Yun Que was greatly surprised to find Wu Dachuan here. This was the core area of the Refined Realm, just a few steps ahead was a torrential rain of swords, and no sword servant dared to step even half a pace forward. Moreover, the last time Yun Que encountered Wu Dachuan, he had already instructed him to return immediately—how could he possibly appear here now?
A brief examination darkened Yun Que’s expression.
Wu Dachuan’s bones were shattered!
Such injuries could not have been caused by beasts; they were undoubtedly inflicted by human hands.
Someone had captured Wu Dachuan, tortured him along the way, and then abandoned him here to die.
What a ruthless villain!
Yun Que made a mental note of this grudge. Whoever was responsible would have to face the wrath of the Coldwater Marquis.
Suppressing his anger, Yun Que extracted the broken blade lodged under Wu Dachuan’s ribs, applied a simple bandage, and administered several pills to temporarily suppress the injuries.
Due to the severity of the wounds and prolonged exposure to the sword rain, Wu Dachuan was on the brink of death; even if rescued, survival was uncertain.
Yet Yun Que refused to give up.
He hoisted Wu Dachuan onto his back and glanced back at the small insect still circling nearby.
“Thank you.”
Yun Que realized that Wu Dachuan’s survival thus far was likely thanks to that sword beetle.
Judging by the insect’s path and the marks on the ground, the sword rain above Wu Dachuan’s previous position was far heavier than where he now stood.
Without that little creature, Wu Dachuan would have perished long ago in the sword rain.
By the time they returned to the cliff area, half a day had passed.
Yun Que estimated that the sword rain during this period would pose little threat to Mu Qingyao, Zhou Yuanliang, and the others—they should be able to withstand it.
Just as he approached the vicinity, the sound of flying swords colliding reached his ears.
Someone was fighting!
Yun Que was astonished. Could there be others besides these people inside the Refined Realm?
He quickened his pace and soon arrived at the base of the cliff.
The scene before him ignited his fury.
There were no outsiders; the survivors were embroiled in internal conflict!
Xiu Xue was dueling Zhou Yuanliang, wielding the Floral Spirit Sword.
Several bodies lay scattered around.
Han Ning and Han Jiao were collapsed on the ground, pale and weak; Yi Hongwen trembled with fear; Mu Qingyao lay in a pool of blood, her fate uncertain; and Lan Duo was still in shock, unsure how to respond.
“Stop!”

Yun Que’s cold command halted the battle.
Upon seeing Yun Que’s return, Yi Hongwen wailed desperately as if a savior had arrived.
“Sister-in-law, you’re finally back! That vicious woman ambushed our cousin Qingyao and stole our Mu family’s Floral Spirit Sword!”
Misfortune compounded.
Wu Dachuan was gravely injured and near death, and now Mu Qingyao had been ambushed.
Zhou Yuanliang finally received aid, panting as he approached Yun Que.
“She possesses a top-tier defensive magic device and wields a formidable treasure; she’s not easy to deal with.”
Yun Que hurried to Mu Qingyao’s side to assess her wounds.
She was alive but weak and unconscious.
The wound was in the abdomen—a sword hole penetrating from the lower back. Thanks to the pills, the bleeding had stopped, but the injury remained grievous and flesh mangled.
Such a wound might not be fatal to an ordinary person, but for a cultivator, it was catastrophic.
The dantian was located in the abdomen!
Mu Qingyao’s dantian had been struck; it was uncertain if she could recover.
Seeing the injury, Yun Que immediately understood the attacker’s cruelty.
They intended to cripple Mu Qingyao’s foundation!
“Sister-in-law, you must avenge cousin Qingyao!”
Yi Hongwen pointed at Xiu Xue, cursing, “She’s gone mad! Among the few of us survivors, she’s still slaughtering! Not only did she wound cousin Qingyao, but she also killed several disciples from the South Courtyard and two from the Shaowu Sword Palace! She wants to wipe us all out!”
Facing such a formidable enemy, Yi Hongwen grew increasingly familiar, no longer addressing Yun Que as junior brother but as brother-in-law. He feared Yun Que would abandon him; if left alone in the Refined Realm, he would surely meet the King of Hell tomorrow.
Besides the bodies of several South Courtyard disciples and two from Shaowu Sword Palace, the two survivors from the Chixia Sword Palace had also died unnatural deaths, likely at Zhou Yuanliang’s hands.
Yun Que pieced together the truth in an instant.
Xiu Xue, allied with two disciples from her sect, had suddenly attacked, severely wounding Mu Qingyao before slaughtering the South Courtyard disciples. The Shaowu Sword Palace disciples were also killed, while Zhou Yuanliang fought back and slew the two from Chixia Sword Palace.
Gently setting Mu Qingyao down, Yun Que rose, his entire aura shifting.
It grew sharp and piercing, exuding lethal intent!
His clear eyes brimmed with murderous resolve as they fixed on the culprit.
Xiu Xue trembled immediately, feeling as if a ferocious beast was locking its gaze on her.
Though wary of Yun Que, she exuded strong confidence beneath her caution. Arching her brows, she said proudly:
“Survival of the fittest! None of us could survive a year here; we must concentrate our resources to endure. Rather than all waiting to die, it’s better to eliminate the weak and keep the strongest.”
Looking Yun Que squarely in the eye, she declared:

“I admit you are strong, but I am not weak! Together, we have a good chance of surviving until the next opening of the Refined Realm. You should be sensible—carrying these burdens will only hasten your death!”
“Burdens...” Yun Que’s lips curled into a cold smile. “They may be burdens, but they are my friends, my family.”
Swish!
Sword energy surged, a long sword bristling with murderous intent pointing at Xiu Xue.
“I am the greatest joke of the Yan Kingdom, but I have never lived like one. Anyone who harms my family dies.”
Yun Que’s voice was soft yet resolute, sharp as a blade. Even the endless sword rain seemed to deliberately avoid him.
The rain’s trajectory curved unusually.
Sword rain falling over Yun Que’s head slanted away to other places.
Intimidated by Yun Que’s sharpness, Xiu Xue instinctively tried to retreat.
She stubbornly halted her lifted foot, standing proudly like an arrogant swan, tilting her fair neck as she glanced at Mu Qingyao.
“I know she is your fiancée—so what? What she can give you, I, Xiu Xue, can give you too!”
“I have trained hard in the Chixia Sword Palace for nineteen years and remain untouched by any man; no one has ever caught my eye.”
“Your fiancée is indeed a beauty, but I am no less! I may not be a peerless beauty, but at least a true beauty.”
“If she dies, I can marry you! She can bear your children, and so can I! As many as you want!”
Xiu Xue’s shocking declaration cast aside all feminine modesty.
Yi Hongwen grew colder and more fearful with every word.
He feared Yun Que might truly accept this woman and abandon the gravely injured Mu Qingyao. If that happened, no one would care about the fate of Mu Qingyao’s cousin.
Especially since Xiu Xue had the looks, the figure, and the cultivation—Yi Hongwen asked himself honestly: if he were Yun Que, he might not hesitate either.
In the outside world, he might still play the hero, but here was the perilous Refined Realm!
If Xiu Xue and Yun Que paired up and eliminated the others present, their combined resources would be enough to last them a whole year.
Despair washed over Yi Hongwen; his legs wobbled, and he stumbled to the ground.
Xiu Xue gazed arrogantly at Yun Que, confident she could replace Mu Qingyao’s position.
“Why hesitate? If you’re not foolish, you’ll see that teaming up is the best option. Don’t you want me?”
She lifted her delicate hand to smooth her falling hair, her movements alluring and enchanting.
But what answered her was a thunderous sword roar!
