Volume One: The Hell-Class Lord World Chapter 11: Synthesizing the Fire Spirit Crow
Boom!
The magical flames instantly ignited the wooden chest, burning everything inside, including all the raven eggs. Amidst the fire, the cries of ravens echoed. One after another, black ravens soared from the flames, settling upon the nearby trees.

Once all the Fire Spirit Ravens had taken flight, Chen Gu counted their numbers. The chest contained six rows of raven eggs, one hundred and eighty in total. Through batch synthesis, Chen Gu successfully produced one hundred and fifty-nine Fire Spirit Ravens.
Though they were only level 1 flying creatures, and their combat prowess was slightly inferior to Bloodshadow Wolves, their ability to use magic made up for it. With a wave of his hand, Chen Gu commanded all the Fire Spirit Ravens to take flight. Above his head they circled, and every minute, sparks began to appear beside each raven—these sparks served as the foundation for fire spark magic.
Watching over a hundred Fire Spirit Ravens swirling in the sky, a glimmer of excitement flashed in Chen Gu’s eyes. Just then, a streak of blood light heralded the arrival of the Bloodshadow Wolf, darting in.
“You’re back? How did it go—what about those ghosts?”
With the Fire Spirit Ravens at his command, Chen Gu no longer feared the ghosts. A hundred or so ghosts? He could deploy the Fire Spirit Ravens—one for each ghost. Even without fire spark magic, the spirit raven magic could capture them all.
The Bloodshadow Wolf glanced outside in response to Chen Gu’s question.
Chen Gu noticed that the ghosts had chased the Bloodshadow Wolf back. However, he had already activated a defensive barrier, keeping all the ghosts at bay outside the village.
“Haha, serves them right,” Chen Gu laughed heartily, then pointed toward the ghosts. “Fire Spirit Ravens, prepare to use Fire Spark Shot.”
The ravens took flight, soaring out of the village. Having circled in the sky for quite a while, now each had accumulated a second spark. As they crossed the barrier, every ghost looked up at them.
The Fire Spirit Ravens didn’t allow the ghosts to approach. The moment the ghosts looked up, a spark beside each raven condensed to the size of a thumb and shot downward like a meteor toward the ghosts.
These sparks were genuine fire magic. As they struck the ghosts, a series of muffled pops could be heard. Each ghost burst apart like a balloon pierced by a needle.
At that moment, Chen Gu realized something: he could only precisely control ten of the Fire Spirit Ravens; the rest, though counted as his subordinates, were beyond detailed manipulation.
Recalling how obedient the ravens were within the village limits—and the fact that only ten Corpse-Eating Vines could be synthesized—Chen Gu immediately understood. Without forming squads or appointing heroes, he could only control up to ten pets of the same kind.
Previously, the Fire Spirit Ravens followed his commands because they were within the village, counted as part of its official roster. Once outside, they were considered an unorganized force under Chen Gu.
This was something Chen Gu hadn’t anticipated. It wasn’t that he hadn’t studied diligently; rather, most of these matters were covered only in advanced courses at university. Typically, novice lords, after completing their initial tasks in the Lord’s World, had no more than a hundred soldiers at their disposal—a mix of races and unit types, so there was no need for organizational arrangements. Not even heroes were required; the first challenge was already complete.
Who could have foreseen that Chen Gu, in a hell-level Lord’s World, would acquire so many pets at once?
Chen Gu was clever; though he hadn’t studied this, he quickly grasped the concept. He hurriedly opened his attribute interface, searching rapidly, ignoring the battle outside.
Soon, Chen Gu discovered something different in his attributes panel.
Originally, only the [Synthesis] and [Territory] panels were active; all others were greyed out, indicating that he had yet to gain full recognition in the Lord’s World and become a formal lord, so many functions were still locked.
[Synthesis] was his innate panel, available from the start.
[Territory] was activated when he conquered Wolf Mountain.
Now, a new [Legion] panel had appeared. Opening it, Chen Gu found that the Legion panel held many intricacies—not every group of more than ten could be organized as a legion.
For example, the minimum for a legion was ten units, but the maximum depended on the type. A lord’s personal legion had a cap of ten thousand; a hero’s legion ranged from four to eight thousand; city garrison legions ranged from five to ten thousand.
Previously, the Corpse-Eating Vines couldn’t exceed ten units because the [Legion] panel hadn’t been activated.
Fire Spirit Ravens, synthesized in the elven village, were counted as city garrisons—even though the village was abandoned, it still qualified as a city. Thus, the ravens were assigned to the city garrison legion, inadvertently unlocking the [Legion] panel for Chen Gu.
After studying the panel, Chen Gu transferred the Fire Spirit Ravens from the city garrison to his own personal legion. Instantly, his control over them was restored. Although he couldn’t command each individually as he could with ten pets, he could issue unified orders.
Glancing at the few remaining ghosts outside, Chen Gu waved his hand.
“Fire Spirit Ravens, use Fire Spark Sweep!”
The ravens responded instantly, diving downward; all the sparks beside them rained down like meteors upon the ground.
This time, the sparks rapidly grew larger—not mere thumb-sized fire bullets, but balloon-sized fireballs.
As the fireballs fell, they formed a neat square formation, enveloping all the ghosts below.
Explosions thundered across the ground.
Once the smoke and dust cleared, Chen Gu found that all the ghosts surrounding the village had vanished, replaced by clusters of fist-sized, eerie blue pearls scattered across the earth.
The ghosts had been swept away!
