Niu Yichen gazed into the night sky, unable to banish that strange radiance from his mind.

“The world is about to change…” he murmured again, a trace of excitement in his voice—an excitement he himself had not noticed.

Zhan Qingxue looked at him with concern. “Are you really all right? You look troubled.”

Niu Yichen tousled her hair and smiled. “Relax. What could possibly be wrong with me? At worst, some reckless underling has come looking to get himself killed again.”

Though he spoke so lightly, he knew in his heart that this light was anything but ordinary.

The feeling it brought was not so much danger as something more like…

A summons?

Niu Yichen decided to investigate.

Naturally, the Zhan family strongly opposed the idea. Old Master Zhan went so far as to plead with him earnestly. “Yichen, you’re the guardian deity of our family. What will we do if something happens to you? Can’t we just leave this bizarre light alone?”

Niu Yichen smiled calmly. “Don’t worry, Old Master. I know what I’m doing. It’s only a beam of light. What could it possibly do to me?”

He bade farewell to the Zhan family and set out alone on his journey of discovery.

Yet not long after he left the Zhan residence, the surroundings began to grow strange.

Space seemed to twist beneath the grip of an invisible hand. The air grew viscous, making even breathing somewhat difficult.

Niu Yichen’s brows knitted together. This feeling…

It was as though he were being suppressed by the Heavenly Dao!

He tried circulating his true energy, only to find that its flow had become unnaturally sluggish, as though it were trapped in a swamp.

“Interesting.”

The corners of Niu Yichen’s lips lifted slightly, and a hint of battle intent flashed in his eyes.

He was determined to see exactly what this mysterious power was.

He continued forward, every step extraordinarily difficult, as though he were carrying a burden weighing thousands of pounds.

Sweat soaked through his clothes, yet his expression remained unchanged and his gaze unwavering.

When everyone expected him to force his way through with his medical arts, he suddenly stopped.

Niu Yichen stood within the bizarre space. Rather than immediately relying on his medical skills to break through by force, he closed his eyes and carefully sensed the pulse of the mysterious power around him.

Though the air seemed frozen solid, the information flowing through it like water could not escape his keen perception.

“There’s definitely some secret hidden behind this light. To think I’d actually encounter something that can suppress even the Heavenly Dao. This is a first for me.”

Niu Yichen spoke to himself, a meaningful smile curling across his lips.

His fingers tapped lightly against the side of his wrist, as though accompanying himself with a rhythm.

Suddenly, he seemed to hear the beat of the power’s rhythm in his ears.

Niu Yichen gathered his concentration with his eyes closed. When he opened them again, his gaze blazed like a torch, shooting toward a certain direction.

“This is it.”

Without hesitation, he lifted his foot and cut into that seemingly impenetrable domain, his movements swift as the wind.

The Zhan family’s bodyguards had followed from a distance. They all stared in astonishment as Niu Yichen moved freely through the strangely distorted space, crossing it as easily as though he were walking on level ground.

In an instant, the suppression receded like the tide. Moving in harmony with its rhythm, Niu Yichen passed effortlessly through layer upon layer of obstacles.

The Zhan family bodyguards who had followed him wiped the cold sweat from their brows, their emotions tangled.

“As expected, Niu Yichen really isn’t an ordinary man. He can even unravel something this bizarre!”

Niu Yichen, however, remained completely unperturbed. If anything, he found it rather amusing.

With his hands clasped behind his back, he strolled onward at leisure, as though he were still searching for something.

Suddenly, he stopped. At some point, the breeze had already dried the fine sweat on his brow.

He surveyed his surroundings, faint reflections of the radiance shimmering in his pupils.

An invisible aura seemed to be gathering ahead. A vague sense of pressure welled up within Niu Yichen’s heart.

He drew a deep breath, yet not the slightest trace of tension appeared on his face.

At that very moment, a leaf drifted gently down from the roadside. Niu Yichen caught it with one hand, and a faint smile once again touched his lips.

“Looks like the game has only just begun.”

He chuckled as though speaking to himself, then calmly stepped forward.

The aura approaching from ahead seemed to pause and wait, stirring a faint eagerness within him.

In the distance, the glow on the horizon gradually faded, while Niu Yichen’s figure receded farther and farther away.

At the end of that desolate wilderness, it seemed that some unknowable presence was watching his every move.

Niu Yichen continued onward at an unhurried pace, but the scenery along the way grew increasingly bizarre.

Trees twisted into grotesque shapes, as though silently shrieking. Cracks split open across the ground like the gaping maws of colossal beasts.

Even Niu Yichen, who had seen more than most, could not help marveling at how formidable this place was.

