He reached out and took the crows, noticing a small note tied to one of their legs. Chen Gu removed it and read the contents, which detailed Pan’s current situation. This included his occupation of over a dozen nearby farms and his capture of Longwind City, where he was currently in the process of activating the city’s heart.

Pan needed time to wait for the activation of the city heart, and he informed Chen Gu that once it was active, the surrounding villages and towns that once belonged to the Longwind City branch would also be activated one by one. Those settlements would only have their city hearts available, with no construction stones or other resources, and they would lack heroes or city lords to manage them. This was a problem Chen Gu would have to solve himself.

Seeing this, Chen Gu felt it was a significant headache. If another city appeared—even a Level 7 one—he had plenty of unrefined construction stones, so he wasn't worried about that. However, if the number of cities increased too rapidly, he lacked the manpower to manage them all. For the first time, Chen Gu wondered if he was moving too fast. Should he focus solely on the Forest Garden?

Reading this, Chen Gu couldn't help but smile. "Machines? That’s not impossible."

Chen Gu thought of the two ships and one submarine he had left behind at the Holy City. Those were certainly products of mechanization. He wondered how Alan was doing, and if he had managed to capture the water elementals in the Holy Lake. Those water elementals were quite formidable—not only were they numerous, but they were Holy Water Elementals. If Alan could tame them, dealing with the undead in the future would be a simple task.

Thinking of this, Chen Gu felt a sudden urge to return to the Holy City. He still had several undead hero certificates in his possession. If possible, he could take them to the Holy City to be "cleansed," then use them on the water elementals to recruit a few more water elemental heroes. Since they had left and could not return, Chen Gu decided to take his belongings and his Corpse Vine troops, setting out toward Longwind City himself. He needed to see Pan’s situation firsthand to determine if he could help synthesize new units.

As for the arrangements at the Forest Garden, Chen Gu decided to leave that to Nina, instructing her to prioritize the construction of other vital buildings. The issue of construction stones would have to wait until his return.

Chen Gu traveled to Longwind City on foot. After all, when Pan had set out previously, he had taken the vine carriage with him. Without it, even the *Vine Light* could not move and remained outside the Forest Garden as a temporary camp.

Chen Gu now understood Pan’s intentions. Beyond wanting more suitable troops, Pan desired status. It was clear to Chen Gu that Pan wanted to become the Lord of Longwind City. In other words, Pan’s ambition went beyond being a city lord; he wanted to be the administrator of an entire region.

Considering Pan’s talent and potential, Chen Gu was unsure if he could reach that goal. Given his green-quality potential, his level cap was only 5. That was fine for managing a village or a small town, or serving as a squad leader in a mid-tier army, but it was lackluster for a Level 7 city like Longwind—let alone controlling an entire region.

However, since Pan had this ambition, Chen Gu wouldn't oppose him. He would go and see for himself. Along the way, Chen Gu saw the farms Pan had mentioned. Every farm in sight now flew his banner. Through his territory interface, he could see that these farms had resumed operation, with crows, rats, and scarecrows present in the fields.
