Chapter 25: The Divine Physician Breaks the Formation at the Pinnacle

“Maybe... we should just go back. There are so many tourist attractions—we won’t miss this one...” Niu Yichen rubbed his hands together and forced a dry laugh.

The thought of destroying heaven and earth alone gave him a headache.

He had struggled his way to the Immortal Longevity Realm at last. He had no desire to die young.

Zhan Qingxue shook her head firmly. “No! We’ve already come this far. How can we give up now? Besides, Grandfather is still waiting for us...”

Niu Yichen’s inner thoughts: The old man is already so old. Making him wait a little longer shouldn’t hurt...

But he did not dare say it aloud.

Once his wife had issued an imperial decree, what room did he have to bargain?

“All right, all right...” Niu Yichen sighed and began seriously examining the runes on the barrier.

The twisted, tangled scrawls made his eyes ache.

“Brother Chen, how is it?” Zhan Qingxue asked anxiously.

The barrier suddenly blazed with light, and a powerful force sent the two of them flying backward.

“Damn! This thing has automatic defense too?!” he complained, rubbing his sore rear.

Zhan Qingxue fared no better. After hitting the ground, she lay there for quite some time before managing to get up.

“Brother Chen... I feel... the barrier’s power is growing stronger...” Her face was pale, and her voice weak.

Niu Yichen had noticed it as well.

The energy radiating from the barrier grew stronger by the second, and every attempt to approach it was met with a tremendous impact.

Their bodies were already covered in wounds, their clothes stained red with blood.

“Qingxue, fall back. I’ll give it a try!” Niu Yichen shielded her behind him, drew a deep breath, and summoned all the power of his Immortal Longevity force.

He slowly raised his palm. A golden radiance burst from it and struck the barrier head-on.

“Boom!”

The light collided with the barrier, erupting into a dazzling flash.

Yet the barrier remained completely intact. Not even the slightest crack appeared.

Niu Yichen’s expression turned grim. Ordinary attacks were clearly useless against this barrier.

“Brother Chen...” Zhan Qingxue’s voice trembled. “Are we... going to...”

Niu Yichen clenched his fists, his gaze resolute. “Don’t give up! There has to be a way!”

He once again examined the runes on the barrier in minute detail. A bold idea slowly surfaced in his mind...

He turned toward Zhan Qingxue, a strange light flickering in his eyes.

“Qingxue...” His gaze burned as though two laser beams were shooting straight at her. “Qingxue, I need your power!”

Zhan Qingxue froze for a moment, then immediately understood.

Although she knew nothing of medicine and possessed none of the Immortal Longevity force, she knew that Niu Yichen must have discovered some crucial point and needed her cooperation.

“Brother Chen, what do you need me to do?” she asked without hesitation.

Niu Yichen drew a deep breath and explained, “The runes on this barrier aren’t part of an ordinary formation. They’ve been fused with a special kind of life energy. I need you to use your blood to activate them!”

Without the slightest hesitation, Zhan Qingxue drew a dagger and sliced open her palm.

Bright red blood dripped onto the barrier like scattered sparks, instantly igniting the runes.

The runes began to flicker, radiating a blinding light.

Niu Yichen’s body also began to emit a powerful energy that intertwined with the light of the barrier.

Zhan Qingxue stared at him, her eyes filled with awe.

“Brother Chen! Stop! Don’t keep going!” Zhan Qingxue screamed, trying to stop him.

Niu Yichen’s eyes flew open, and a trace of determination flashed within them.

He knew there was no turning back.

“Qingxue...” He looked at her, his eyes filled with tenderness and love. “If... if I can’t make it back...”

“Don’t say that!” Zhan Qingxue cut him off. “You can do it! We’ll get out together!”

Niu Yichen gazed deeply at her, then turned back toward the barrier, his eyes unwavering.

“Then let’s risk it all!”

With a low roar, he poured the last shred of his strength into the barrier.

“Brother Chen!” Zhan Qingxue cried out in alarm, reaching for him.

Niu Yichen suddenly looked back and gave her a reassuring glance. Then, with grim resolve, he charged straight toward the barrier.

