Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Six: Let's Have a Talk
At seven o'clock the next morning, the production crew arrived once again.
This time, it was not Mo Yani who opened the door, but Sang Yijia’s butler, Uncle Chen. The segment director was momentarily taken aback before leading his team inside.
"Where is Miss Sang?" This recording was relatively formal, and the director needed to be prepared.
Uncle Chen glanced at the director and then at the staff behind him. "Miss is in the gym. Her workout session will end in another half hour." Uncle Chen was extremely polite. "If you would all please wait here for a moment."
"Of course, of course, thank you." The director grew somewhat restrained.
The group did not film much; after all, this was the guest's private residence. If netizens were to analyze the location, it would be troublesome if obsessive fans came to harass her. Uncle Chen didn't do anything else, simply standing to the side with polite composure. This only made the atmosphere feel even more awkward.
Fortunately, half an hour is neither long nor short.
When Sang Yijia finished her workout, she walked out wiping sweat from her brow. She caught sight of the director in the living room and then looked at Uncle Chen, but said nothing.
"Wait a little longer," Sang Yijia said, turning to look at Auntie Zhang. "Please prepare breakfast. I will shower and then eat."
"Very well, Miss," Auntie Zhang replied, then turned her attention to the director.
Uncle Chen spoke up first, "Would any of you like something to eat?"
"No, no need," the director waved his hands repeatedly in refusal. "We ate breakfast before we came."
Upon hearing this, Auntie Zhang quietly left the living room and headed toward the kitchen. At that moment, Sang Yijia’s assistant arrived. Uncle Chen opened the door.
The personal assistant, Chen Luo, had not expected the production crew to arrive so early. She was stunned to find the house full of people.
"Miss is upstairs and will be down in a moment," Uncle Chen explained in a businesslike tone.
Chen Luo nodded repeatedly. "Right, of course."
Although she had heard from Mo Yani before coming over, Chen Luo couldn't help but gasp as she looked at the expansive living room and then at the reality show staff. "What a magnificent house." Chen Luo was extremely envious.
About twenty minutes later, Sang Yijia came downstairs.
"Sister Jiajia," Chen Luo hurried over. "Today's schedule is set for departure at nine o'clock. I didn't expect the production crew to be here so early." Chen Luo turned to look at the director; last time, he had been the one to forbid guests from bringing assistants. This time, things were different, and assistants were allowed to stay by their side.
Chen Luo felt she finally had work to do and stood proudly by Sang Yijia’s side. "Sister Jiajia, it’s eight o'clock now, so we still have an hour."
"I have already packed the luggage; it is in the opposite room," Sang Yijia said, glancing at the tablet Chen Luo handed her. With a flick of her fair, slender finger, she quickly grasped the day's itinerary.
"Auntie Zhang will go get it in a moment," Sang Yijia said calmly just as Chen Luo was about to offer to go fetch it. Chen Luo murmured an "oh," feeling as though there was nothing left for her to do.
"Miss, this is today's breakfast menu," Auntie Zhang said, handing over another tablet. "The pastries listed are all freshly made today."
"You decide; that will be fine," Sang Yijia took a brief look, withdrew her gaze, and walked toward the dining room.
The director began his work. The cameraman hoisted his equipment and trained the lens on Sang Yijia.
Chen Luo hurried to follow alongside. "Sister Mo is going to watch the boy band's rehearsal today."
"When is the performance?" Sang Yijia lowered her eyes to the tablet. The October National Day holiday was more than half over; logically, all performances should have concluded by now. Why were they still rehearsing?
Chen Luo paused. "They have a concert next week. They are doing a guest performance."
Sang Yijia let out an "oh," belatedly recalling which performance it was. It was a very successful event; the boy band Mo Yani managed officially made their mark on the audience. Afterward, their endorsements and advertisements increased one after another, and by the end of the year, they even appeared on the Spring Festival Gala. They were a very talented group.
Chen Luo wasn't sure why Sang Yijia was asking about the boy band, but she made a mental note to mention it to Mo Yani later.
The morning schedule wasn't packed, but it was far from relaxing. They departed at nine, caught a ten-thirty flight, and didn't reach their destination until two-thirty in the afternoon, with filming occurring the entire time.
Those around her looked exhausted, but Sang Yijia remained energetic. She didn't rest on the plane, spending the entire flight working on her laptop. Chen Luo was very curious about what Sang Yijia was doing, but as soon as she stood up, she was glared at by Uncle Chen and Auntie Zhang, who were sitting across the aisle. Chen Luo had no choice but to sit back down and put on her eye mask to sleep.
At three-thirty in the afternoon, Sang Yijia finally arrived at the hotel. Staying next door to her was a newcomer named Xu Wei, an influencer from the Sunny Video platform. As for how she got on the show, Sang Yijia neither knew nor cared.
However, as soon as Xu Wei saw Sang Yijia, she was overly enthusiastic. "Jiajia, you're here!"
"Are you tired?"
Xu Wei was so zealous that everyone present felt puzzled.
"Hello," Sang Yijia looked at Xu Wei seriously. She had a heart-shaped face and large eyes; she looked quite harmless, but intuitively, Sang Yijia did not like her.
"May I ask who you are?" Sang Yijia withdrew her gaze and asked in a flat tone.
Xu Wei didn't mind Sang Yijia's attitude at all and explained with a smile, "I am Xu Wei from Sunny Video."
Sunny Video was one of the short-video platforms under the Jiayang Technology Company. Sang Yijia was, of course, aware of this. "I see. Hello."
"Jiajia, I’m two years older than you. Shall I call you 'little sister'?" Xu Wei was truly the type to get familiar very quickly. Especially in front of the camera, she held her head high, wishing the lens would stay on her at all times.
The director noticed her intentions and gave a perfunctory gesture for the cameraman to film her, though the primary focus remained on Sang Yijia.
Xu Wei didn't notice the camera shifting away and remained committed to building a relationship with Sang Yijia. "Little sister Jiajia, let’s have dinner together tonight, okay?"
"No, thank you," Sang Yijia refused with a shake of her head.
Xu Wei’s mouth twitched. She made an "uh" sound and, with the camera present, didn't say anything more. "You must be tired after sitting on the plane for so long, little sister Jiajia."
"If you need anything tonight, just come find me," Xu Wei gestured toward Sang Yijia's room and then her own. "We are very close."
"Thank you," Sang Yijia replied coolly, then turned to open her door and went inside.
Chen Luo’s room was not on this floor, but she was dissatisfied with Xu Wei and gave her a sharp glare before following Sang Yijia inside.
Xu Wei scoffed inwardly, paying it no mind. She was about to turn and go back to her room to rest, but as soon as her hand touched the doorknob, she was called out.
"Miss Xu, let us have a word."
Xu Wei froze as she looked at Uncle Chen and Auntie Zhang.
