Chapter 172: You Think?
Lu Wenchuan did not refuse. After sitting down at another table with Sang Yijia and setting down the breakfast, he asked what had happened.
"Nothing, someone just sneezed when they walked past," Sang Yijia casually made up an excuse. "Then I saw that person's saliva land on the chair."
Lu Wenchuan's hand paused, and he suddenly felt that the chair he was sitting on might not be very clean either.
"It's fine, I already asked the waiter to replace it," Sang Yijia explained, and then caught a rich aroma. "It smells so good."
"Did you make all of this?" Sang Yijia looked at the breakfast in front of her in pleasant surprise. The fried eggs were golden on both sides, with a bright, glossy, and moist texture.
After setting down the fried eggs, Lu Wenchuan successively brought out a few small pastries.
"Who else do you think made it?" Lu Wenchuan placed a plate of steamed yellow-lump cake in front of her. "The kitchen made this this morning."
"I had someone bring it over."
Sang Yijia let out an acknowledgement, turned her head to look at the camera, and asked with a smile, "Does this count as cheating?"
"No, I checked with Director Chen," Lu Wenchuan explained with a helpless expression. "There were frozen ones in the refrigerator, and I swapped with the hotel chef."
Sang Yijia gave a thumbs-up. "Impressive."
Trading frozen food for fresh ones was not something just anyone could pull off.
"I've learned the trick, I'll try it tomorrow too." Sang Yijia picked up a piece of the yellow-lump cake; it was sweet, delicious, light, soft, and glutinous.
"Delicious."
"What about the fried egg?" Lu Wenchuan asked. "You should eat this while it's hot, otherwise it won't taste as good once it cools down."
"The fried egg is the best," Sang Yijia praised with a thumbs-up. "It's the best fried egg I've ever eaten."
Lu Wenchuan was deeply satisfied.
—
The dating reality show had been going on for a day, and there had already been competitions.
Today was meant for the couples to spend time alone—in other words, a date.
Looking up at the sun, Sang Yijia didn't want to go anywhere and just wanted to stay inside the hotel. "It's too sunny outside."
"Then we won't go out. There is plenty of entertainment inside the hotel anyway," Lu Wenchuan had no objections.
"Do you want to play snooker?" Lu Wenchuan had a task to complete, but he couldn't tell Sang Yijia; he had to keep it mysterious.
"Snooker?" Sang Yijia uttered an acknowledgement. "I don't know how to play."
"I'll teach you," Lu Wenchuan decided on the itinerary. "It's very simple."
The hotel had a billiard room, featuring both a main hall and private rooms.
The production crew needed to film, and Lu Wenchuan didn't want others watching Sang Yijia play, so he booked a large private room.
It was completely fine for all the staff members to stand nearby.
After receiving the cue, Sang Yijia looked at it and said, "My eldest brother might be used to this."
"However, his golf is very good." If Sang Yijia remembered correctly, back when the Sang family first moved to the city, because they were outsiders and knew nothing, Sang Zheng had been mocked for a long time.
After that, Sang Zheng, who had a particularly strong self-esteem, stopped opening companies or doing business. Instead, just like before, he bought plots of land—not for real estate development, but purely because he liked building houses to rent out.
By messing around in this nonsensical way, Sang Zheng ended up owning several plots of land in the city, even in many prime locations.
Sang Qiwu's martial arts school was built on their own land right in the center of the commercial district. It was very unique, and the upper floors were commercial-residential apartments.
None of them were sold, only rented out.
The rent alone reached over a million a month.
Not to mention several vegetable markets he also owned.
Lu Wenchuan was a bit surprised. Everyone in their circle played decent golf. "Did you study it?"
"No," Sang Yijia shook her head, then continued, "My brother said as long as you've completed nine years of compulsory education, you can sink a ball in one stroke."
Lu Wenchuan fell silent for a moment, feeling like he now understood how Sang Qiwen played golf. "What about bowling?"
"Are you interested?" Lu Wenchuan changed the subject, but then thought of something and added, "Golf is suitable for playing when discussing business."
"Going at any other time is just boring." Compared to these sports that seemed a bit more elegant, Lu Wenchuan still preferred simpler ones, such as tennis and basketball.
"I'm not interested in any of these." Seeing the caddie set up the balls, Sang Yijia bent down to take aim, but did not strike the ball.
"I prefer reading manga at home, and watching anime." Worried that Lu Wenchuan wouldn't know what anime was, Sang Yijia explained, "Cartoons, as you guys call them."
"I know what it is," Lu Wenchuan said, somewhat speechless. "I'm only a few years older than you."
"I haven't reached the age where I can't tell the difference between cartoons and animation." Lu Wenchuan beckoned her to come over. "Your posture when bending down should be like this."
"Look at me." Lu Wenchuan turned to look at Sang Yijia, and seeing her standing aside with her arms crossed, his brows furrowed slightly. "You don't like it?"
"I thought you were going to teach me hand-in-hand," Sang Yijia shrugged. "I guessed wrong."
Lu Wenchuan chuckled, stood up, and pulled her into his arms. "Like this?"
"Is the task done?" Sang Yijia suddenly asked. "Is one of your tasks physical intimacy?"
Yet such contact apparently didn't include holding hands.
Sang Yijia guessed it was probably because they were afraid the audience would find it boring that they came up with this.
"Mm." Lu Wenchuan smiled. "Nothing really escapes you, does it?"
"And you?"
The two of them stood very close, speaking in low voices. To the camera, only their lips were seen moving, but what they said was unclear.
"Not finished yet." Sang Yijia was considering it. The task she drew was a special one; completing it would yield extra points, while failing it wouldn't cause any problems.
After all, judging by the production crew's progress, things were moving a bit too fast.
"What is it?" Lu Wenchuan thought for a moment, unable to guess.
Sang Yijia didn't plan to tell him. "Let's play a game first."
"Alright."
—
Director Chen could see that there were serious problems with the pair Lan Qing and Shen Jin, but since so much of the show had already been filmed, there was no way they could stop now.
"You two, taking advantage of the time we have now, shall we have a chat?" Director Chen had a headache. Although Lan Qing was no longer some young miss of the Lan family, he had received a call from Huang Hong stating that Lan Qing was his person.
She had to be well taken care of on the show.
Director Chen thought that, come to think of it, neither of these two was someone he could afford to offend.
Being a director nowadays was truly spineless. How majestic were directors back in the day? They could make actors do whatever they wanted.
Now, it was the actors who told the directors what to do.
"Director Chen, what is there for us to talk about now?" Things having reached this point, if Lan Qing wanted to make a comeback, she had to establish a foothold in the industry while also currying favor with Huang Hong.
At the thought of such an ending, Lan Qing wished she could find someone to run Sang Yijia over with a car. That way, she might still have a chance to get the supporting character system back by her side.
Shen Jin gave a dry laugh. "Talk about what?"
"Naturally, about our current situation."
"Lan Qing, you surely don't think viewers will actually like the show we've recorded so far?" Shen Jin raised his eyebrows coldly.
