Niu Yichen sneered coldly, his figure flickering as he vanished into the night. He did not head straight to the Zhan family estate but instead made his way toward an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city.

According to the intelligence he had gathered earlier, this was likely the enemy’s stronghold.

The deserted factory was deathly silent, the air thick with the metallic scent of rust. Niu Yichen slipped inside without a sound, weaving through the shadows like a phantom.

Inside, the factory was even more dilapidated than it appeared from outside, littered with scattered mechanical parts and discarded materials, resembling a vast graveyard of steel.

“Hmph, quite the hiding spot,” Niu Yichen muttered with a hint of disdain curling his lips.

He knew the true challenge was only beginning.

He pressed deeper into the factory, following a narrow passage lined with rust-streaked pipes and dangling wires that seemed ready to collapse at any moment. The floor was strewn with debris that could betray his presence with the slightest misstep.

Every step was taken with utmost caution; he moved like a nimble cat, silently navigating the darkness. His senses were razor-sharp, picking up even the faintest sounds around him.

Suddenly, a faint mechanical whirring reached his ears. He halted immediately, holding his breath as he listened intently. The sound grew clearer, coming from ahead.

Carefully, he edged forward to a corner and cautiously peered around it.

Before him lay a spacious room with a large metal platform at its center, atop which sat a complex device emitting a low buzzing hum.

Several men dressed in black guarded the platform, alertly scanning their surroundings. Armed and clearly dangerous, they were no ordinary foes.

“So this is the enemy’s lair,” Niu Yichen thought silently.

He refrained from rash action, instead continuing to observe, searching for the perfect opening. He knew that stirring the hornet’s nest prematurely would spell disaster.

Then, one of the guards seemed to sense something; he abruptly turned his head and stared directly in Niu Yichen’s direction.

“Who’s there?” the guard barked sharply.

A chill ran through Niu Yichen’s heart—he had been discovered.

No longer hiding, he flashed forward. “Since I’ve been found, let’s end this quickly,” he sneered.

His movements were lightning-fast as he appeared before the guard and struck with a palm.

“Bang!”

A muffled thud, and the guard collapsed.

The others immediately raised their weapons and opened fire. Niu Yichen dodged deftly, weaving through the barrage while counterattacking with precision and speed. Each blow landed with deadly accuracy, felling several men in moments.

Soon, all the black-clad guards lay defeated.

Niu Yichen approached the metal platform, eyeing the intricate device with a flicker of puzzlement.

“What is this?” he murmured, reaching out to touch the cold surface.

Suddenly, a shrill alarm blared, and the lights in the room flickered wildly.

“Not good,” Niu Yichen thought grimly.

He spun around to flee, only to find the door had been locked tight.

“Looks like a trap…” he whispered.

Calm and composed, he scanned the room for an escape route.

At that moment, a chilling voice echoed from the shadows in the corner: “Niu Yichen, you’ve finally arrived…”

He turned toward the sound and saw a man clad in black, face concealed by a mask, slowly emerging from the darkness.

“Who are you?” Niu Yichen asked.

The man sneered coldly, “Who I am matters little. What matters is that you won’t be leaving here alive today…”

A cold smile played on Niu Yichen’s lips. “Is that so? I’m eager to see what you’re capable of…”

Before he could finish, a crushing pressure descended upon him, suffocating and overwhelming.

“You…” Niu Yichen’s expression shifted. “You actually…”

“Have broken through?” The masked man’s lips curved into a cruel smile beneath the mask. “Yes, thanks to you, I’ve shattered my limits. Now, I will make you pay!”

This black-clad figure was none other than Zhao Wuji—the Zhan family’s longtime nemesis, previously severely wounded by Niu Yichen and since vanished.

Niu Yichen narrowed his eyes, sensing the formidable aura radiating from Zhao Wuji. He thought, “This guy has turned his misfortune into strength, improving tremendously…”

Yet, no trace of fear marred his face; instead, an eager smile emerged. “So what if you’ve broken through? Who will emerge victorious remains to be seen!”

“Ha! Still defiant in the face of death!” Zhao Wuji snorted. “Do you think you can escape like last time? Today, you’ll die without a grave!”

Niu Yichen ignored his taunts, taking a deep breath to center himself. He knew this battle would be grueling, leaving no room for error.

“Niu Yichen, I admit you’re strong, but you’re still too young, too naive,” Zhao Wuji said slowly. “Do you think this world survives on kindness and morality? Only absolute power can control everything!”

“You’re wrong,” Niu Yichen replied calmly. “Power isn’t meant to control everything; it’s meant to protect.”

