The next morning, as soon as Sang Yijia woke up, she saw the message Mo Yani had sent in the middle of the night. Clicking on the link inside, she was immediately stunned.

“How did the female lead end up like this?” Sang Yijia wasn’t one to indulge in such matters, so after glancing at the title and the comments below, she quickly exited and replied to Mo Yani’s message.

The response came instantly.

“Jiajia, it looks like Lan Qing might be quitting the industry for good this time. The show could be canceled halfway through. Have you thought about taking that movie role we talked about before?”

This was a rare opportunity, one Mo Yani had pondered over for a long time before bringing up again.

Sang Yijia stared at the message, lost in thought.

If she remembered correctly, in the original storyline, the female lead had won Best Actress with this very role and had furthered her relationship with the male lead.

But now, both Shen Jin and Lan Qing were in trouble.

Gazing at her phone screen, Sang Yijia tapped the keyboard several times, unsure of what to say.

Mo Yani watched as the other person typed but received no reply. She vaguely guessed Sang Yijia would decline and sighed quietly before an artist nearby asked,

“Mo Jie, what’s going on?”

Xu Ming, the adorable heartthrob of the boy band and the group’s darling, spoke up, drawing the attention of the other members.

Mo Yani shook her head repeatedly. “Nothing, you guys keep going.”

“Really?” Xu Ming looked at her skeptically. “Mo Jie, your dark circles are worse again. Didn’t you sleep well last night?”

“Mo Jie, you need to rest properly.”

“Yeah, if there’s anything we can do ourselves, just say it, don’t hesitate.”

“Mo Jie, why don’t you just go back and rest now?”

“For this kind of magazine shoot, we can handle it ourselves.”

Seeing the genuine concern from her artists, Mo Yani felt a warmth in her heart. “I’m fine. You all hurry up and get ready; we’ll leave soon.”

“Okay,” the boy band responded in unison.

Mo Yani’s phone vibrated. She quickly looked down and sure enough, Sang Yijia had refused again.

“Sigh,” Mo Yani sighed. She had anticipated this day would come eventually, just not so soon.

Shaking her head, Mo Yani put away her phone and began arranging the preparations for the next schedule.

Xu Ming watched Mo Yani leave, pressing his lips tightly together. “Did something happen with Sang Yijia?”

“Having Mo Jie take care of us and look after that young lady must be tough, huh?”

“Everyone, we have to work hard and get popular quickly so we can ask the company to have Mo Jie lead us exclusively.”

“Right!”

“Let’s go!”

The five-person team, united in spirit, became even more motivated and worked harder packing up.

——

After clarifying everything with Mo Yani, Sang Yijia put down her phone and got up to wash up. By the time she came out, it was exactly 8:30.

Sang Qiwu had visited once, saying he was off to prepare the discharge paperwork, while Sang Zheng and their mother went to see Lan Qingshu.

Sang Yijia had no pressing matters; her family simply insisted she stay an extra day out of concern. Knowing everyone was busy, she packed her own luggage and then stepped out to look for someone.

Unexpectedly, she ran into Yan Ningsi and Bian He right outside.

“What are you two doing here?” Sang Yijia hadn’t told them she was being discharged.

Seeing her carrying so many bags, Yan Ningsi exclaimed, “Jiajia, where are your parents?”

“Why didn’t they come?” Yan Ningsi had witnessed how much the Sang family cared for Yijia; they wouldn’t have failed to pick her up unless something more serious had happened.

Sang Yijia glanced at her luggage, nodded slightly, and replied, “They went to see my third brother. I’m taking the chance to pack while they’re away.”

“Where are you headed now?” Without the filming crew following them, Bian He was more relaxed, not fishing for conversation like on the show, but his eyes still gleamed with curiosity.

Sang Yijia pointed in one direction. “First downstairs to drop off my luggage, then back up to visit my brother.”

“And then home.”

Yan Ningsi habitually linked her arm through Sang Yijia’s wrist affectionately. “Jiajia, so what’s your plan next?”

“Lan Qing and Shen Jin have basically fallen out, and it’s unlikely they’ll continue on the show.”

Yan Ningsi felt regretful. After less than a week of filming, everything was left unfinished due to this accident.

She had no idea when filming would resume; it might be canceled altogether.

“Going home to rest,” Sang Yijia answered truthfully.

The two chatted as they walked, reaching the elevator just as it arrived without waiting.

Bian He pressed the button to open the door. “You two meeting up already forgot about me. Looks like I’m just extra.”

“Who told you to come?” Yan Ningsi grumbled in dissatisfaction.

Sang Yijia remembered Zhuang Fei and quietly asked, “Did you make everything clear?”

“Yeah.” Yan Ningsi turned her head shyly. Last night, she had been expecting Zhuang Fei to confess to her, preparing how to reject him, only for him to say he’d thought it over and didn’t like her after all.

Yan Ningsi was stunned.

Just then, Bian He appeared, witnessing this huge misunderstanding and laughing uproariously.

Unable to contain herself, Yan Ningsi gave him a good punch before walking away with flair.

Who would have thought Bian He had such a thick skin? Even after being hit last night, he still showed up grinning in front of the room this morning.

It was enough to make Yan Ningsi laugh in disbelief.

Seeing Yan Ningsi’s expression, Sang Yijia guessed how things had ended. “Isn’t it fine as it is now?”

“Yeah.” Yan Ningsi was melancholy, then suddenly widened her eyes. “Jiajia, didn’t Lu Ge come to pick you up when you were discharged?”

For something this big, Lu Wenchuan wouldn’t just not show up.

Sang Yijia paused. “He left last night.”

Thinking of the news she saw this morning and Lu Wenchuan’s departure last night, could this matter be connected to him?

But then, why?

Sang Yijia shook her head, not wanting to delve deeper.

“That soon?” Yan Ningsi was astonished. “Why?”

“Probably some urgent matter at the company.” Sang Yijia shrugged.

The elevator arrived. Sang Qiwu stood at the entrance and immediately helped Sang Yijia carry all her bags. “Why didn’t you wait for us?”

“Mom and Dad already went to find you.”

“I can manage on my own.” Sang Yijia didn’t want to trouble her family. “Isn’t this saving a lot of time?”

Sang Qiwu had no reply. “Alright, call Mom and Dad. We’ll wait for them in the parking lot.”

Seeing Sang Yijia’s brother arrive, Yan Ningsi greeted him but didn’t stay longer. “Jiajia, we have other things to attend to. We’re leaving now.”

“See you next time.”

Bian He waved goodbye and followed Yan Ningsi into the elevator again.

“You said you wanted to ask Sang Yijia if Lan Qing’s situation was her doing?” Bian He spoke only after the elevator doors closed.
