.”

“Whatever clothes she’s worn, the young master probably threw them away already.”

Zhou Jiajia listened, her head almost bowed to her chest, too ashamed to look up.

Seeing her like this, Ning Huaizhi felt distressed. She cupped Zhou Jiajia’s face and forced her to look up.

“Don’t you feel uncomfortable keeping your head so low?”

“I… but everyone is talking about us.” Zhou Jiajia glanced nervously around, afraid of being overheard.

Ning Huaizhi sighed. “They’re talking about me, not you.”

“Besides, the lower your head and the more timid you are, the more people will bully you. It’s not because they have any grudge against you, but because you’re easy to push around. So stop keeping your head down. I’m here, aren’t I? You had nothing to do with this in the first place. Maybe you shouldn’t have come with me.”

She should have taken good care of Zhou Jiajia instead of letting her accompany her to be criticized.

Zhou Jiajia shook her head. “No, I’m just not used to this yet. I’ll stay by your side. I’m not leaving.”

She clung tightly to Ning Huaizhi’s right hand, afraid of being abandoned.

Ning Huaizhi didn’t pull away, chatting with her casually.

Her nervousness eased, and Zhou Jiajia’s attention focused entirely on Ning Huaizhi’s words, the whispers around them fading away.

When An Xingcai emerged from the locker room, Zhou Jiajia finally returned from her own little world.

She paid no mind to An Xingcai, her eyes fixed admiringly on Ning Huaizhi.

It was the first time she no longer cared about what others said.