“Protect? Ridiculous!” Zhao Wuji laughed loudly. “Everything you cherish will be destroyed by me!”

“Then let’s see about that.” Niu Yichen’s gaze hardened as a powerful aura erupted from his body.

“Hmph, you won’t cry until you see the coffin!” Zhao Wuji’s eyes gleamed coldly as he lunged at Niu Yichen.

“Come on then!” Niu Yichen shouted, meeting the charge.

Their fists and feet collided instantly, explosive sounds ringing out. The air in the room thickened with oppressive tension.

“Niu Yichen, you’re too naive. Do you think you truly understand this world?” Zhao Wuji growled between strikes. “It’s far more ruthless than you imagine!”

Niu Yichen said nothing, silently enduring the onslaught while searching for an opening.

He knew Zhao Wuji was right—the world was cruel—but he would never forsake his principles.

“Give up, Niu Yichen! You can’t beat me!” Zhao Wuji’s attacks grew fiercer, as if trying to crush him utterly.

“Is that so?” Niu Yichen sneered coldly. “You really think this is all I have?”

Before Zhao Wuji could react, an even stronger aura burst forth from Niu Yichen...

“This is just the beginning…”

His aura shifted suddenly, from serene to razor-sharp like a blade.

He moved unpredictably, evading Zhao Wuji’s strikes like a ghost, each dodge perfectly timed as if anticipating every move.

“Is that all?” Niu Yichen scoffed, accelerating and delivering a punch straight to Zhao Wuji’s chest.

Caught off guard, Zhao Wuji took the blow with a thundering pain, as if struck by a boulder. He was sent flying backward, crashing hard onto the floor.

“Impossible!” Zhao Wuji stared in disbelief. He never imagined Niu Yichen’s strength could be so overwhelming.

Niu Yichen ignored Zhao Wuji’s shock and pressed the attack. His movements were like lightning, his strikes like the wind, each hit packed with immense power that Zhao Wuji struggled to withstand.

“Weren’t you going to make me pay?” Niu Yichen sneered. “Now it’s your turn to pay!”

Zhao Wuji retreated step by step, battered and bleeding, fear filling his heart. He knew he was no match.

“Who… who exactly are you?” Zhao Wuji asked, terrified.

“I’m just a doctor,” Niu Yichen replied calmly.

“A doctor? Impossible!” Zhao Wuji couldn’t believe a mere doctor could possess such strength.

Niu Yichen paid no mind to the disbelief and continued his assault. Using the environment to his advantage, he created a special energy field that trapped Zhao Wuji.

“What is this?!” Zhao Wuji felt himself bound by an invisible force, unable to move despite his desperate struggles.

Zhao Wuji’s subordinates tried to come to his aid but were blocked by traps Niu Yichen had set, unable to approach.

“You all stay put,” Niu Yichen said with a cold smile. “Your leader will fall soon enough.”

Zhao Wuji writhed in agony within the energy field, his body feeling as if it would be torn apart. Desperately, he cried out, “Save me… save me…”

Niu Yichen ignored the pleas and stepped forward, golden needles shimmering coldly between his fingers.

“It’s over…”

His eyes were icy as he whispered. With a flick of his fingers, the needles shot out like lightning, piercing Zhao Wuji’s vital points with unerring precision.

Zhao Wuji didn’t even have time to scream before his body went limp, collapsing with eyes full of unwillingness and terror.

His meticulously crafted conspiracy ended in utter failure.

He never dreamed the power he so relentlessly pursued would be shattered before Niu Yichen.

“Boss!” Zhao Wuji’s men panicked, trying to charge forward but trapped by Niu Yichen’s formation and utterly immobilized.

“Behave yourselves,” Niu Yichen said softly, a cold gleam flashing in his eyes.

With a casual wave, a powerful force swept through, knocking all the men unconscious.

With Zhao Wuji’s fall, his faction disintegrated.

The Zhan family was completely freed from danger, their position further solidified.

Niu Yichen’s name became a legend among the elite, revered by all, his prestige reaching unprecedented heights.

Yet, as Niu Yichen prepared to leave, he suddenly sensed an unusual aura.

He looked up to the sky and saw a strange light streak across the night, vanishing in an instant.

“What was that?” a flicker of doubt stirred within him, an ominous feeling rising.

He reached out as if to grasp the light but was powerless.

Zhan Qingxue approached and followed his gaze skyward but saw nothing.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

Niu Yichen withdrew his gaze and shook his head. “Nothing.”

But the furrowed brow betrayed his inner unease.

Gazing into the heavens, he murmured softly, “The skies are about to change...”
