Chapter 97: The Eldest Miss of the Lan Family
Sang Yijia’s head ached as well. She pressed and rubbed her temples, and Lu Wenchuan approached. “Are you feeling unwell?”
“No, just a bit of a headache.” Sang Yijia gently shook her head. When she looked up at Lu Wenchuan, her vision doubled. She blinked, gazing at him in confusion. “Lu Wenchuan, why are there two of you?”
“Yijia?” Lu Wenchuan saw her collapse and immediately caught her, lifting her in his arms and striding quickly toward the medical team.
Yan Ningsi and Bian He watched, their hearts skipping a beat.
“What’s going on? Now two have fainted—could it be food poisoning?” Yan Ningsi hurriedly checked her own stomach, but felt nothing amiss and sighed in relief.
Bian He furrowed his brow. “Looks like the show might have to stop.”
“That’s for the best.” Yan Ningsi snorted. She had no desire to see Shen Jin again.
The medical team was still examining Lan Qing, but Lu Wenchuan interrupted, carrying Sang Yijia. “Come over here.”
“See what’s wrong with Yijia.” Without even glancing at Shen Jin, Lu Wenchuan directed the team leader to bring people over.
“Where’s the nearest hospital at the foot of the mountain?” He gently placed Sang Yijia on a bench, letting her head rest on his thigh. “Send someone to get a car—we’ll go straight to the hospital.”
“Yes, sir.” The team leader, aware of Lu Wenchuan’s identity and noting his urgency over this woman, immediately realized that she was no ordinary person. He promptly led his team to examine Sang Yijia.
Shen Jin, seeing most of the medical staff rush over, leaving only a couple who seemed less reliable, grew displeased. “Doesn’t Sang Yijia have a family doctor?”
“Call them over. Why take Lan Qing’s medical staff?” Shen Jin only knew Lu Wenchuan was a programmer for Shengchuang Technology, but nothing more. To him, a programmer was just an employee—not someone particularly impressive.
Lan Qing was the heiress of the Lan family. If she suffered even a scratch, her family would never forgive Lu Wenchuan.
Seeing his chance, Shen Jin swiftly ordered the medical staff to return to Lan Qing’s side.
“Ignore him,” Lu Wenchuan said coldly. “Yijia’s family doctors are Zhang Mingyang and Zhuang Fei.”
“Go find the hotel staff to practice.”
“No need—we’re here,” Zhang Mingyang arrived with his medical kit. “We’ve stayed nearby.”
Zhuang Fei, a nurse, brought medical supplies as well and joined the team in examining Sang Yijia.
At that moment, not a single person paid attention to Shen Jin and Lan Qing.
Shen Jin’s fists clenched in frustration. “Is this how your hotel treats patients?”
The medical team member who’d been examining Lan Qing couldn’t stand it anymore. “Sir, we are professionals.”
“Besides, two of us are more than enough.” After checking Lan Qing, the team member said, “This young lady simply fainted from low blood sugar. There’s nothing wrong.”
“Wake up,” another staffer said, less politely. “We’ve already checked—you’re awake.”
“Lying here any longer is pointless.”
Lan Qing couldn’t help but clench her palm, but as soon as she moved, the nurse caught her hand, letting Shen Jin see clearly. “I’m not lying—she’s awake.”
Lan Qing had no choice but to open her eyes, tears shimmering in her gaze. “Sorry for causing trouble.”
“Your body is yours. It has nothing to do with us; you can treat it however you wish,” the female nurse retorted without a hint of courtesy.
“What kind of attitude is this? I’ll complain about you!” Shen Jin, unaware Lan Qing had woken, realized the situation was not in their favor.
“Go ahead and complain—it won’t affect my job.” The nurse was fearless. “At worst, I’ll quit and inherit my family’s wealth.”
Shen Jin was speechless.
The audience in the livestream had long since lost their patience, peppering the screen with scathing comments.
The camera zoomed in on the nurse, who wore a mask.
She took it off, her dark eyes meeting the lens. “The production crew sure knows how to stir things up.”
Her colleague tried to pull her back, not wanting the situation to escalate.
But the nurse was unyielding. “What’s there to be afraid of? I’m not wrong.”
“I just checked her—her pupils are fine, she responds to light. Isn’t she just pretending to be unconscious?”
“And I’m not supposed to say it?”
She turned her gaze to Lan Qing, giving her a sidelong glance. “You’re all from the Lan family. I’ve never liked your pretentious ways since childhood.”
Lan Qing finally recognized her, and was immediately frightened.
“Qingqing, what are you afraid of? You’re the Lan family heiress. She’s from the Lan family too—there’s nothing to fear!” Shen Jin, still plotting how to deal with the meddlesome nurse, hadn’t expected her to be a Lan family member.
That only made things simpler.
But Lan Qing shook her head repeatedly. She was from the Lan family, but not entirely.
“Oh? The Lan family heiress?” Lan Qingshu laughed outright. “I’ve never heard of a servant’s daughter sharing the family name and being called the heiress.”
“What?” Shen Jin was bewildered. “What servant’s daughter?”
“She, Lan Qing,” Lan Qingshu pointed at her. “And she’s just one letter away from my own name.”
“Why? Have you been using my name to deceive people in the entertainment industry these past years?” Lan Qingshu’s gaze turned cold. “The Lan family has only one daughter.”
“You want to be a Lan family member?”
Lan Qing shook her head in terror. “No, no, it’s not true.”
“Qingshu, let me explain. I never claimed to be the Lan family heiress, truly.” At that moment, Lan Qing had no thought for Shen Jin.
She feared Lan Qingshu might retaliate, and could only try to clarify. “All the information on the web is true.”
“Miss Lan, you can check it for yourself.” Her initial public profile was accurate, but after reporters snapped photos of her at the Lan family villa a few times, they assumed she was the heiress.
Lan Qing had her own motives. She never clarified the rumors, letting people guess and speculate. After all, she had said nothing herself.
And once the outside world believed she was the Lan family heiress, contracts and resources poured in.
Of course, Lan Qing didn’t refuse.
As for dealings between companies, Lan Qing never promised to help. Whether things worked out or not had nothing to do with her.
Even if they failed, could anyone blame her?
Certainly not!
Moreover, Lan Qing knew full well that the Lan family had no interest in the entertainment industry and would never discover the truth.
So, having tasted success, Lan Qing only grew bolder, constantly hinting to outsiders that she was the one and only Lan family heiress.
