“Young Master Qin, you are questioning my sincerity toward the Song Kingdom.”
“Tch. You’re from the Dali Kingdom, and your family is there as well. How could you possibly be sincere toward the Song Kingdom?”
“Young Master Qin, you’re wronging me!”
“I’ll tell you this: I’ve already sent word back through the Universal Heaven Sect. If my parents lose even a single hair, I’ll wipe out the families of everyone involved. Do you really think that hiding your family in the Dali Kingdom will keep me from finding them?”

Fear flashed in both of Guo Qi’s eyes.
The three words “Universal Heaven Sect” were unknown to its peripheral members. Only those in the Qi Nourishing or Qi Refining Stages who wielded a certain degree of authority were qualified to know them. Since Qin Anyu could utter those words, someone had clearly betrayed the organization.
Qin Anyu had only learned of it after interrogating several Qi Refining cultivators. He had not expected the organization, which claimed that it would unify the entire Spirit Bridge Plane, to be so cautious in its operations.
When Shopkeeper Wang had confessed twice, he had never mentioned the name. His status was simply too low. He had only been a hidden operative planted within the Eagle Gang, and therefore knew nothing about it.
Qin Anyu’s words frightened not only Guo Qi but also the four palace guards.
They had no idea what the Universal Heaven Sect represented, but they had carried out several secret tasks for Guo Qi. Seeing the fear in his eyes, they realized just how thoroughly they had been used.
After the panic of one of the Eighth-Realm guards reached its peak, he roared and charged at Qin Anyu.
Qin Anyu caught the fist coming at him and slammed the man hard into the ground.
The guard’s head struck the floor and plowed through the corridor, then continued on into the courtyard.
When he finally raised his head, his face was no longer recognizable. His skin was split, and his flesh was a bloody mess.
After throwing the Eighth-Realm guard aside, Qin Anyu seized Guo Qi by one foot and turned to leave.
“I wanted to give you a quick death, but you failed to appreciate the opportunity. I’ll have to trouble you for a while longer.”
Guo Qi was dragged from the bed headfirst, his feet in the air, and let out a pained groan.
He had wrapped himself so tightly that he had never imagined he might encounter a situation like this.
Qin Anyu ignored him and continued forward, descending three steps and entering the courtyard before heading toward the main gate.
Guo Qi’s head repeatedly struck the ground, producing a steady series of thuds.
Ye Tian and his servant were still standing there. Seeing Qin Anyu drag Guo Qi out in such a manner, they looked rather strange.
As Qin Anyu passed in front of them, Ye Tian could not help saying, “Brother Anyu, aren’t you afraid he’ll launch a surprise attack?”
So this man really did possess a special ability.
Guo Qi was in the early stage of Qi Refining, yet hardly anyone in the palace guards knew it. His severe injuries had been an act, and neither the guard who had carried him back nor these four palace guards knew the truth.
Yet Ye Tian did.
Qin Anyu said disdainfully, “With injuries this severe, and wrapped up like a dumpling, if he were capable of a surprise attack, he wouldn’t be hiding among the palace guards. He would have gone to the Universal Heaven Sect and taken on a more important position long ago.”
Seeing that Qin Anyu had answered him, Ye Tian’s brows lifted with delight. He stepped forward and said, “Brother Anyu, we’re investigating the Universal Heaven Sect as well. Could you hand him over to us? Don’t worry—we’ll share whatever information we obtain from him with you.”
Qin Anyu shook his head. “No need. I can question him myself. May I ask how you found this place?”
Ye Tian smiled. “There’s no harm in asking. In a cave on Mount Huai, we discovered several wounded disciples of the Universal Heaven Sect. As it happened, one of them was Guo Qi’s superior contact. What’s amusing is that the fellow was only in the Eighth Realm, while this man is in the early stage of Qi Refining.”

He had awakened everyone who could still be revived and questioned them as well. Yet none of them knew Guo Qi.
He had learned that Guo Qi belonged to the Universal Heaven Sect from Fu Li, which was why he had come looking for Guo Qi’s superior contact. He had never expected that contact to be lying there. It truly was a twist of fate.
Fortunately, he had seen that they were gravely wounded and on the verge of death, so he had not killed them. Otherwise, he would have missed an entire line of clues.
Ye Tian continued, “That man’s superior contact is named Hu Quan, and he is in the middle stage of Qi Refining… The palace guards have arrived. I hope you can hand him over to them.”
As he spoke, a squad of palace guards entered through the main gate.
When Qin Anyu saw the one-armed man at the front, genuine respect rose within him.
Wang Fuli had lost an arm that morning, yet he had come out on duty that very evening. He was truly a tough man.
Wang Fuli was also surprised to see him. “Young Master Qin, what are you doing here?”
Qin Anyu released his grip and answered seriously, “I heard that he took part in the attack on my parents, so I came to question him. I didn’t expect him to be injured this badly.”
Since Hu Quan was the superior contact of Guo Qi’s superior contact, he was no longer useful to Qin Anyu. It would be better to hand him over to the palace guards.
Turning to Ye Tian, Qin Anyu said, “I’m handing him over to the palace guards. How will I obtain information from you in the future?”
Ye Tian immediately replied, “You can go directly to the palace guards.”
Qin Anyu shook his head. “The palace guards won’t have much relevant information. Your Ye Clan may be the only one that does.”
Only then did Ye Tian realize that his earlier words seemed to contain a loophole. Yet it was too late to take them back. He produced a wooden token and tossed it over.
“This is a guest elder token of the clan. With it, you can obtain the corresponding information from the Wind-Listening Tower of the Ye Clan.”
There was a Wind-Listening Tower in the prefectural city, but Qin Anyu had never known that it was a property of the Ye Clan, much less that it served as a channel for exchanging information.
He took the token, turned it over a few times, stored it in his ring, and then bade them farewell before leaving.
Watching him walk away, Ji Cong said indignantly, “Young Master, that fellow really has some nerve. What if he uses it to cause trouble?”
Ye Tian replied calmly, “I have a strange feeling that he is far more formidable than what we’ve seen.”
Ji Cong did not understand why Ye Tian had suddenly said that, but he fell silent.
