Chapter 130: The Heavenly War King and the Secret Fruit! (Please Recommend and Bookmark!)
As the crowd reached the sky above the passage, they descended in perfect unison. Kunsha frowned as he watched from the side. Something felt odd. The movements of these people were stiff, unnatural. Moreover, Kunsha sensed that these hundreds of individuals seemed to be facing the same person. Each one was cloaked in a pitch-black robe, their faces hidden from view.
Though Kunsha's curiosity stirred, he noticed several emanations among the crowd that rivaled his own power. For a moment, he refrained from making any rash moves.
At that moment, the monkey turned around and addressed the hundreds: "You are stationed here. This spatial passage only permits cultivators below the fifth rank to enter or exit. Any cultivator above the fifth rank attempting to pass shall be killed without mercy!"
With those words, the monkey tore through the void with one hand and stepped forward.
The hundreds of black-robed figures stood orderly before the passage. Kunsha was stunned. By now, everyone knew this was the power of the forbidden zone within the Kunlun secret realm.
Among these hundreds of cultivators, the weakest was at least eighth rank, and the strongest could probably match him in battle. Not just one or two were such formidable figures.
Kunsha stared at the crowd, feeling as if they all stood before a single presence. His heart trembled.
...
At the foot of the Endless Cliff, Yang Fan had yet to awaken.
Kunlun looked at Yang Fan lying on the shore, estimating it would still be some time before he regained consciousness.
He had initially hoped to take advantage of Yang Fan’s unconscious state to examine his body, to understand how his dantian and qi sea could contain such vast energy.
But due to the interference of lightning, Kunlun had failed.
“Sigh, if I had even a fifth of my prime strength, I wouldn’t have been overwhelmed by such weak lightning,” Kunlun sighed, a hint of melancholy in his voice.
Trapped in this spiritless place for hundreds of years, his power had long since dissipated.
He was now incapable even of probing this young man’s body.
“You may have been a tenth-rank Martial Emperor in your prime, but you’re still not qualified to investigate this young one,” a strange voice suddenly echoed from within the cave.
Kunlun, who was originally sitting cross-legged, rose instantly at the sound and scanned his surroundings.
Finally, he saw a figure clad in bronze armor standing proudly in the void.
“Who are you? How did you get in here?” Kunlun asked coldly, feeling utterly vulnerable—not just for himself, but for Yang Fan by the shore.
No one had ever come to the Endless Cliff in hundreds of years—Yang Fan was the first.
Yang Fan carried Kunlun’s hope.
This stranger’s sudden appearance, having eluded him, shocked Kunlun.
Moreover, the disdain in the stranger’s tone when he mentioned Kunlun’s prime as only a tenth-rank Martial Emperor was palpable.
“I am who? The fallen Kunlun clan. Your first ancestor called me brother. I watched your second ancestor grow up. Your third ancestor fell in battle before me! Tell me, who do you think I am?” The figure stepped out from the shadows onto Kunlun’s platform.
When the figure fully emerged, Kunlun’s eyes fell upon a monkey-faced warrior with a thunderous countenance.
Kunlun was initially bewildered, but after hearing the monkey’s words and recalling the highest records in his clan’s library, his face changed drastically.
He immediately bowed deeply and said, “I am Kunlun, current head of the Kunlun tribe. I pay respects to the Lord of the Forbidden Zone, the foremost general under the War Ancestor, the Hunyuan War King!”
Kunlun felt deep regret. At first, he hadn’t recognized the monkey, but realizing this was the legendary first general under his clan’s War Ancestor, now the master of the forbidden zone—the Hunyuan War King—stirred a mixture of awe and sorrow.
The monkey nodded and then glanced at the chains binding Kunlun, a murderous intent gleaming in his eyes.
Kunlun did not rise and continued, “Hunyuan King, my Kunlun clan was destroyed by enemies. I beg you to intervene…”
The monkey suddenly laughed softly and replied, “I know. I saw the destruction of your clan. When you sent your best into the forbidden zone to seek the secret fruit, by the bond I shared with your ancestors, one fruit would have been no problem. But your men did not abide by the rules. I detained them, and your clan suffered a grievous blow, leading to their annihilation. I bear some responsibility for that.”
Kunlun quickly said, “You are too kind, Hunyuan King. As the current clan leader, I failed to discipline my subordinates and broke the forbidden zone’s laws. The responsibility lies with me.”
The monkey raised an eyebrow, said nothing, and turned his gaze toward the still-unconscious Yang Fan by the shore.
Golden light suddenly burst from his eyes, illuminating Yang Fan.
Kunlun hastened to explain, “Hunyuan King, this young man came from the outside world. He is talented. I am the last of the Kunlun tribe, so I passed down the Kunlun Immortal Art to him. His qi sea capacity is enormous.”
Kunlun’s hope shifted. No matter how capable Yang Fan was, he could not save Kunlun now. But the Hunyuan King was different. Those four spirit-sucking iron chains binding him were nothing in the king’s eyes.
If the Hunyuan King was willing, Kunlun could walk out of the Endless Cliff openly today—and perhaps even exact revenge with his aid.
As the golden light shone on Yang Fan, he suddenly rose, golden light shooting from his eyes. Lightning crackled around him, his body radiating a golden aura under the storm.
“Interesting,” the monkey murmured, his golden gaze intensifying.
Yang Fan, who had been sitting, now stood instantly, stepping forward. Lightning danced wildly over him; his golden aura shone brilliantly. His eyes shot golden beams like arrows, forcibly blocking the monkey’s light.
When his golden gaze was blocked, the monkey ceased his pursuit and withdrew his divine power.
Muttering to himself, he said, “I thought you were a fine flower, but you’re a tree... fascinating. So many things nurtured within one body. What will this sapling grow into? Ha! I’m genuinely curious!” Excited, the monkey even jumped twice.
As the golden light faded, Yang Fan collapsed like a noodle. The golden aura, the beams from his eyes, and the surrounding lightning all vanished.
...
After speaking, the monkey looked at Kunlun again, scrutinizing him before saying, “Since you have chosen this young one, then persevere. Don’t expect me to rescue you. I did not allow your clan members to leave before because I foresaw such an outcome. Everyone has their destined tribulation. This world has no way, nor tribulation. With my power, I cannot create a way, but I can act as a tribulation.”
“Kunlun of this generation, cultivate this young man well. Do not let him die. When he grows strong, that will be the day you escape. Regardless, I owe your clan. Kunlun fell because of me. Consider this secret fruit compensation, it will extend your life by five hundred years—my repayment. And one more I leave for the young one.”
With that, the monkey produced two azure fruits from nowhere and tossed them to Kunlun before slicing through the space to depart.
Kunlun was left alone, sighing deeply in the dim silence.
