Chapter 5: Public Displays of Affection
[Page 1/3]
"I really can't take it, this is killing me with laughter. Is this streamer here to entertain or what? Every other sentence is 'big brother' or 'sister.' Seriously, what is this—some mystical fortune teller or a singing and dancing host?"
"I like this girl's personality. Look how well she serves everyone!"
"Big brother, why not let the streamer calculate your fate again? Your girlfriend wasn’t the one you killed, so what’s there to fear?"
Qin Fan saw this comment, and his heart—whether from reality or illusion—started pounding uncontrollably. Damn it, this is deadly! Heart attack alert!
Only one thought raced through Qin Fan’s mind: get out of here fast. This woman is way too eerie; it’s not safe to linger.
With that thought, he tried to end the live connection with Zhang Xiaorui. But to his despair, he couldn’t hang up. Damn it—at this moment, he felt like giving up on life.
Tears silently streamed down the corner of his eyes.
The viewers noticed and exclaimed, "Whoa, big brother’s crying!"
"Oh god, what’s going on? Is he just too moved?"
"Hey, big brother, how much did the streamer pay you to act so hard as a plant?"
Zhang Xiaorui glanced at him, "Big brother, why are you crying? Don’t play like that. How can a fortune-telling session make you cry? This… Big brother, is this really okay?"
"Forget it, looks like I can’t explain it to you. Let the one you think about day and night tell you instead."
"Since you two are so close, surely you have plenty of sweet nothings to share, right?"
Qin Fan wanted to say this woman was doing it on purpose. If not, he’d wash his hair standing on his head.
“What the hell does this woman want? Is she trying to kill me? Damn, this might actually be fatal.” Of course, this was his inner voice.
Without further ado, Zhang Xiaorui clasped her hands, shouted, “Great Lord Laozi, urgent as the law commands!”
In an instant, a golden light shot straight out from Qin Fan’s phone screen.
Before he could speak, a cold breeze swept through the room, chilling him to the core, a shiver reaching deep into his soul.
[Page 2/3]
He was about to ask Zhang Xiaorui why she was trying to trap him, but before he could finish, a figure suddenly appeared in the room.
Calling it a person wasn’t quite right, for this figure cast no shadow nor had a physical body—it was merely a soul.
The woman looked stunning, with pale, delicate skin and a fragile aura. The viewers in the livestream couldn’t remain calm.
"Damn, isn’t that a goddess? Are you sure she’s really dead?"
"If she’s dead, how come she looks so alive? What the hell is going on?"
"I suspect it’s a special effect. The streamer cast some spell, and suddenly there’s a girl. Looks so fake."
"I said it from the start—it’s all scripted. This is a group act. It’s not fortune-telling; it’s a sham."
"Yeah, but it’s a pity the streamer is such a pretty girl, yet she’s doing this kind of thing. Truly, the world is going downhill."
“Qin Fan, you’re really good at acting, huh? After all these years, I never knew you were such a great actor. You should be in movies.”
“If you went into showbiz, you’d surely win an Oscar. Qin Fan—no, big brother—am I right? Big brother…”
“You made so many promises to me back then. Have you forgotten all of them? Why do you want to hurt me? Why?”
“Is it because my existence ruined your plans with that woman? You even got her pregnant.”
“If it weren’t for tonight’s streamer, I’d still be in the dark about all this. You really are a despicable person.”
“Looks like I was just too naive, too foolish. I should thank the streamer for revealing everything. You’re a damned beast.”
As the viewers furiously typed, they suddenly heard Zhao Min call out “big brother.” Everyone stopped typing instantly.
Damn, is the “big brother” joke unbreakable?
Qin Fan looked utterly defeated. At this moment, he only wished to die.
He truly didn’t want to live anymore. If he had known he’d encounter such a ridiculous streamer today, he never would have let Zhang Xiaorui read his fortune.
“Minmin, you… you… you misunderstood me, I didn’t—”
“Misunderstood? You’ve already ruined me like this, and you dare say misunderstood? Qin Fan, oh Qin Fan, you really are a dog.”
“Not like that, Minmin, please listen to my explanation.”
[Page 3/3]
Suddenly, a dark aura enveloped Zhao Min. Her face twisted into a grotesque, terrifying mask, her eyeballs suddenly popping out with a loud thud onto the floor.
Seeing this, Zhang Xiaorui immediately waved her left hand at the screen, and… then nothing. The screen went pitch black—nothing could be seen.
All the viewers lost sight of Zhao Min and Qin Fan. Only sharp, piercing screams came through.
“What the hell is happening? Can someone explain? Is the camera broken?”
“No way. Why can’t we see anything? This is damn annoying.”
“I want to complain about the streamer, this charlatan.”
“Did I just hear that? Did Qin Fan really stab Zhao Min?”
Zhang Xiaorui bared her two small tiger teeth and said to the screen, “The scene is a bit terrifying, not suitable for viewing.”
The viewers were heartbroken.
“You, ahhh, don’t come near me. You’re not the one who killed me. No, no, I didn’t die by your hand.”
“Bro, what you’re saying is confusing me. I was stabbed by you, okay? Who are you trying to fool now?”
“Fan Ge, don’t you think you’re too much? When you loved me, you called me Sweetie. When you didn’t, you stabbed me. You really have a cruel heart…”
The viewers couldn’t see anything, only the chaotic sounds drifting through the air.
Of course, Zhang Xiaorui could see everything. Right now, she stared wide-eyed and stunned at Zhao Min.
She really wanted to say: If you two want to throw your love drama around, do it somewhere else. Damn it, what is this?
“Damn. Seriously? No picture, only sound? Is this polite? Refund, refund…”
At this moment, Qin Fan wanted to scream loudly, “I was wrong, please spare me.”
His legs trembled like a sieve, eyes rolling with more whites showing than pupils, on the verge of fainting.