Suddenly, a figure appeared ahead, its entire body shrouded in a hazy halo, like an NPC that had stepped out of a game.

The person stood with his hands behind his back and spoke indifferently. “Halt. The land ahead is forbidden.”

Niu Yichen raised a brow. “Forbidden? Did you write your name on it? Besides, challenging authority is what I enjoy most. The more you refuse to let me pass, the more determined I am to go.”

“If you insist on throwing your life away, don’t blame me for showing no mercy.”

The mysterious figure’s voice turned cold. A long sword suddenly appeared in his hand, its blade gleaming with rune-lit radiance.

The sword looked utterly unremarkable, yet Niu Yichen felt an overwhelming pressure emanating from it, as though it could crush him to pieces.

“Seriously? We’re doing this for real?”

Niu Yichen refused to be intimidated. He circulated his true energy and prepared to fight.

The mysterious man attacked first. Sword light burst forth like a rainbow, carrying a razor-sharp aura straight toward Niu Yichen.

Strange runic power was embedded within the sword aura, binding Niu Yichen with an invisible force and slowing his movements.

“Interesting.”

The corners of Niu Yichen’s mouth lifted slightly, excitement flashing in his eyes.

He activated the Longevity Art. True energy surged through his body and instantly shattered the runic restraints.

His figure became as swift as lightning. He dodged the mysterious man’s attack and immediately launched a counterattack.

Niu Yichen’s attacks appeared casual, yet each contained exquisite technique. Every strike landed precisely upon one of the mysterious man’s weaknesses.

The mysterious man had clearly not expected Niu Yichen to be so powerful. He was driven back again and again, shock spreading across his face.

The small animals in the vicinity were terrified by the fierce battle and fled in every direction, leaving the scene in utter chaos for a time.

The longer Niu Yichen fought, the bolder he became. Every move carried the force of thunder, as though he intended to defeat the mysterious man completely.

Driven into a desperate corner, the mysterious man’s eyes flashed with viciousness. He suddenly let out a roar, and the runic light covering his body blazed even more brightly.

The long sword in his hand began to hum, as though it were about to unleash an even greater power…

But Niu Yichen suddenly stopped.

His gaze burned into the mysterious man as he said mildly, “You’re ill. You need treatment.”

The mysterious man was utterly bewildered by the abrupt remark. For a moment, he even forgot to attack.

Niu Yichen seized the opportunity to step forward, grasp the man’s wrist, and place his fingertip against his pulse.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. Your pulse is a complete mess—like a tangled hemp rope. Your internal organs are all suffering, and you’ve got an old illness that was never properly treated. If you keep delaying, it’ll become incurable!”

Niu Yichen shook his head, wearing an expression that seemed to say, You’re finished.

The mysterious man’s face changed dramatically. He tried to wrench himself free, only to discover that his body could no longer move.

Niu Yichen tapped several acupoints on his body. A warm current instantly spread through him, and the agonizing pain that had previously been almost unbearable eased considerably.

“What… what did you do to me?” the mysterious man asked in terror. The sensation was so comfortable that it frightened him.

“Don’t be nervous. I merely helped you suppress the symptoms temporarily. Consider it a little gift for our first meeting.”

Niu Yichen smiled brightly. “Now we can have a proper discussion about that light. Confess and you’ll be treated leniently; resist and you’ll be dealt with harshly. Understand?”

The mysterious man’s expression shifted between gloom and uncertainty. In the end, he conceded.

“That light… is a passage leading to another world…”

“Another world? A parallel universe or some other realm? What conditions are required to cross over? Are there any hidden dangers?”

Niu Yichen fired off his questions in rapid succession, looking every bit like an inquisitive child.

The mysterious man was just about to answer when he suddenly gave a strange smile.

“What difference does it make if I tell you? You’re about to face a true catastrophe. Hahahaha…”

Niu Yichen’s heart tightened, and an ominous premonition surged within him.

He was about to press further when he realized that the mysterious man had already fainted. No matter how much he called out, the man would not wake.

“What the hell? Are you messing with me?”

Niu Yichen rolled his eyes speechlessly. This turn of events was absurdly melodramatic.

He looked up at the sky. That strange radiance was still flickering, as though mocking his ignorance.

“Hah. Trying to scare me? I, Niu Yichen, wasn’t raised to be frightened so easily!”

Niu Yichen gave a cold snort, determination flashing in his eyes. “No matter what dangers lie ahead, I’m going to find out for myself!”

He turned and continued toward the light, his steps firm and fearless.

Suddenly, the ground vanished beneath his feet.

“What the hell?! What’s going on?!”
