Chapter 103: Awakened
Moreover, even after learning that Duan Yuqing was a world champion, the members of the team were unwilling to give up their positions. Some even said bluntly, “If Duan Yuqing was that good, why did her previous team terminate her contract?” In short, Qi Bin had too many things to deal with. Especially with this particular team, Qi Bin wanted to watch it grow stronger under his own guidance; he had no desire to let his assistant handle the matter.
“Brother, you really don’t know anything?” Qi Yue was thinking of calling Wei Heng later, but the idea of being the one to initiate the call made her hesitate. Pouting, Qi Yue grumbled, “Brother, something as serious as Sang Yijia being unconscious, and you know nothing about it. What are you even busy with all day?”
Qi Bin was taken aback, not understanding what Qi Yue was referring to. “Wait, what did you just say?”
“Sang Yijia hasn’t woken up. There’s been no news since this morning.”
“Brother, you really don’t know anything?”
“Of course!” Qi Bin finally understood her, “I’ll ask about what’s happening.”
“I’ll tell you later.” With that, Qi Bin didn’t wait for Qi Yue’s response and hung up, preparing to call Lu Wenchuan. But when he found the line was busy, he switched to dial Wei Heng instead.
“Wei Heng, do you know about Sang Yijia?” Qi Bin asked as soon as the call connected. “I can’t reach Lu, what’s going on?”
After hearing from Wei Heng about the situation between Lu Wenchuan and Sang Yijia, Qi Bin understood how important Sang Yijia was to Lu Wenchuan. At this crucial moment, as a good friend and brother, Qi Bin naturally felt he should show concern and ask if there was anything he could do to help.
“You’re just now finding out?” Wei Heng had just finished a call with Lu Wenchuan. “I’ve arranged for Dr. Brown to come, but he’ll only arrive tomorrow by plane.”
“Dr. Brown?” Qi Bin’s brows furrowed. “Is Sang Yijia’s condition that serious?”
“Yes, there’s no diagnosis, and all indicators are normal.” Wei Heng replied, “Oh, do you know Sang Yijia’s third brother?”
“A famous neurosurgeon. He returned from abroad two years ago, and even he can’t find the cause.”
“Who?” Qi Bin heard all this but not the name, so he had no idea who it was.
“Sang Qibo.”
Qi Bin froze. He’d heard of Sang Qibo before; last year, the grandfather next door was hospitalized and Sang Qibo was the lead surgeon. His skills were remarkable, and he was very young—only twenty-two this year!
Qi Bin took a deep breath, “Sang Yijia truly is full of surprises.”
“There’s nothing surprising about it. Her eldest brother, Sang Qiwen, is CEO of Jiayang Technology, and her second brother owns Hongyun Martial Arts School.”
“Hongyun Martial Arts School?” Qi Bin had heard of it; he'd read online that the first thing students had to do upon entry was memorize legal knowledge, and Hongyun Martial Arts School followed this practice.
Anyone studying at Hongyun Martial Arts School had to recite relevant legal statutes fluently. The school also had a team of lawyers. As long as you were brave enough to act righteously, you had nothing to fear.
Qi Bin’s lips twitched, “That’s certainly unexpected.”
“There’s more.” Wei Heng had only recently researched the Sang family. “Sang Yijia’s parents, Sang Zheng, own several buildings for rental income. One of those buildings is your own office building.”
Qi Bin: “?????”
“How did I not know?”
“It’s simple. Sang Zheng hires people to manage these properties. Signing contracts doesn’t require him to show up; the lawyers bring the paperwork right to your door.” Wei Heng shrugged. “There’s more—several local markets are Sang family property too.”
Qi Bin took a deep breath. “Alright, I see.”
“With all these advantages, why would Shen Jin chase after a fake heiress?” Wei Heng tapped his finger on the table. “The Lan family.”
“I remember you had a matchmaking meeting with them, right?”
Qi Bin’s lips twitched again, his brows arching. “Yes, Lan Qingzhu. But her requirements were just too difficult to meet.”
“We weren’t suited for each other.”
“Oh.” Wei Heng wasn’t too interested in the specifics, but thought it might be worth learning from. He changed the topic, “Do you think her demands are worth emulating?”
“What do you mean?” Qi Bin was confused.
Wei Heng hummed, absent-mindedly touching his nose, “I mean, if Lan Qingzhu’s requirements became the standards for your sister’s future partner, would that be unreasonable?”
“Not at all.” Upon reflection, Qi Bin found them not only reasonable but quite logical. “Bro, you’re right.”
“My sister should absolutely marry a live-in son-in-law. That way, she’ll have the upper hand.”
Wei Heng: “???” What kind of taste does the Lan family’s daughter have?
Miscalculation.
“Alright then, carry on.” Wei Heng hung up without hesitation.
Qi Bin frowned, perplexed by the conversation. Then another file arrived on his computer for review, and he soon forgot all about it.
After hanging up, Wei Heng called Qi Yue to ask if she really intended to find a live-in husband.
---
That night, at nine o’clock.
Sang Yijia woke up. The first thing she saw upon opening her eyes was the dimly lit hospital room and a shadowy figure nearby, which startled her enough to cry out.
Sang Qibo had just stepped outside, and Lu Wenchuan was keeping watch for the night. He had just dimmed the lights to let Sang Yijia rest, but unexpectedly, she woke up after only a moment, and was frightened.
Lu Wenchuan hurried to switch on the lights. “Sorry, I scared you.”
“Are you alright?”
“Do you want some water?”
“You must be hungry. What would you like to eat? I’ll go get it.”
Lu Wenchuan watched Sang Yijia, relieved to see her awake, and pressed the button to summon the doctor for a check-up. “You were unconscious all day. How do you feel?”
“Anywhere uncomfortable?”
Sang Yijia was still a bit dazed. She blinked at Lu Wenchuan, uttered an “ah,” then belatedly recalled where she was and what point the story had reached.
“I’m fine.” Sang Yijia hadn’t had water for most of the day, her throat dry and painful. Before she could ask for water, a cup of warm boiled water was handed to her.
“Thank you.” Sang Yijia took a few sips, moistening her lips. “What time is it?”
“Nine in the evening.” Lu Wenchuan sat beside her, then remembered something and took out his phone to send a message.
Sang Yijia looked over curiously, “Are you busy?”
“No.” Lu Wenchuan briefly notified the Sang family that Sang Yijia had woken up, then looked up at her. Her complexion was pale, just as it had been years ago, and his heart skipped a beat.
The phone rang.
