Author's Note on Official Publication

After reading web novels for so many years, my own book has finally reached the moment of its official launch.

I have so much to say, yet I don’t know where to begin.

First, I must thank my editor-in-chief, my managing editor, and all the other editors for their support. Although we haven’t exchanged much—perhaps fewer than five sentences in total—they have consistently and quietly arranged recommendation slots for me. As a complete newcomer, I never imagined I would be able to secure a spot on the Sixth Frequency and the Sanjiang featured list before launch.

It is impossible to imagine the hardship and fatigue of writing web novels until you actually do it, especially once you start receiving recommendations. Honestly, back when no one was reading, I could manage three chapters a day outside of my regular work and overtime hours. I had this idealistic dream of posting two chapters a day while keeping one in reserve. At that time, my work schedule was relatively light, my mood was relaxed, and writing felt like a delightful process of indulging in a fantasy story. I even thought that by the time I reached the launch, I would have a stockpile of over 50 chapters.

But when the first recommendation arrived, the resulting pressure and some truly discouraging book reviews felt like a bucket of ice water poured over my passion for writing. I’m not afraid to admit it to my readers: perhaps my mindset as an author wasn't properly adjusted, or perhaps I simply wasn't cut out for it. Some of the aggressive and harsh comments left me unable to sleep at night or eat during the day, let alone write. The ten chapters I had managed to stockpile were exhausted just like that.

Many readers who have followed the book from the beginning might have noticed that I used to post one chapter in the morning and one in the afternoon, but somehow, that shifted to late-night updates. This is the reason: when you have no stockpile and have to write on the fly, it is impossible to manage your time effectively. Back then, I honestly thought this might be the next web novel to be shredded by critics before it even hit the shelves.

Here, I must thank the readers who have quietly supported me. Thank you all, truly. Whether you cast votes, sent tips, or offered words of encouragement, I am grateful for it all. Without you, I could never have persevered.

I have a habit of clicking on the profiles of my readers one by one; I try my best to remember those who support me, and that habit hasn't changed to this day. Even when I barely have time to reply to comments, I never stop doing this. It is because of so many readers who love this book that I finally managed to stick with it.

As a designer for a construction company, I’ve been driving to various project sites in Hangzhou for meetings lately. By the time I finish, I often hit the traffic restriction hours. The GPS clearly tells me to avoid the restricted zones, but every time there’s a camera alert, I have no choice but to drive through them. I have to get home to write and earn my keep, after all.

As a beleaguered designer, my work life is hardly easy. My current daily routine: I squeeze in some writing during the day, skip my lunch break to write, and after dinner, I take care of my child, bathe them, and then write. Once the chapter is posted, I start my overtime work. You all know what time I usually post the second chapter; as for how late I stay up working, I’ll keep that to myself. Haha... (sobbing) Being a web novel author, a programmer, and an engineering designer—why did I end up stuck with two of the three most miserable jobs?

Sigh, I feel like I’ve been rambling on about nonsense.

I apologize to the readers in the group and everyone else—the number of chapters released for the launch might be disappointing... Please don’t hit me!

Lastly, I suppose I have to make a plea for subscriptions. It would be hypocritical to say I’m writing purely for fun and don’t care about the money. Of course, I hope more people subscribe so I can earn an income. If it’s convenient for you, I hope you’ll support this book with your subscriptions. As for "gift coins," many veterans have told me about their impact. But since the platform provides these coins for readers to use, what’s the point if you don’t use them? So please, use them if you have them. It increases the fan value, after all.
