"Zi Yushu, eliminated!"

The teacher, who had been watching the battle the whole time, announced it in a cool, merciless voice.

At this moment, the teacher was nothing more than a referee. She did not care who was clever and who was foolish. She only decided who won and who lost.

So what if Yi Hongbo’s mind had been controlled by Tang Mu? As long as one person among the twenty-nine students still survived, that was enough.

The instant her words fell, Zi Yushu was pierced into a human sieve by countless venomous arrows.

Under the influence of the poison, even his blood changed color. It went from bright red to a dark, blackish red.

Thick, sticky blood slowly seeped from his body, and only after he died did his body finally stiffen.

About ten seconds after Zi Yushu’s death, the teacher’s indifferent voice sounded again in the classroom.

"Since the witch has two lives, Zi Yushu has been granted a chance to revive!"

One second later.

A completely new Zi Yushu appeared before everyone’s eyes once more.

Only his face was somewhat pale.

He also looked much weaker.

It seemed that the taste of death, even for someone with spiritual power as strong as Zi Yushu’s, was not something pleasant.

"Well then, Zi Yushu, how was it? What was it like making a round trip to the underworld bridge? Why not tell everyone about it?"

Although his face was pale, beneath that fragility there lingered a peculiar strength and a wicked charm.

In a cold voice, he said to Tang Mu, "If you want to know what death tastes like, go experience it yourself."

He said it through clenched teeth, with real ferocity.

Tang Mu, however, covered her mouth in feigned panic, looking pitiful and frightened. "Then I’d better not. After all, a weak girl like me simply can’t stand blood and gore."

Heh.

Zi Yushu had only one word in his heart: disgusting.

Now it was Tang Mu’s turn to play.

Tang Mu glanced theatrically at the board before analyzing the cards in her hand. "Nine."

Tang Mu advanced from 13 with 9 and landed on square 1.

Zi Yushu also played coldly. While playing, he had no desire to deal with anyone at all. He moved in and out in an instant. "Seven."

Zi Yushu advanced from 11 with 7 and landed on square 18.

He did have the nine in his hand, but he was not certain whether Yi Hongbo had a nine as well. What he did know was that Yi Hongbo no longer had a seven, because Yi Hongbo had already played that card in the second round.

Judging from how the previous group had played, Zi Yushu had accurately concluded that players would not receive duplicate cards in their hands.

Only by perfectly avoiding everyone else’s range of attack could one preserve one’s own life, could one not?

Yin Juncai still played a card.

It was simply ignored.

But when it was Yi Hongbo’s turn, he plunged into the deepest possible conflict, confusion, and panic.

He touched the cards in his hand, frightened and uneasy.

Yi Hongbo had only two cards left: the nine and the attack card, Freeze.

If Zi Yushu had just played a nine, then he could have attacked Zi Yushu one more time. But Zi Yushu had played a seven, which meant the cards in his hand could not be used at all.

And even if he played the nine, he would only go from 11 to 20, still far short of 21.

So Yi Hongbo knew very well what awaited him next: because he had too few cards and could not reach 21, he would be eliminated outright.

Seeing his hesitant expression, the teacher also knew Yi Hongbo had already lost.

Yet even so, her features remained as cold and unmoving as ever. Her voice, too, was icy and without a trace of humanity.

"Yi Hongbo, if you still do not play a card within two minutes, it will be counted as an automatic forfeit. Eliminated!"

Yi Hongbo’s whole body trembled, sweat streaming down his forehead.

But no one looked at him with pity.

Even Tang Mu’s eyes were indifferent when they fell on him.

Zi Yushu, meanwhile, mocked him from the side, adding insult to injury. "Looking at the cards in your hand, do you think you’ve already lost? I told you long ago not to trust beautiful women. The prettier a woman is, the better she is at lying. Look at you now—has your beloved goddess even thrown you half a lifeline?"

Yi Hongbo immediately looked at Tang Mu. His panicked gaze fixed on her, as though he were trying to find in her eyes the thing he had been hoping for all along.

Tang Mu saw that Yi Hongbo was about to die and happily put on a show.

"It’s fine, Yi Hongbo. I’ll miss you," she said. "Every Ghost Festival, I’ll remember to burn paper money for you."

Yi Hongbo: "??!"

"Two minutes are up," the teacher announced mercilessly from the side. "Yi Hongbo did not play a card. He is deemed to have forfeited the game. Eliminated!"

Being eliminated on the spot was far kinder than dying from an attack card.

Yi Hongbo simply vanished from where he stood.

He experienced no pain of death at all.

This way of dying was not bad either.

"This group originally had eight people, and now only four have died. Not exciting enough. Nothing worth watching!"

The spectators below slammed the tables in protest.

"Can you hurry up? Once you’re all dead, we can take the stage!"

"Exactly! Hurry up and die, all of you! We’ve been sitting here so long our backsides are practically growing weeds! Can you people even make room for us to move our asses?"

Listening to the furious curses below, Tang Mu did not even blink.

Zi Yushu, however, felt as though countless ants were crawling over his heart as he watched those idiots, low in intelligence and as filthy as mud compared with him, so casually ignoring and belittling him. Disgust, fury, and madness churned inside him.

He did like to play the fool and outwit others in the end.

But the pleasure of playing the fool and outwitting them lay in devouring the tiger, not in playing the fool itself.

"Is it my turn again?" Tang Mu glanced at Zi Yushu without changing expression, then looked at Jing You, who was extremely tense and afraid.

But she showed no special expression.

She simply took out her card marked two.

"From 1, move 2 and land on 3."

Tang Mu decisively made her move against Jing You.

"Scissors."

"No, Tang Mu, I... I don’t want to die." Jing You’s eyes were brimming with tears. She very much wanted to live; if she could survive, who wouldn’t want to be the final winner?

Besides, the cards in her hand were nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, and three, along with one earth pit card and one freeze card.

Nine plus eight plus seven plus six plus five plus four plus three came to exactly forty-two.

As long as she safely finished two rounds and killed two people, she would certainly win this game.

But Tang Mu did not give her a chance to survive. Jing You was very sad. She actually wanted very much to be friends with Tang Mu.

But she also knew that in the dormitory, when the strange and terrible things had come attacking, Tang Mu had already saved her once. She could not ask for any more from Tang Mu.

She could only bury that desire to be friends deep in her heart. And she silently made a wish: if there were ever another chance, she would definitely stay by Tang Mu’s side properly!

"Jing You, Yin Juncai, eliminated!" the teacher standing nearby announced coldly.
