Outdoor sports?
Unconsciously, several days had passed since the school registration began, and students from other grades had gradually returned to campus to prepare for classes. One day, Chen Zhixuan’s university homeroom teacher notified the entire class to gather in a classroom on the second floor of Teaching Building One, so that everyone could get to know each other.
Chen Zhixuan, along with Chen Feng and Chen Yan, looked around the room curiously, clearly giving off the vibe of three restless troublemakers. Most of the others remained quiet, absorbed in their phones. “Why does it feel like everyone’s just doing their own thing, with no enthusiasm at all?” It was undoubtedly Chen Feng who said this—always a bit thick-skinned. Finding the atmosphere dull, Chen Feng got up and went to the door to smoke. “Smoking all day, you’ll never die?” Chen Zhixuan cast him a disdainful look.
After a while, three people entered—two men and one woman. One of them, a slightly chubby man with curly hair, greeted everyone. “Hello, classmates. I’m your homeroom teacher for the next four years, my surname is Zheng. These two are your counselors—senior students from our department and major. Let’s have them introduce themselves.”
“Hi everyone, I’m Zhang from the 2011 Electrical Engineering class. You can call me whatever you like.” This senior named Zhang was dark-skinned, wore square glasses, and had a face full of acne. Walking with a slightly effeminate gait, Chen Zhixuan’s first impression was that he seemed quite flamboyant.
“Hello, I’m Mao, also from the 2011 Electrical Engineering class. Just call me Sister Mao. If you have any problems, feel free to come to me—I’ll help you avoid pitfalls.” Sister Mao was a bit darker in complexion but otherwise looked good and was very warm-hearted. Chen Zhixuan’s inner thoughts surfaced again.
“Can Sister Mao help me find a girlfriend too?” Clearly, this was Chen Feng speaking. Apparently, this guy came to university mainly to solve his physical needs. Chen Zhixuan and Chen Yan immediately lowered their heads, pretending not to know him—truly at a loss for words.
“Finding a girlfriend is beyond my help—I’m still a single dog myself, hahaha. You just have to work hard,” Sister Mao replied sincerely, still able to respond well to Chen Feng.
“All right, now let’s have everyone introduce themselves. We’ll go down the row by seating order.”
Since it was an engineering major, two-thirds of the class were boys. Naturally, Chen Feng wasn’t interested in the male introductions and quickly, only a few female students remained. At first, he was slouched down, but when the girls began to take the stage, he perked up.
“Hello everyone, my name is Lu Qian. I’m from Shenzhen. I enjoy outdoor sports, and if anyone’s interested, we can form a team. You’re also welcome to visit Shenzhen during holidays.” Lu Qian was bright and cheerful, one of the few who spoke loudly and confidently. She wasn’t very tall—around 160 centimeters—but appeared well-nourished. Chen Zhixuan noticed Chen Feng hadn’t moved and guessed he must be mesmerized, probably drooling. Turning to look, he saw Chen Feng’s vacant expression, who even involuntarily responded, “Sure, sure, I like outdoor sports too—let’s do it together.” It was unclear if Chen Feng’s idea of outdoor sports matched Lu Qian’s.
As Lu Qian stepped down from the podium, Chen Feng immediately called out to her, “Add me on WeChat. We’re classmates now, easier to keep in touch, hehe.” Fortunately, Lu Qian didn’t notice anything odd and generously added him.
“I like this Lu Qian—don’t you dare steal her from me,” Chen Feng said to those around him after adding her on WeChat.
Soon, everyone had introduced themselves, and it was almost time for lunch. “Tonight, I’ll treat everyone to dinner so we can get to know each other better.”
“Thank you, Teacher Yang.”
“University teachers are pretty nice—actually treating us to a meal.”
The group chatted and laughed as they headed off to the restaurant together.
