Chapter 153: Allergic Reaction
Lu Wenchuan had woken up early. His first thought was to go out and buy breakfast for Sang Yijia, but the moment he stepped outside, a staff member stationed by the door stopped him.
“What’s the problem?” Lu Wenchuan asked, his expression dark.
The staff member hurried to explain. “Mr. Lu, could you please wait in your room for a little while?”
“The female guests are making breakfast. It’ll be ready soon.”
For some reason, the moment the staff member met Lu Wenchuan’s gaze, his heart trembled, and he felt as though his life were flashing before his eyes.
“The female guests are making breakfast?” Lu Wenchuan paused. “Where?”
“I’ll go take a look.”
He would never bear to let Sang Yijia make breakfast, yet the production team had actually sent her to do it?
They certainly had some nerve.
The staff member no longer dared to stop him and could only follow behind.
Lu Wenchuan knew that Sang Yijia was in the kitchen downstairs. He hurried down, and just as the elevator arrived, he ran into Sang Yijia carrying a thermos.
“Yijia.” Lu Wenchuan’s heart trembled. “Next time, just let me do it.”
“It’s only breakfast.” Sang Yijia shook her head. “I made century egg and pork congee. Do you like it?”
Lu Wenchuan hesitated. He could not eat century eggs.
“What is it?” Sang Yijia quickly noticed that something was wrong. “You can’t eat century eggs?”
“Mm. But it’s fine. I can have a little.” Lu Wenchuan shook his head. “Since you made it, of course I have to try some.”
“No need.” Sang Yijia reached out and stopped him from taking the thermos. “Let’s give this breakfast to Bian He.”
“I’ll make another portion.”
Even the production staff had not known that Lu Wenchuan could not eat century eggs. Now they could not tell Sang Yijia either, because each guest was allowed only one opportunity.
“I’ll make it.” Lu Wenchuan did not become annoyed when he failed to get the thermos. Instead, he took Sang Yijia’s other hand. “What do you want to eat?”
“The kitchen should have everything prepared.” If it did not, Lu Wenchuan would have made sure the hotel stocked enough ingredients.
“Is there anything you can’t eat?” Sang Yijia asked, thinking that this was a good chance for them to learn more about each other. “What about seafood?”
“Are you allergic to it?” she continued. “What about mangoes?”
“Everything else is fine. Just not century eggs.” A trace of tenderness appeared in Lu Wenchuan’s eyes. “I remember that you can’t eat crab.”
“How do you know?” Sang Yijia exclaimed, curiosity flickering in her eyes. “You know what I can’t eat, but I don’t know what you can’t eat. Am I being a rather incompetent girlfriend?”
“That’s not true,” Lu Wenchuan denied.
Sang Yijia turned to look at him, her gaze sharpening slightly. “When did you find out?”

“Probably the first time you ate crab.” Lu Wenchuan sensed the accusation in her voice and immediately raised both hands in surrender. “I happened to be at the hospital that night when you sought medical attention. It was just a coincidence.”
“Really?” Sang Yijia did not believe him.
Lu Wenchuan laughed helplessly. “It really was a coincidence. I swear.”
The two of them stood close together, chatting about things that seemed completely unrelated. Yet to the staff members behind them, their conversation sounded like thunderous waves.
Had Sang Yijia and Lu Wenchuan known each other long ago? And Sang Yijia had not known?
What kind of heavenly romance was this?
The group director had already decided on their label: childhood sweethearts who had eventually fallen in love.
While the group director was thinking about the perfect label, Sang Yijia and Lu Wenchuan arrived at the kitchen.
Bian He had never cooked before. He had tried making a fried egg, and although he had used a nonstick pan, the underside of the egg had still turned completely black.
Xu Wei could not bear to look at it and hurriedly finished making his breakfast before carrying it away.
Lan Qing had made only a few sandwiches, then taken two bottles of milk from the refrigerator. She had left the kitchen long ago.