“I’m giving this everything I’ve got!” he shouted, carrying the tragic grandeur of someone prepared to face death without flinching.

Of course, most of it was just acting.

The barrier seemed to have been enraged, and its attacks grew even more violent.

Beam after beam of energy shot toward Niu Yichen like a rain of lasers.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The sound of the beams tearing through the air made one’s scalp prickle.

Niu Yichen moved as lightly as a swallow, darting left and right with the agility of a monkey as he threaded his way through the gaps between the energy beams.

“Brother Chen, watch out!” Zhan Qingxue watched in terror, wishing she could rush over and help him.

While dodging, Niu Yichen drew out his golden needles and fired them at the runes on the barrier.

The golden needles pierced the air with sharp whistles. Yet the moment they struck the runes, a powerful force bounced them back. They could not shake the runes in the slightest.

The energy beams grew denser by the second, leaving Niu Yichen less and less room to maneuver. Just as he was about to be struck, inspiration suddenly flashed through his mind. He remembered the mysterious power he had absorbed earlier within the rift.

“That’s right! How could I have forgotten about that?!”

Delighted, he hurriedly summoned that power and fused it with his own Immortal Longevity force.

The instant the two forces merged, Niu Yichen felt strength surge through his entire body, as though he had an inexhaustible supply of primordial power.

Niu Yichen slammed the fused power into the runes with all his might.

This time, the runes finally cracked!

Crack, crack, crack!

The fractures spread continuously, covering the entire barrier like a spiderweb.

“Brother Chen, you did it!” Zhan Qingxue cried excitedly, hope shining in her eyes.

Niu Yichen’s spirits soared. He knew victory was within reach!

He gathered the last of his strength, preparing to unleash his most powerful attack...

“Wait...” Niu Yichen suddenly stopped, his eyes fixed on one particular spot on the barrier. “What is that...”

He drew a deep breath. The energy in his core churned violently, and dazzling golden light gathered between his palms, resembling a miniature sun.

“Take this! My ultimate finishing move—the Invincible Spiral Sphere!”

With a thunderous roar, he hurled the energy ball in his hands at the barrier.

An earth-shaking explosion rang out, and the entire space shook violently as if heaven and earth themselves were about to collapse.

Blinding white light instantly engulfed the entire area, and Zhan Qingxue instinctively shut her eyes.

When the light faded, she slowly opened her eyes. The sight before her left her stunned.

The barrier that had once seemed indestructible had been reduced to dust, vanishing without a trace.

Niu Yichen stood proudly amid the destruction, golden light radiating from his entire body like a heavenly god descending to earth.

“Brother Chen! You’re amazing!”

Overcome with excitement, Zhan Qingxue threw herself into his arms, her eyes filled with admiration and affection.

Niu Yichen smiled smugly and patted her head. “It was nothing, nothing. Just basic technique. No need to make such a fuss.”

His inner thoughts: Good thing my acting skills held up. That performance was flawless!

Just as the two of them were basking in the joy of victory, Niu Yichen suddenly sensed something unusual.

A mysterious fluctuation of power came from somewhere in the distance, spreading outward like ripples.

The fluctuation was exceedingly faint. If Niu Yichen had not possessed Immortal Longevity force, he would never have detected it.

“What’s wrong, Brother Chen?” Zhan Qingxue asked with concern when she noticed his strange expression.

Niu Yichen knitted his brows and gazed into the distance, a grave look flashing in his eyes.

“Something’s happened...”

He extended a hand, sensing the residual fluctuations of energy in the air. His expression gradually turned solemn.

“This power...”

He turned to Zhan Qingxue, determination in his eyes.

“Qingxue, let’s go!”

Although Zhan Qingxue had no idea what was happening, she trusted Niu Yichen completely.

She nodded and clasped his hand tightly. Together, they sprinted toward the direction from which the fluctuation had come.

Not long after they departed, the space where the barrier had stood suddenly twisted, and a black vortex appeared...

At the center of the vortex, a cold voice slowly rang out:

“Interesting... Someone actually managed to break through my formation. It seems I’ll have to meet you personally...”
