“Yes,” the person outside replied. “This morning’s task is to make breakfast for your partner.”

“Miss Lan, may we come in?” The staff member knocked on the door again. Their aim was to capture the female guest without makeup; if Lan Qing were allowed to go back and put on a full face, there would be no fun in it.

“All right.” Lan Qing had barely opened the door when she saw the staff outside, and immediately breathed a sigh of relief. “Why didn’t you mention this arrangement last night?”

“It was decided during last night’s meeting,” the staff member explained. He then added, “The director assigned to this group fell ill, so I’ll be filling in for him today.”

“Okay.” Lan Qing nodded. “Give me a moment to wash up.”

“All right.” The group director was already satisfied after capturing Lan Qing in her makeup-free state. He glanced around the room as well. Everything was neat and orderly, with nothing particularly noteworthy.

—

Meanwhile, Sang Yijia had gotten up a few minutes before the production team. She had already washed up and changed clothes.

“Miss Sang, you’re up very early.” The group director knew Sang Yijia’s routine. If she had been at home, she would certainly have been in the gym by now. But there was no gym here, so she would probably go running downstairs.

As it happened, Sang Yijia had changed into sportswear.

“Yes.” Sang Yijia nodded. “What’s the task this morning?”

“Making breakfast for your partner,” the group director replied. “All the female guests will gather in the kitchen downstairs later.”

“Miss Sang, would you like to go down first?” he asked.

Sang Yijia glanced at what she was wearing. “In a moment. I’m going to change.”

If nothing unexpected happened, they would probably head straight to the beach after breakfast. Her current tank top and athletic shorts would hardly be suitable.

“All right.” The group director was exceptionally polite.

Sang Yijia looked at him curiously for another moment before turning around to change.

The group director also left the room and remained in the living room, looking around.

“So this is the room Lu Wenchuan arranged?”

“Do you smell it? There’s a faint scent of lime.”

“You’re right.”

“The sea breeze blowing into my room smells salty,” one of the staff members remarked. “I feel like I’m being made into salted fish.”

The group director smiled. “A salted fish wouldn’t be as large as you.”

Before long, Sang Yijia emerged in casual clothes. Both her top and trousers were loose-fitting, concealing her excellent figure.

Sang Yijia glanced at the time. “Let’s go.”

Guest Number One had set off. The group director sent a message to the colleagues downstairs, telling them to get ready.

Meanwhile, no matter how much the staff knocked on Yan Ningsi’s door, there was no response. Xu Wei, however, came out of the room next door and stared at the staff with a bewildered expression.

“Is it time for the task?” Xu Wei quickly came to her senses and entered the role at once, while discreetly avoiding the cameras so they would not capture her at an unflattering angle.

Yan Ningsi, on the other hand, had yet to wake up. The staff could only continue knocking from outside. In the end, they had no choice but to call her, but no one answered.

The staff were completely at a loss and had no idea what to do.

Xu Wei finished getting ready and set off, while there was still no movement whatsoever from Yan Ningsi’s room.

With no other option, the staff went to find Sang Yijia, hoping she might have some way to get Yan Ningsi out of bed.

By then, however, Sang Yijia had already reached the kitchen prepared by the production team. She had put on an apron and begun making breakfast.

When the staff found her, she had just washed some rice and put it into the rice cooker.

“Get Little Ningsi up?” Sang Yijia thought for a moment. “Wait here. I’ll give her a call.”

“We’ve already called her, but she isn’t answering,” the staff member said miserably.

Sang Yijia smiled. “That must have been the work number. I have her private number.”

With that, Sang Yijia made the call. The ringtone played once, then again, and was nearly about to disconnect automatically when Yan Ningsi finally answered.

“Yijia?” Yan Ningsi was still half-asleep, her voice soft and gentle, like a kitten that had just woken up, making anyone want to cuddle her. “What is it?”

Sang Yijia briefly explained the task arranged by the production team.

“Oh, I see. Then Bian He and I just won’t have breakfast.” Yan Ningsi was awake, but not entirely. She answered lazily through a yawn, “Going hungry for half a day won’t kill us.”

Sang Yijia: “…”

The production team: “…”

“I’m going back to sleep for a while. Bye.” Yan Ningsi hung up without the slightest hesitation.

Sang Yijia turned to the staff. After thinking for a moment, she said seriously, “Actually, you could ask Bian He to come down and make breakfast.”

“…”

The corners of the production team’s mouths twitched. “The male guests are scheduled to make breakfast tomorrow.”

“…” It was rare for Sang Yijia to fall silent. “I think Little Ningsi is better suited to making late-night snacks.”

The production team: “…”

And so, Yan Ningsi’s matter was let go. After all, she was in a hotel room, and the production team could hardly force the door open and drag her out of bed to make breakfast. After much deliberation, they decided to wake Bian He instead.

Bian He arrived and fell into deep thought as he looked at the three women beside him. Only after a long while did he ask Sang Yijia, “I thought the male guests were making breakfast today.”

“Little Ningsi refused to get up.” Sang Yijia’s rice porridge was nearly ready. She added preserved egg and lean pork, and a rich aroma immediately filled the kitchen.

Lan Qing’s hand paused. She was supposed to make breakfast for Shen Jin, but she did not particularly want to. She chose some slices of bread and planned to make a simple sandwich.

“Wow, Yijia, you’re really good at cooking.” Xu Wei did not know Shen Jing’s tastes. After thinking in the kitchen for a long time, she had finally decided to make a bowl of egg noodles. “It smells so good that I already want to eat it.”

“Thank you.” Sang Yijia stirred the preserved-egg-and-lean-pork porridge. When she judged it ready, she switched off the heat.

“Ladies who have finished making breakfast may go and wake their partners,” a staff member reminded them.

Bian He let out an exclamation and hurried after Sang Yijia. “Shall we go together?”

“Free ride?” Sang Yijia arched an eyebrow.

Bian He awkwardly scratched the back of his head. “She definitely won’t like what I make, but it’s different when you make it!”

“Mm, you’re right.” Sang Yijia nodded frankly. “But I’ve only made enough for two people.”

“Then I’m afraid I can’t help you.”

Bian He stared at her. “Wait, the two of you can eat that much?”

“Yes.” Sang Yijia was perfectly composed. “I eat a little more whenever I have preserved-egg-and-lean-pork porridge.”

Bian He: “…”

“How about a fried egg?” Xu Wei suggested from the side. “Then make another bowl of noodles and add two stalks of greens. I think that should be enough.”

“If there were some chili bean sauce to mix in, it would be even better.” Xu Wei licked her lips.

At that, Sang Yijia stopped walking. “It’s better not to eat too much spicy food in the morning.”

“All right.” Xu Wei shrugged and stuck out her tongue playfully.