The production team had expected Lan Qing to be perfunctory with breakfast. They simply had not expected her to be quite that perfunctory.
When Sang Yijia and Lu Wenchuan returned, Bian He seemed to see his saviors.
“You’re here!”
“That’s wonderful.”
Bian He had really wanted to make a breakfast that Yan Ningsi would enjoy, but he had never cooked in his life and was genuinely incapable of doing so.
“I absolutely have no idea how to cook.” Bian He looked as though he might cry.
Sang Yijia examined the finished dishes and fell into a brief state of confusion.
“You can have the congee.” Lu Wenchuan pointed at the thermos in Sang Yijia’s hand. “I’ll take care of things here.”
“What?” A pie had fallen from the sky, and Bian He had yet to recover. “Why?”
“Wenchuan can’t eat century eggs.” Sang Yijia shrugged. “I didn’t know either.”
“Fortunately, I asked.” Otherwise, given Lu Wenchuan’s personality, he might have finished the entire bowl even if he knew he was allergic.
At the thought, Sang Yijia glared at him.
“…” Lu Wenchuan sighed helplessly. “I’ll make two bowls of noodles.”
“How about adding eggs, ham, and vegetables?” The refrigerator offered very few ingredients. There was not enough time to cook another pot of congee from scratch, and Lu Wenchuan did not want to make a breakfast that took too long.
“I’ll make you something better tomorrow.” After learning that the guests would be responsible for making breakfast, Lu Wenchuan had already decided to get up early every day to cook for Sang Yijia.
“Then I want sweet yam-and-red-date congee tomorrow,” Sang Yijia ordered.

Lu Wenchuan agreed.
Bian He returned with the thermos in his arms, moved beyond words. He even called Yan Ningsi, but she hung up. He called again.
Then Yan Ningsi blocked him.
Bian He: “…”
What a heartless woman!
“Can I eat all of this by myself?” Bian He hugged the thermos and looked toward the camera, though he was actually speaking to the staff. “She won’t die from going hungry for half a day.”
“She might even learn her lesson.”
The production team: “…”
As long as you’re happy.
—
Lu Wenchuan was not wearing an apron. Like Sang Yijia, he was dressed casually. At first glance, they looked like students who had just started university—young, vibrant, and full of energy.
Sang Yijia watched him from the side. The sight of him working with such seriousness and concentration held an inexplicable allure. The longer she looked, the more handsome he seemed. It was as though no one in the world could be more perfect than him.
The egg hit the pan with a sizzling sound, and its fragrance slowly spread through the kitchen.
“I’ll help.” Sang Yijia casually picked up an apron and put it on. Then she took the pot for boiling noodles, rinsed it with water, filled it with fresh water, and placed it on the burner beside Lu Wenchuan.
The scene looked just like that of a married couple who had lived together for years.
The staff behind them did not dare make a sound, afraid that they might shatter this brief moment of beauty.
“Should I fry the sausages?” Lu Wenchuan asked.
Sang Yijia had already torn open the package and used a small knife to cut the sausages in half. “Mm.”
“They’ll taste better that way.”
After Lu Wenchuan fried the sausages, the water on Sang Yijia’s side came to a boil. She added the noodles, and steam billowed upward.
A faint fragrance drifted through the kitchen, but the aroma of the fried egg and sausages was especially distinct and rich. It smelled like home.
Let me ask for a wave of votes first~~~ There will be an extra chapter on the sixth of next month~~ My editor has applied for a flash-sale promotion~~~ (*^▽^*)
And now, let me recommend the new novel by my dear friend Ruoli, “The Wicked Stepmother Becomes Famous Nationwide After Appearing on a Parenting Variety Show.” I just realized that I wrote the title incorrectly in the previous chapter—this is the correct one!!!
Ruoli’s older novel, “After the Dating Show, My Former Top-Star Boyfriend Begs Me Every Day to Get Back Together,” has already been completed. It’s a sweet little treat, so everyone should go take a look~~~
