Chapter 108: Transcription Seal · Terra
The Uchiha clan possessed many unique ocular techniques associated with the Sharingan. Most people were familiar only with the two notorious abilities: Izanagi and Izanami. However, Izanagi, by its very design, was not a technique that could be used independently; it required the Sharingan as a medium.
To inscribe Izanagi onto the Sharingan, a technique known as the “Transcription Seal” was necessary. This seal could imprint specific ocular powers into one’s own or another’s eye, provided it was a Sharingan. After a certain period or once predetermined conditions set by the caster were met, the technique would activate automatically.
In the original narrative, there were numerous instances of the Transcription Seal’s usage. For example, Itachi embedded the “Transcription Seal: Amaterasu” into Sasuke’s eye, set to activate Amaterasu automatically upon seeing Obito’s Sharingan. Madara employed the same method, implanting Izanagi in his right eye to fake his death and resurrect himself. Obito also used a similar approach, embedding Izanagi via the Transcription Seal, which allowed him to endure six trillion explosive tags during his battle with Konan. Additionally, Danzo transplanted an entire Sharingan-bearing arm, embedding Izanagi into each eye via the Transcription Seal.
Therefore, Uchiha Rai now needed to use the Transcription Seal to inscribe the teleportation array of Terra onto a Sharingan. As for the Sharingan required for this task, several had been successfully cultivated through the First Hokage’s cellular experiments. These Sharingan remained active and were perfect for use.
“The only issue now is that I’ve never used the Transcription Seal before,” Rai mused.
Arriving at the experimental zone within Terra, Uchiha Rai placed a Sharingan on the examination table and began recalling the technique. Compared to Izanagi and Izanami, the Transcription Seal itself wasn’t particularly advanced within the Uchiha clan. He had studied it long ago but never applied it practically.
Still, thinking this through, Rai felt it was time to request the Izanagi and Izanami techniques from Uchiha Fugaku. Even if he might not use them immediately, they were indispensable assets.
Putting aside further contemplation, Rai carefully reviewed the specifics of the Transcription Seal and began his work.
Activating his Mangekyo Sharingan, Rai extended his right hand’s index and middle fingers to touch a Sharingan resting in a petri dish, then began channeling ocular chakra into it. The Mangekyo’s chakra delicately penetrated the Sharingan, slowly sketching the corresponding technique within.
This step was slow and meticulous, as Rai lacked Byakugan’s insight and had to rely solely on intuition.
After a long while, the technique was inscribed, and Rai began inputting the activation conditions for the Transcription Seal.
To establish a teleportation array capable of remotely transporting non-Apostles, two conditions had to be met for the seal to activate.
First, the array needed to be drawn using the ambient energy of Terra. This was the task he was currently engaged in—nothing too difficult, only requiring care during inscription.
Second was the condition to trigger the seal. Rai decided the activation would occur when chakra flowed into the Sharingan.
Thus, whenever Kakashi infused chakra into the eye, Terra’s teleportation array would activate.
About five minutes later, the ocular chakra transcription was complete. Rai withdrew his hand, satisfied.
Though the Sharingan looked unchanged to others, as the one who inscribed the Transcription Seal, Rai could distinctly sense its difference.
“I shall name it ‘Transcription Seal: Terra,’” he declared after some hesitation.
Since Itachi’s original Transcription Seal embedding Amaterasu into Sasuke’s eye was named “Transcription Seal: Amaterasu,” it was fitting that his own creation be named accordingly.
However, simply handing over a bare petri dish to Kakashi felt beneath his dignity. Rai thus spent considerable time crafting an exquisite wooden case for it.
The case was intricately carved with the emblem of Terra’s Apostles, making it instantly recognizable.
Encasing the Sharingan and petri dish within elevated its aura of refinement.
Much like mooncakes in his previous life—while the taste between loose and packaged ones might differ little, the packaging could raise the price manyfold.
“Perfect!” Rai admired his creation before leaving Terra and returning to reality.
---
Knocking on Kakashi’s door, Rai was surprised when Kakashi opened it wearing his mask even while asleep.
“You wear it even to bed?” Rai asked in astonishment.
He had expected to finally see Kakashi’s true face but was evidently mistaken. Kakashi simply shrugged.
“I’m used to it,” Kakashi replied casually, then asked, “Any news from Terra?”
Feigning seriousness, Rai said, “Indeed. I reported to the leader about you; he has agreed to meet you.”
With that, he handed Kakashi the beautifully packaged box.
Kakashi took it but did not open it immediately. Instead, he asked, “What’s this?”
Rai replied softly, “This is the key to Terra. Only those who possess it can enter Terra’s world.”
Though somewhat complicated, this method maximized Terra’s security and maintained the mysteriousness consistent with Rai’s ongoing design principles.
“How exactly do I use it?”
Kakashi’s tone grew serious and curious. He had caught the nuance in Rai’s words, especially the phrase “Terra’s world.”
Terra—could it be another dimension? Or perhaps something akin to the ancient Loulan?
Watching Kakashi’s expression shift, Rai was pleased and explained, “One hour from now, open the box and infuse your chakra into the key inside.”
He paused before adding, “Remember, don’t resist. There will be no danger.”
Because the teleportation gate crafted via the Transcription Seal was limited by the Sharingan’s storage capacity, the gate would be small in scale.
It could only transport one person at a time and was not very stable.
If Kakashi resisted the gate’s activation, it might collapse.
“I understand,” Kakashi nodded, somewhat mystified but compliant.
With the instructions complete, Rai prepared to leave.
At that moment, his gaze fell upon a book lying on Kakashi’s desk.
He recognized it instantly—the copy of “The Legend of Terra” he himself had authored.
Approaching, Rai took a deep breath, noting it was a rare collector’s edition released by the bookstore.
The price was high, and its circulation extremely limited.
Clearly, Kakashi must have gone to great lengths to acquire it.
Rai stroked his chin and glanced at Kakashi.
Realizing Rai’s scrutiny, Kakashi swiftly moved to the desk, casually tucked the book away, and said, “Rai, if there’s nothing else, you should go.”
A knowing smile spread across Rai’s face.
“Kakashi, you’re still young—you must exercise restraint…”
