Chapter Ninety-Eight: Sang Yijia Was Also Unconscious
Blue Clear could hardly have failed to understand such a petty trick. She curved her lips in a cold smile. “Of course I didn’t spread anything outside. I merely let people imagine.”
“As for what they imagine, that is their own concern.”
When Blue Clear Shu was in high school, she had refused the aristocratic school her family wanted her to attend and instead gone to an ordinary one, though even that was among the city’s top schools. By coincidence, Blue Clear was studying there too.
They were in different classes, and because they shared the same surname, Blue Clear Shu’s parents, out of sympathy for Blue Clear’s mother, arranged for Blue Clear to ride to and from school with her. In time, their classmates all came to think Blue Clear was her own sister.
But Blue Clear Shu had publicly said at school that she had no sister.
So the rumor changed: Blue Clear became her relative, some cousin, some younger maternal or paternal kinswoman...
Those were tolerable enough. What was even worse was that some people claimed Blue Clear was an illegitimate daughter of the Blue family.
During high school, the matter had blown up, and Blue Clear had worried that the Blue family might overthink it, so she explained herself at school. But hardly anyone believed her.
After Blue Clear Shu learned she had already explained, and did not wish to make things too difficult for her, she let it go. After that, the rumors at school did indeed diminish, and Blue Clear Shu never pursued the matter further.
She had not expected that a few years later, Blue Clear would try the same trick again. “What, you still haven’t learned your lesson?”
Blue Clear shook her head repeatedly, not even daring to call her by name. “Miss Blue, I really didn’t.”
“I really did pass out from a headache just now,” Blue Clear explained, lifting her eyes weakly toward Shane, hoping he would speak for her.
But to her utter surprise, Shane looked shocked, disbelief written all over his face. “Shane?”
“I’m fine.” Shane forced himself to steady his nerves after a long inward struggle. He did not point at Blue Clear’s face and demand every detail then and there, but in his heart he had already come to despise her to the extreme. She had actually used the identity of a Blue family young lady to deceive him.
“Clear, are you all right? Does your head still hurt?” If not for the livestream, Shane would already have stood up and left, not caring one bit about Blue Clear.
Still, with the true eldest daughter of the Blue family here now, Shane knew he had to seize the chance to perform well. “Miss Blue, I was too anxious just now. My attitude and my words were wrong. I apologize to you.”
“I hope you can forgive me.”
Blue Clear Shu had long seen through Shane’s character. She curved her lips, picked up the tools she needed for work, and rose to her feet, looking down at him with aloof superiority. “Why apologize?”
“You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Shane was delighted at this and was just about to say something when Blue Clear Shu continued, “The one at fault is only me.”
“If I weren’t a member of the Blue family, would you have apologized?”
“No. So what is there to say?” Blue Clear Shu had gathered all the medical instruments. She turned to her colleague. “Let’s go. Sandy’s condition doesn’t look very promising.”
One only had to look at Lawrence’s tense expression to know that.
The Blue family and the Russell family were acquainted as well. Not long ago, when Blue Clear Shu returned home, she had even overheard her mother speaking with the Russell patriarch about arranging a blind date between her and Lawrence.
How had she refused at the time?
Blue Clear Shu frowned, trying to recall. It seemed she had said she was too busy with work, did not want a partner who was also a workaholic, and preferably wanted a rather handsome young man instead, with a good figure, capable and family-oriented, simple and obedient, one who did not need to have his own career or dreams, only a leisurely and stable job so that he could better stay home and take care of the family and children. That way, she could feel at ease earning money outside and developing her own career.
At the time, the Blue family thought it sounded like pure fantasy, but they quickly accepted Blue Clear Shu’s suggestion, because all of it was for her own good and had no drawbacks.
At that moment, looking at the anxious and unsettled Lawrence, Blue Clear Shu touched the bridge of her nose. “I really didn’t expect someone like that to have this side to him.”
Her colleague heard this and said, “Isn’t that something people say online?”
“There are indeed people who are not naturally warm. They simply do not warm themselves.”
Blue Clear Shu thought that made sense.
——
The cause of Sandy’s coma had not yet been found. Charlie Zhang found it strange, his brows tightly knotted together. “Miss Sandy hasn’t eaten anything inappropriate recently, and the tests showed nothing abnormal.”
“All of her bodily indicators are normal,” said Victor Zhu after a quick check.
The bracelet on Sandy’s wrist was a research project Byron Sandy had developed abroad, combined with the most popular technology at present, and it was more advanced than the medical bracelets in use today.
However, the cost of such a bracelet was high and unsuitable for mass production.
So only members of the Sandy family and a few of Byron Sandy’s close friends had one.
Charlie Zhang checked Sandy’s data every day, and by rights there should have been no problem.
“What we can do now is take her to a major hospital for a full examination.”
“Then go.” Lawrence made the decision at once. “Has the car arrived?”
“It has. It’s at the hotel entrance, and she can be transferred out directly in a moment.”
“What about the ambulance?” Lawrence confirmed every detail.
Blue Clear Shu came over just in time to hear that line. “The hospital is a bit far, and with the holiday crowd, it normally takes ten minutes, but now it should be fifteen to twenty.”
“Only five minutes have passed so far.” Blue Clear Shu glanced at the time. “We’ll need to wait about ten more minutes.”
“The car has arrived. We can go down directly.” The ambulance and their equipment were more or less the same, Charlie Zhang said.
Lawrence had no objections. At a time like this, he would follow the doctor’s arrangements.
Charlie Zhang looked around and then turned to Victor Zhu. “Inform the boss, and then inform the Sandy family.”
“Yes!”
——
At the same time, Sandy’s mother and Byron Sandy were already so anxious in the car that they wished it could sprout wings and fly straight to the scene. But no matter how fast they drove, they still would not arrive until the afternoon.
“Right now we still don’t know what’s wrong with Little Sister,” Byron Sandy said, watching the livestream anxiously. “Mom, let’s call Third Brother.”
“Yes, call him.” Sandy’s mother’s hands were trembling so badly that she could not even tap Byron Sandy’s number on the screen.
“What do we do?” Sandy’s mother’s voice broke with tears. “Nothing will happen to Cici, will it?”
It was precisely because nothing could be found that it was so worrying.
If she had only fainted from low blood sugar like that Blue Clear or whatever her name was, how wonderful that would have been!
“Mom, let me.” Byron Sandy was also anxious and worried, but he handled it better than his mother and quickly placed the call.
“Third Brother, have you been watching the livestream?” After the call connected, Byron Sandy recounted Sandy’s condition in full, then asked, “What is the situation now?”
“Will Little Sister really be all right?”
Byron Sandy was hearing it all in a muddle, but he soon heard Charlie Zhang’s name. That was his senior brother from university in the country, and he was quite capable. However, after offending people at a public hospital, no one in the city dared hire him, so he had come to the Sandy family to work as a family doctor.
Still, when he had time, Charlie Zhang would volunteer in the community.
He also performed sterilization surgery for stray cats and dogs in the neighborhood.
Byron Sandy’s thoughts drifted off. He pressed his temples. “With Senior Brother Charlie there, it shouldn’t be a big problem.”
One person’s disguise has already fallen. There is still one more left. Take a guess—when will Shane be exposed?
