Seeing that Xie Qingtang had refused as usual, Dong Weiyi smiled and shook his head, then said with a hint of helplessness, “It seems Miss Xie still doesn’t fully trust me. Every time I offer to help you, you refuse.”

“That isn’t fair, Mr. Dong. If you offered to pay for me, of course I would refuse. How could I accept something from someone else for nothing? Besides, if we really find that Heaven-and-Earth Herb, then not competing with me for it would already count as helping me.” Xie Qingtang smiled, smoothly putting the matter to rest.

Dong Weiyi nodded. Just then, Sima Wei arrived at Good Deeds Hall for a follow-up examination. After more than a month of treatment, her hair had almost completely recovered, with many fine strands growing back. It looked somewhat unruly, but her mood was excellent.

“Oh? Weiyi, I never expected to see you here.” Sima Wei was slightly surprised to find Dong Weiyi there, but after a moment’s thought, she understood.

Seeing how familiar the two of them seemed, Xie Qingtang froze for a moment before saying to Dong Weiyi in surprise, “So the two of you know each other?”

“Not only do we know each other, we grew up together as childhood sweethearts. Actually, I had not planned to come to Good Deeds Hall for treatment at first. Weiyi told me that you were a highly skilled practitioner of traditional medicine and might be able to cure my hair loss, so I came here half believing and half doubting. I never expected such a pleasant surprise—my hair problem really was cured by you, Miss Xie.”

Sima Wei explained, and Xie Qingtang nodded. She had never expected that although she prided herself on refusing Dong Weiyi’s help, he had still been silently assisting her in many ways.

“I truly never imagined Weiyi would one day do a good deed without taking credit for it. It seems Miss Xie didn’t know that Weiyi was the reason I finally decided to come to Good Deeds Hall for treatment.” Sima Wei covered her mouth and laughed.

Dong Weiyi glanced at her and shook his head faintly, signaling her to stop. Xie Qingtang said nothing more. She led Sima Wei into the examination room, checked her over, and nodded.

“After more than a month of treatment, your health has improved considerably. From now on, all you need to do is maintain a regular schedule and make a few changes to your diet.”

“That may be true, Miss Xie, but you know I’m an actress. Keeping regular hours is far too difficult for me. I can make some changes to my diet, but in order to control my weight, I can’t alter it too drastically.” Sima Wei sighed.

Xie Qingtang had already told Sima Wei that her excessive dieting had caused malnutrition, which was one of the main reasons for her hair loss.

But as an actress, Sima Wei could only eat less and less in order to maintain her figure. Even changing her diet was not so simple, and gaining weight was even more frightening to her.

Xie Qingtang understood her concerns. After hesitating for a moment, she picked up a calligraphy brush, wrote out a diet plan, and handed it to her.

“The foods listed here will replenish your body’s nutrients without making you gain weight. You can eat more of them.”

“What? That’s wonderful! Doctor Xie, not only are you a brilliant physician, you know about nutrition too. I’ll definitely recommend more of my girlfriends to come see you.” Sima Wei accepted the diet plan with unconcealed delight, her face filled with gratitude.

Dong Weiyi gazed at Xie Qingtang with gentle warmth in his eyes. When Sima Wei stood up, she happened to see that look, and a trace of sadness flickered through her own eyes.

A moment later, Sima Wei composed herself. She took an invitation card from her purse and pushed it toward Xie Qingtang.

“Miss Xie, my birthday is coming up soon. I’d like to invite you to my birthday party.”

“A birthday party? I’ve never been fond of such occasions. I’m afraid I’ll have to thank you for the invitation, Miss Sima.” Xie Qingtang instinctively wanted to refuse. She truly disliked attending gatherings like that.

Sima Wei covered her mouth and laughed, then said again, “You must come, Miss Xie. You have no idea—ever since my girlfriends learned that you cured my hair loss, they’ve all been eager to meet you. If you don’t have anything suitable to wear to the party, I can send over a few outfits tomorrow and let you choose one.”

“Besides, this would be very beneficial to Good Deeds Hall. My girlfriends are more than willing to spend money on their faces and hair.”

With the matter put so plainly, it would have been awkward for Xie Qingtang to refuse again. She could only nod and agree. Sima Wei smiled in satisfaction, then turned to Dong Weiyi and raised her chin slightly.

“Weiyi, it’s my birthday. Have you prepared my birthday present? You can’t fob me off again this year.”

“Don’t worry. I prepared your birthday present long ago. I’ll certainly give you a surprise on your birthday.” Dong Weiyi nodded, an elegant and refined smile on his face.

Only then did Sima Wei let him off. Soon afterward, her manager, Sister Li, began urging them from the entrance of Good Deeds Hall. They had squeezed in this follow-up appointment between filming sessions and still needed to hurry back to the set.

“All right, I still have an engagement to get to, so I’ll be leaving first.” She put on her sunglasses and walked away.

Watching her retreating figure, Dong Weiyi said with some emotion, “I always feel that once people grow up, certain things change as well.”

Xie Qingtang smiled softly at this rare display of sentiment from him. “Sometimes it isn’t that things have changed, but that people have changed. Don’t you think?”

After she spoke, Dong Weiyi fell silent for a moment. He turned and looked at her with deep, unreadable eyes before agreeing, “Miss Xie is right.”

Afterward, he collected the medicine packet for his daughter, Dong Shien, and also left Good Deeds Hall. Having received two major clients that day, Xie Qingtang looked at the balance in her bank account on her phone, and a smile curved her lips. She lifted her head toward the azure sky. The weather was truly beautiful.

“Boss, I have a suggestion.”

Just as Xie Qingtang was leisurely looking for a quiet spot from which to admire the clear sky, Zhou Jinfan’s voice suddenly sounded behind her.

She turned to look at him. “What ridiculous idea do you have this time?”

“Boss, how about starting a live stream?” Zhou Jinfan said excitedly.
