Chapter 114: Is There Anything Else You Wish to Say
Sang Zheng let out two hums and turned his head away, but couldn't help casting sidelong glances at Sang Yijia, muttering quietly, "Who knows if he's actually well-intentioned?"
Sang Yijia responded with a questioning hum, about to ask something, but Sang Mother spoke first, "Alright now, you're a grown man. Are you still bickering with the youngsters out of jealousy?"
Sang Zheng was displeased, "Is it really as simple as jealousy?"
He seemed about to say more, but Sang Mother shot him a look, and suddenly he had nothing else to say.
Sang Yijia covered her mouth, chuckling softly, "Dad, Mom, I told eldest brother last night that I’ll keep working. I’ll only take a break after this program wraps up."
"Your affairs are yours to arrange. I won't object," Sang Mother said, fully aware that her four children were all grown now, no longer seven or eight years old.
"Your father won't object either," she added, answering before Sang Zheng could speak.
Even if Sang Zheng did have objections, now was not the time for him to voice them.
—
The morning passed swiftly. Sang Yijia didn't bother checking the trending topics on Weibo, but Yan Ningsi, who had come to visit her, kept refreshing the news, always reading the comments below.
"Yijia, look, Lan Qing and Shen Jin's fans are all silent now," Yan Ningsi was genuinely amused.
"Before, their fans swept through like locusts, charging ahead at anything they saw." Though Yan Ningsi herself had never been bothered by them, some friends in the industry had, which left her with a bit of a grudge against Shen Jin—though she’d never say it aloud.
Sang Yijia knew the program was on hold, with no clear date for resuming filming. Yan Ningsi had come ostensibly to visit, but from her demeanor, it seemed more like she'd found a spot to play on her phone.
"Ningsi, what about your work?" Sang Yijia asked.
Yan Ningsi froze, "Hey, I'm still waiting, aren't I?"
"Are you sure?" Sang Yijia raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Tell me—did you come early to my place today to avoid someone?"
Without waiting for a reply, she guessed, "Let me see, could it be Bian He?"
In the original story, it was Yan Ningsi who liked Bian He, while Bian He only felt something for Lan Qing. But now, the plot had changed.
Yan Ningsi seemed interested in Zhuang Fei, Bian He appeared to have a slight affection for Yan Ningsi, and Yan Ningsi herself had a bit of interest in Bian He. From this perspective, Yan Ningsi seemed rather fickle.
"It's not him," Yan Ningsi denied, lips pressed together, shaking her head. "Didn't I say Zhuang Fei was adorable before?"
"I ran into him downstairs just now. He invited me to dinner tonight, said he had something to talk about." A few days ago, Yan Ningsi would have been delighted, but now she wasn’t so sure.
She was reluctant to go.
But she didn’t know how to refuse.
Sang Yijia thought it was something serious, but it turned out to be a minor matter, "Does Bian He know?"
"How could he possibly know?" Yan Ningsi's eyes widened. "No normal person would tell him."
"Then just be honest with Zhuang Fei about your feelings," Sang Yijia said, seeing no difficulty in it. "Ningsi, Zhuang Fei is my family nurse. I don’t want to see him troubled by romance."
Yan Ningsi fell silent, then after a while, turned away, pouting and humming, "Yijia, what about you and Lu?"
"What are you planning to do?" Yan Ningsi turned back, gazing intently at her.
Sang Yijia was baffled, "What do you mean, planning?"
"What do you mean, what to do?"
"There's nothing between Lu Wenchuan and me," Sang Yijia replied candidly, leaving Yan Ningsi momentarily at a loss for words. After a pause, Yan Ningsi furrowed her brows, a hint of shock in her voice, "Yijia, don't you know Lu has feelings for you?"
Sang Yijia went quiet.
—
Lu Wenchuan arrived. Sang Yijia looked at him, Yan Ningsi's words echoing in her mind—since when had Lu Wenchuan developed romantic feelings for her?
She shook her head, feeling this notion was wrong.
Lu Wenchuan noticed Sang Yijia was distracted. "Yijia, is something bothering you?"
"No," Sang Yijia denied immediately.
Lu Wenchuan was silent for a moment, not pressing further.
Suddenly, the hospital room was enveloped in an odd silence.
The two of them looked into each other's eyes, neither speaking.
Who knows how much time passed before Lu Wenchuan broke the quiet, "The production team notified me—filming will resume when they give further notice."
"What are your plans next?" He would be returning tomorrow to handle company affairs.
Sang Yijia responded, "I’ll probably just rest at home."
"Not planning to take on new work?" Lu Wenchuan asked.
Sang Yijia shook her head, "No plans for now, I want to rest properly."
"Alright," Lu Wenchuan said after a pause, "I’m leaving tomorrow."
"Travel safely," Sang Yijia blurted out.
Now, there really was nothing left to say.
Lu Wenchuan glanced at the time—it was past eight in the evening. Soon, the Sang family would arrive.
"Then I’ll head out. See you next time," he said, moving his lips, uncertain what he wanted to hear from Sang Yijia to feel satisfied.
Especially since Sang Yijia had regained her former memories, Lu Wenchuan was even more at a loss about how to interact with her.
"Alright, see you next time," Sang Yijia watched him leave the room, her shoulders relaxing, letting out a heavy sigh.
Outside the ward, Lu Wenchuan turned back and caught that very scene, his thin lips moved, and his phone rang in his pocket.
"Mr. Lu, we're all downstairs now."
"Alright." Lu Wenchuan hung up, and as he reached the elevator, his phone rang again.
He glanced down—it was Wei Heng. He raised an eyebrow and declined the call.
Barely thirty seconds passed before Wei Heng called again.
As Lu Wenchuan exited the elevator, he decided to answer, "What is it?"
"Don't you want to know who’s targeting Shen Jin?"
Wei Heng's voice came through. Lu Wenchuan replied, "I know who."
Wei Heng was stunned, silent for a while before asking, "Did you talk to the Sang family?"
Otherwise, how would Lu Wenchuan know it was them going after Shen Jin?
"I overheard by accident," Lu Wenchuan said, spotting his secretary by the car, crossing the hospital entrance.
The secretary opened the rear door as he arrived.
Lu Wenchuan got in, fastened his seatbelt, switched the phone to his other hand, and continued, "Besides this, is there anything else you want to say?"
