Chapter 129: An Invitation to Dinner

“Shall we go make breakfast next?” Moyani asked tentatively.
Sang Yijia looked over and shook her head lightly. “No need.”
“???”
Before Moyani could ask why, the group director asked on her behalf.
Sang Yijia curved her lips into a smile. “I’ve already ordered it.”
“Someone will deliver it shortly.”
The moment she finished speaking, the doorbell rang outside.
Sang Yijia did not even need to open the door. After tapping a few times on her phone, the front door swung open.
The cameraman sighed in admiration. “That’s so high-tech.”
The group director thoroughly agreed.
“What else do you usually do, Miss Sang?” The group director had not come merely to make a surprise visit. He was also there to observe each guest’s daily life at home, so that when the footage aired, the other guests and the audience would gain a better understanding of them.
“A little of everything,” Sang Yijia replied. “I don’t have any particular hobbies.”
“Oh, I see.” The group director understood.
The cameraman caught a faint, delicate fragrance. His camera shifted toward the dining table, where a rectangular table was laden with breakfast, with a little of both Chinese and Western cuisine.
There were only two or three pieces of pastry on each plate, and they were all very small—clearly meant for sampling rather than filling one’s stomach.
“Is breakfast always this elaborate?” the group director asked again.
Moyani very much wanted to know the answer too.
“No.” Sang Yijia washed her hands at the bar counter, then turned around and pulled out a tissue to wipe the perspiration from her face. Only then did she slowly walk over and sit down, though she did not begin eating.
“Have you all had breakfast?” Sang Yijia asked, looking up. “Why don’t you sit down and have some?”
Moyani had not even washed up yet. She hurriedly turned toward the bathroom, then ran back after she had gone a short distance. “Jiajia, wait for me.”
“I’ll be right back.”
“All right.” Sang Yijia nodded gently in agreement, then turned to the other staff members. “You can put the filming on hold for a while.”
“It won’t hurt to have a little breakfast.” The group director looked at the tableful of food. If they did not eat it, it would surely go to waste. In that case, why not sit down and have some together?
“Then we won’t stand on ceremony.” The group director took a seat.

The cameraman could not bear to abandon such a wonderful scene. He fixed the camera in place and made sure everyone remained within the frame before going over to sit down and pick up a small pastry.
“Miss Sang.” After the group director had eaten one pastry, someone soon brought over some soy milk. Its fragrance was rich and mellow, utterly incomparable to the two-yuan cups sold outside.
The group director inhaled deeply, then turned to offer his thanks, only to notice several people entering the living room.
“They’re the housekeepers my parents hired to help manage things for me,” Sang Yijia explained. “Uncle Chen and Aunt Zhang.”
“Oh, hello. Hello.” For wealthy families, having a team of housekeepers was perfectly normal. The group director nodded repeatedly. One should never underestimate such a household staff—their monthly salaries were far higher than his own.
“Do they live here as well?” the group director asked, unable to resist.
Sang Yijia shook her head. “No. My parents bought an apartment downstairs, and all the household staff live there.”
“...”
The group director regretted asking.
The cameraman had wanted another pastry, but by then he no longer felt much like eating. The fragrance was simply too tempting, though, and he thought that if he passed up this opportunity, he might never get another chance.
In the end, the cameraman obediently ate several more pastries.
Moyani finished washing up and came out. Only a small portion of the breakfast remained on the table. Sang Yijia still had not touched her chopsticks, so she had evidently been waiting for her.
Meanwhile, the group director and the cameraman had already returned to their posts, working nervously.
Moyani glanced at them twice, then asked Sang Yijia in a low voice, “Why has everyone stopped talking?”
“I’m not sure,” Sang Yijia replied with a smile.
Moyani found it even stranger.
The breakfast filming soon ended. The next segment involved Sang Yijia leaving to sign a contract, which could not be made public, so the production crew could only wait outside the office.
Sang Yijia soon emerged after signing. As luck would have it, Yan Ningsi arrived at the same time to sign her own contract.
The moment Yan Ningsi saw Sang Yijia and the staff behind her, she greeted her warmly. “Jiajia, what brings you here?”
Yan Ningsi still did not know that Sang Yijia had come to take the female lead in Bian He’s web series. After blinking, she looked at the staff behind her. “I heard they might change partners this time. Is that true?”
“I’m not sure yet. The production crew hasn’t told me.” Sang Yijia believed that Lu Wenchuan would not be replaced.
“Do you want a new partner?” Sang Yijia asked, raising her brows.
Yan Ningsi shook her head repeatedly. “Of course not.”
“Bian He and I work quite well together. If they changed him for someone else, we’d have to get to know each other and adjust all over again. That would be such a hassle.”

The guests from the two groups happened to run into each other, and both filming crews exchanged greetings with perfect understanding.
“Where are you going later?” Yan Ningsi asked. “Would you like to come listen to me record a song?”
“Bian He happens to be there too. Let’s have lunch together.” Yan Ningsi took out her phone to contact Bian He, then continued, “Jiajia, ask Brother Lu to come as well.”
“It’s been ages since the four of us last saw each other.” Yan Ningsi narrowed her eyes with a smile. “Let’s have a meal together before filming starts.”
“How does that sound?”
Sang Yijia hummed, looking somewhat troubled. “I don’t know whether Lu Wenchuan has time.”
“If you’re the one asking, he’ll definitely have time.” Yan Ningsi blinked. “I guarantee it.”
“...”
After a moment of silence, Sang Yijia nodded. “All right, then.”
“But I can’t promise he’ll actually come.”
Yan Ningsi made an OK sign with her fingers. “He’ll definitely come.”
“I’ll go sign first. I’ll be out soon.”
“Wait for me. We’ll leave together.”
Yan Ningsi hugged Sang Yijia once more, then went into the office, satisfied.
Sang Yijia watched Yan Ningsi enter, followed by her own filming crew, and immediately felt rather helpless.
“Jiajia, do you have Lu Wenchuan’s contact information?” Moyani’s eyes flicked upward slightly. It was perfectly understandable for the guests to exchange contact details in private, but there had been something suggestive in Yan Ningsi’s words just now.
It almost seemed as though there really was something between Sang Yijia and Lu Wenchuan.
Moyani had previously been too busy dealing with matters concerning the boy band to learn much about Sang Yijia. Now that she had taken over again, she felt as though nothing fit together anymore.
“I do.” Sang Yijia noticed that the camera was pointed at her, and guessed that they also wanted to know whether Lu Wenchuan would agree to come.
However, this time Sang Yijia lifted her head and looked toward the camera, as though she could see something through it. “Does Lu Wenchuan have a filming crew following him too?”
If so, would that expose the fact that his work was not limited to being a programmer?
