Chapter 35: Baiting the Hook
Qi Mu'an led the way, with Li Zelin following closely behind, carrying Chaochao. A silly bird trailed in their wake, accompanied by the bailiffs and a group of eager hopefuls looking to catch some fish.
Upon reaching the fishing spot Qi Mu'an had described, they discovered the fish were in a pool deep within the forest, and the crowd could only sigh at the sight of the water.
"The mouth of this pool is narrow and the water is deep; there's no telling where it leads. The fish are here, and plenty of them, but they’re not easy to catch. Kid, how did you manage to catch them before?"
The lead bailiff asked the soul-searching question. Beside him, someone else appeared...
"Do you really not want to see them?" The newcomer emerged from the ground again, blocking the Purple Emperor's path. "I do not." The Purple Emperor struck out with a fist, and the intruder hurriedly dove back into the earth, reappearing only after dodging the blow.
But nothing happened. Moreover, Fang Chen could actually feel the demon soul’s emotions, sensing its clear dislike for this situation.
Chi Hua moved, crossing the ten-meter distance in a single leap. The massive machete in his hand hummed with the sound of wind and thunder, flashing a cold blue light in the dark night as he brought it down toward Jin Fei’s head.
Song Qingyu’s heart rose to her throat, while... another’s heart plummeted straight to the bottom of the abyss.
As the dust settled, the black flames and the tornado of the Earth-Hall Tyrannosaurus had long since vanished. In their place, a massive crater now gaped before everyone’s eyes.
Two fists collided, flashing with fiery red light, and the immense power instantly sent both men reeling apart.
Liang Tan was not well-acquainted with the Old Madame Cui. In her past life, she had heard her uncle mention that the Old Madame had once taken a liking to her and wanted her to marry into the Cui household. But by then, she was already betrothed to Li Ruo, and the matter had simply faded away.
Coming to the Xingjiao Temple today was a complete whim, just to see the sights and, incidentally, to take Li Zhi and Li Zhen for a stroll.
Once settled, a flash of white light appeared before his eyes, and he suddenly felt a hollow sensation within his body.
Both of them snickered, leaving the Imperial Guards behind me confused about how they should feel about the assassin being captured.
Li Tangtang walked into Xingtian’s tent carrying a kettle of water. Standing before the entrance, she felt her heart racing wildly. After taking a few calm, deep breaths, she steadied herself and stepped inside.
Cheng Xinyan’s smile stiffened; only then did she realize what it meant to lift a rock only to drop it on one’s own feet.
The impatient Zhuo Bufan realized that the lamb was now waiting obediently and would not slip away again. He chuckled self-deprecatingly, watching as the jade-like figure beneath him began to undress for him.
Two tall sweet osmanthus trees were planted outside the dormitory. It was not the season for them to bloom, so there was no fragrance, but the swaying shadows under the moonlight gave the scene a unique charm.
Over the next few years, Mount Luo was no longer the wasteland it had once been; the entire mountain began to teem with life.
Yu Xi stepped closer to get a clear look. Inside the cage was a man—a young man, at that.
"Yes!" After a long while, the master, face streaked with tears, offered a soft smile, followed by a faint, affirmative response.
A-Ye was not the first to do such a thing, and certainly would not be the last, but it was just her luck that the Head Steward had caught her in the act, leading to her expulsion from the Laundry House.
Wu Shaoling let out a dry, awkward chuckle. He truly did not know how to address Xie Yifan. Honestly, in his twenty-plus years of life, this was the first time he had spoken so politely to a security guard of a different social standing.
Although his relationship with Huanyan had yet to improve, he was determined—even if he had to exhaust every possible means—that he would one day make her his wife again.
Before the assassin could react to the Crown Prince’s intent, the Prince suddenly extended two fingers, pinning the tip of the sword, then swept them instantly to the hilt. The entire process took barely a blink of an eye. Though the area was surrounded by elite guards, it is doubtful that even one of them saw the movement clearly.
Seeing Huaping, Ning Zhiyuan felt a sense of "as expected," tempered by an indescribable feeling of loss.
