Chapter 82: Besieging the Little Red Snake
System Mission: Nemesis (I)
Mission Objective: Eliminate this damned bronze-grade reptile and show them the power of life.
Mission Rewards: 1. Alchemical creature storage slots +2. 2. It becomes a material for transcendent energy refinement.
Upon seeing the mission from the system, Wu You slammed his fist down with a jolt. Damn, it even burned a hundred points of alchemical energy! Although he had just received the second batch of red and blue gems a few days ago, it was still painfully wasteful.
He glanced at the Tiansha River.
Screw it—what’s to be afraid of? I’ll bury you under sheer numbers.
Wu You vanished in an instant, only to reappear in the same spot after several dozen seconds.
A cold glimmer flashed in his eyes. Prepare to meet your end!
Mission accepted: Nemesis (I)
...
Now the only problem was the home-field advantage.
That young blood-drake was in the Tiansha River, while Wu You at present had no aquatic bronze creatures.
But he had no intention of creating new creatures on the spot; he had his own way to seize the initiative.
Judging from its earlier reactions, the blood-drake was not particularly intelligent. Let’s see if it will really take the bait.
He had his black beast return to the city, while he himself activated his demon-god power.
He chose the Thunder Azure Drake as the medium.
After a wave of biological transformation washed over him, Wu You lifted his head, his gaze turning icy and aloof.
My alchemical energy won’t be wasted in vain.
The muscles on his thighs swelled like thick, coiled cables.
The ground beneath his feet trembled ever so slightly.
With a “boom,” he left a small crater where he had stood.
His entire figure shot off like a white streak, sprinting away from Leping City.
When the third silver creature appeared, Wu You already felt his physical strength surging again, and clearly, the strengthening of his body also spurred his mental power to grow.
He sprinted at his top speed for several kilometers.
Then, with a mighty leap, he soared more than thirty meters into the air—but did not fall back down.
Tiny sparks crackled over his body.
Wu You simply flew into the sky.
With his current mental strength, the power he could draw upon was enough for flight.
He rose straight up to several hundred meters.
From the ground, Wu You now looked no bigger than a sparrow, a tiny black dot in the sky.
He activated surveillance mode, directing White Eagle No. 2 to descend to twenty meters above the river’s surface.
Let’s go fishing—or rather, dragon-fishing.
...
Wu You did not have to wait long. White Eagle repeatedly swooped low along the stretch of river he had mapped out, erratically and without pattern.
Soon, the surface of the river grew restless below.
Keeping a sharp eye out behind, White Eagle’s keen vision could even make out a crimson shape darting beneath the water.
Roughly twenty meters long, as thick as a car tire.
Clearly, this beast didn’t have the same tricks as the one in Jiangzhou, or it wouldn’t have tried to pounce and bite earlier.
He had White Eagle No. 2 fly even lower, slowing its speed just a bit.
Wu You was growing impatient.
Come on, little red snake, come catch me.
...
Liu Niansheng, accompanied by her family’s bodyguard Wu Ding, had already retreated more than a hundred meters from the riverbank.
Knowing her lack of experience, she could only keep watch over the river for now and wait for reinforcements from her clan.
Her heart was uneasy—the blood-drake had already reached Bingzhou, and now was near Leping City.
“Miss, look over there!”
One of the bodyguards pointed toward the river’s eastern reach, interrupting Liu Niansheng’s thoughts.
Although it was some distance away, they could clearly see something thrashing beneath the surface, carving white waves across the river.
“Let’s go take a look.”
With such a commotion, it was certainly no ordinary fish. The blood-drake was clearly over there, so there was no point watching this side anymore.
The group moved swiftly, and as they drew closer, they made a new discovery.
“It’s that bird again.”
“Yes, I remember—when the blood-drake surfaced earlier, it tried to bite it.”
“I’ve never seen this kind of white bird before. Its tail feathers are so unusual.”
...
Though he had activated surveillance mode, Wu You’s own vision was far from impaired. With his current mental strength, multitasking posed little challenge.
That group below was actually foolish enough to approach. The ignorance of the fearless—but it’s none of my business.
At last, the water’s surface exploded. This time, the blood-drake launched its entire body out of the water, lunging at White Eagle No. 2 in the sky.
Just what I was waiting for!
The blood-drake snapped its massive jaws at the detestable white bird, but the latter nimbly dodged out of the way.
The bothersome bird didn’t fly far, continuing to circle erratically as if taunting the beast to catch it.
Wu You issued commands to White Eagle No. 2 in quick succession.
He had it maintain its altitude and speed, weaving back and forth to draw the blood-drake’s relentless attacks.
Its jaws snapped in vain, its tail lashed in vain, even sweeping up a curtain of water to strike, but the attacks were all neatly evaded.
The blood-drake was growing irritable.
And the more frequently Wu You issued commands in surveillance mode, the more agitated it became.
In the blood-drake’s vision, the white bird seemed to grow bored and suddenly flew toward the shore.
Unwilling to let it escape, the blood-drake once more lashed its tail against the river with a tremendous blow.
A surge of water raced out of the river, chasing after the white eagle.
It actually hit—the strange bird was struck.
Yet the bird still struggled onward, flying crookedly away from the riverbank, but was clearly about to fall.
The blood-drake, Wu You, and the Liu clan’s party all witnessed this scene.
...
The Liu clan’s party inwardly lamented for White Eagle No. 2; after all, the enemy of their enemy was their friend.
Wu You narrowed his eyes.
The blood-drake let out a piercing screech, its body arched atop the waves.
The waters of the Tiansha River suddenly surged back over the bank, and the blood-drake, riding the shallow surge, leaped onto the shore in pursuit of the staggering White Eagle No. 2.
Though it seemed less agile on land than in water, its speed was undiminished.
At this rate, White Eagle No. 2 was doomed.
But Wu You’s lips curled into a smile. Unbeknownst to the others, he had already descended to less than a hundred meters above ground, hidden within the misty spray.
Heh heh heh, you overgrown snake, you’ve taken the bait!
Suddenly, a vast shadow appeared in the sky above the blood-drake’s path.
Summon: All Ancient Treants. Summon: Lion-faced Vajra Garuru.
Five enormous Ancient Treants, each colossal in size, plummeted from the sky with a roar that tore through the air.
...
Liu Niansheng and all the Liu family bodyguards’ pupils contracted violently.
They stared as five colossal monsters emerged from a flicker of shadow in the sky ahead, Garuru overlooked for now due to his relatively small stature.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Five thunderous crashes resounded almost as one, leaving five massive craters in the ground.
“Hisss...” The blood-drake opened its jaws and howled in agony, its body writhing violently.
One of the Ancient Treants had landed with its thick leg squarely on the blood-drake’s tail.
The wounded creature twisted its serpentine body and bit hard into the treant’s wooden leg.
But the latter showed no reaction, its wooden eyes silently fixed on the writhing crimson form.
With a sound like the creaking of a massive wooden door and the trembling of the earth, the other treants strode closer to the blood-drake.
Including the one pinning the beast, all of them raised their thick arms and balled their fists.
Their joints crackled with a deep, rattling sound.
Five car-sized green hardwood knots, filled with the breath of the wind, smashed down upon the blood-drake.
Again, five muffled booms.
The ground trembled, making the Liu clan’s party nearby feel their legs go numb.
The blood-drake released its grip, spewing blood in a mournful shriek.
Wu You watched from high above, his eyes cold.
He clicked his tongue in approval.
It was a true battle of monsters.
