Chapter 171: Is There Still Anyone Who Remembers?
“Is this what you call being careless?” Bian He smiled coldly. “I think you did it on purpose.”
“No, really, I didn’t.” Shen Jing shook his head repeatedly in denial, then glanced at Lu Wenchuan, who had already prepared breakfast. He hesitated for a moment. “I just wanted to learn how to make breakfast from Brother Lu.”
But who would have guessed that Lu Wenchuan could crack an egg open with one hand and place it perfectly into the pan?
Shen Jing thought it looked cool and wanted to try. He managed to open the egg with one hand, but ended up with a mess all over his hand.
Bian He didn’t want to say anything more. “The last two eggs are mine. Don’t even think about it.”
“…Alright.” Shen Jing knew he was in the wrong and had no reason to ask for eggs anymore, but still…
“What am I supposed to eat this morning?”
“Figure it out yourself.” Bian He took the last egg without mercy. He had no intention of making a soft-boiled egg; as long as the egg was cooked and edible, he was satisfied.
“You two carry on, I’m heading back first.” Lu Wenchuan waited until both of them finished speaking before he said that.
“So soon?” Bian He was surprised, then remembered that Lu Wenchuan never made any mistakes when cooking breakfast. Feeling a bit frustrated, he sneakily glanced at the breakfast Lu Wenchuan had prepared, but unfortunately, he couldn’t see anything.
Lu Wenchuan had packed the breakfast to go.
“Yeah.” Lu Wenchuan nodded. “It’s best to eat it while it’s hot.”
“Alright.” Bian He reluctantly watched Lu Wenchuan leave, then looked at Shen Jing. Shen Jing’s breakfast was simple—two slices of toast without fried eggs, bacon, or ham, just sprinkled with shredded pork and seaweed, then cut in half to make a sandwich.
“Just this simple?” Bian He pinched his chin. “Weren’t you and Lan Qing pretty close before?”
“What happened this time?” Rumors in the industry were just rumors—half true, half false—it was hard to say. Bian He looked at Shen Jing. “Still not made up after the fight?”
“No.” Shen Jing denied immediately. “Qingqing is still dieting. This kind of breakfast is the best for her.”
“If it were usual days, I wouldn’t put seaweed or shredded pork on it, and it would be whole wheat black bread.” Shen Jing shrugged helplessly. “If I made it too well, that would show I didn’t care enough about her.”
Shen Jing patted Bian He’s shoulder. “I’m heading out.”
“Good luck to you both.” Shen Jing didn’t look at Shen Jing—despite the similarity in their names, their family backgrounds were worlds apart.
Shen Jing didn’t have any goodwill toward him.
However, Shen Jing was glad that unlike Lan Qing, who had ulterior motives to use the young master’s name to grab roles, Shen Jing had no such intentions.
As Shen Jing carried the breakfast out, he bumped into Lu Wenchuan at the elevator entrance.
“What a coincidence.” Shen Jing greeted him.
Lu Wenchuan recalled what Sang Yijia had said last night about the reset—everything related to Sang Yijia would be erased.
In other words, Shen Jing no longer had memories of Sang Yijia pursuing him.
But Lu Wenchuan did. Whenever he looked at him, he couldn’t help but recall that period. His eyes darkened slightly as he nodded in greeting.
Shen Jing was clueless about what was going on. Greeting Lu Wenchuan first felt strange, but not greeting him also felt odd.
“What breakfast did you make for Sang Yijia?” Shen Jing scratched the back of his head, feeling like he had forgotten something.
“Nothing special.” Lu Wenchuan replied calmly. “Just an ordinary breakfast.”
Ding dong—the elevator arrived.
Yan Ningsi came out and immediately saw Shen Jing and Lu Wenchuan walking together. She was surprised they had something to talk about.
“Good morning.” Yan Ningsi greeted.
“Where’s Bian He?” Yan Ningsi looked down the corridor. “The kitchen is this way, right?”
“Yeah, straight ahead and then turn left.” Lu Wenchuan told her.
Yan Ningsi waved her hand. “Thanks, Brother Lu.”
Shen Jing glanced back at Yan Ningsi, frowning slightly.
“Feels like I forgot something.” Shen Jing muttered.
Lu Wenchuan heard this, lowered his gaze without a word, pondering whether anything else would happen after this reset and whether Sang Yijia would disappear as before.
Though Sang Yijia said she wouldn’t, Lu Wenchuan felt something was overlooked. His heart felt empty, an uneasy feeling creeping in.
—
By seven in the morning, the restaurant was already quite crowded.
Sang Yijia had just sat down when she saw Lan Qing. Lan Qing came over and sat opposite her. The staff behind her left.
Apparently, this scene wouldn’t be edited into the broadcast. Sang Yijia recalled the voices she heard last night and figured Lan Qing must have found out something.
“Sang Yijia,” Lan Qing stared at her intently. “I know you’re back.”
“Yeah, and?” Sang Yijia’s eyes were calm as she looked at her. “Your system is gone.”
“Do you even care?” Lan Qing had remembered everything last night. Her eyes burned with fury as she stared at Sang Yijia. “You’re so well off in the Sang family, why do you have to come into the entertainment industry and compete with me?”
Lan Qing suppressed her anger; she only had two minutes.
“You have wealth, power, and a loving family—why fight with me?” Lan Qing lowered her voice, but her ferocity was unmistakable.
“And what about you?” Sang Yijia took a deep breath. “You stole the destiny that was mine and nearly killed my family.”
“Do you think that’s fair?”
Lan Qing was momentarily stunned but quickly recovered. “I didn’t.”
“It’s all your own doing. If you hadn’t tried to frame me, I wouldn’t have let you in.” Lan Qing clenched her fists tightly.
“Besides, everything has changed this time.” Last life, Shen Jing was indeed part of the Sang family—though not the main branch, he still held some power.
But now, Shen Jing was just an ordinary person!
Lan Qing was on the verge of madness. “Sang Yijia, what exactly did you do?”
“I did nothing.” Sang Yijia met her gaze calmly. “I just came back.”
The production staff returned, and after a deep breath, Lan Qing forced a smile. “Yijia, I won’t let this go so easily.”
“What’s mine, I’ll definitely take back.”
“Well, you better think carefully about what truly belongs to you.” Sang Yijia wasn’t afraid of the madness in Lan Qing’s eyes; she found it laughable.
To think someone could believe a life stolen was truly theirs.
Sang Yijia exhaled, hearing familiar footsteps. Looking up, she saw Lu Wenchuan approaching and stood up.
“This table is dirty. Let’s move.” Sang Yijia didn’t want Lu Wenchuan to sit where Lan Qing had been—it was too filthy.

Cough, cough. This later part definitely differs from the original plan. I can only say I wrote my best, but the outcome remains uncertain.
Truly, I’m very grateful to all readers who have stayed this far. It is because of you that I’ve persisted until now. Thank you so much.
